Sorry to ask(but I have limited time online to search, and can barely see the monitor as I am outside....) but - has the email address to reserve camping spots been advised yet?

I don't have my exact dates for being there, but will decide fairly soon, I think, and want to get that taken care of.

Yay for Facelift!

Thanks Lynne, for the email info.

I will have to really tighten my budget this year to afford the F/L trip. My income was cut severely because I relinquished some clients in order to live at the cabin. But....I do have some money already in savings. Let's hope I can keep my hands off the Prana pants at Rock and Snow, and learn to look at price tags in the grocery store instead of just grabbing what strikes my fancy.

Yeah, hear you happigrrrl, I pretty much don't go where anything that requires money will tempt me. When I go to the store I have a list and when I get there I think of reasons why I Really don't need what's on the list. :DD

Have I met you paulina ? It would be great to see you in Sept.

How many musicians do we have staying in Yellow Pine.....we need more guitar players !!! We wore out Andy T. last year.

Fattrad are you putting on the BBQ again this year. I can help if you need any. Cheers, Lynnie

Chicken Skinner, how bout a cig butt program like this. Kinda like the Japanese tourists you mentioned earlier in the thread. When people come into Yosemite National Park they're ask if they smoke. If they do they are given a portable pocket cigarette container for dead butts.

You could charge them a deposit and when they leave, returning it used, they get their deposit back. I still think advertizing a butt campaign similar to the Coppertone Girl Suntan lotion one bitd would be fun. Have posters showing Bear #46 or famous climbers in her pose. It would be a kick. Jess thinking out loud about the butt problem. :D lynnie

Edit: It could be done in all National Parks.....

Hi you guys and gals,

Keep emailing me and I will throw your emails in a camping folder, first come, first serve. I have an art auction to do to pay for it all. I will sort through it all after the auction.

Thanks,

Ken

P.S. Carry on.

So to recap....OMG I am sounding like a favorite Canuk I know....yo all must email Ken to reserve a site.

Also, if anyone has art stuff to donate to the art auction let Ken know. It's in July and is his biggest YCA fund raiser of the year and pays for stuff like Facelift and Yellow Pines.....The sooner you get the donations to him the better.

Skippy and Eric I know yo guys do stained glass art etc. The auction includes stuff like that. Maybe yo could donate a piece. Anyone else wood carve or weave cloth or anything ??? lynnie

I was just Googling the dates for Facelift this year, and came across this great message thread. I had a good laugh from the comments Lynne and fattrad made about the cigarette butts and juice straw wrappers!

I think this will be my 4th (or is it 5th?) year, and I've kind of 'adopted' Housekeeping Camp as my clean-up area, I wind up spending a couple days in there. I'm just amazed by the sheer volume of butts, juice straw wrappers, and those plastic clips that hold bread wrappers closed, (a whole lotta hamburger and hot dog buns being wolfed down there each year I suppose).
My favorite though are the beer bottle caps, this year to make it more interesting, I'm going to keep track of the total number I collect, it had to be way over 100 of them last year.

Only slight downside to spending so much time on the minutia of trash-collecting is I feel like I haven't collected so much, volume-wise, when I turn in my bags at the collection booth, and they kind of look at me like "is this all?!" (as some guy comes up behind me with a wheelbarrow filled with old tires, hub caps, and downed road signs)! ;-)

There's a cache behind the Visitor Centre, where those who feel their pickup efforts are inadequate can buy stuff to pad their collection. See this guy for the price list.
You'd be surprised at who shops at "Ken's Fill-a-Trash-Bag", and the neat stuff you can get there. The junked car was particularly cool, but must not have been cheap.

Tall tales that stuff from one FaceLift is simply redistributed for recollection the following year seem improbable, though.

I like the ipod someone found that still worked. Now that was really "cool" trash.

Yes, I hope that this year I can go with Bill before he starts appearing fictional. Thank God Lynne and Largo are able to vouch for me on his existence. Don't know what kind of mess I would get in without that.

Yeah, I may try to make it a longer trip this year. Actually give Anders some sh#t and stuff.....and Jstan. I always miss people on my weekend jaunts.

That's it!!! I'm pulling the family in for the duration!

Thanks Lynne, The doctor is still thinking about going to Peru despite his recent injury. I'm wondering if he gets his other ankle broken if I will have him for sure... "Maybe" that will slow him down. Yeah, yeah, most likely not but shhh... A girl needs hope.
