Blue, of course we each have to find our own way but I'll side with the Swedes over the Italians, any day!
I, myself, go to my own church.

Jan,
I don't know how widespread the organization is, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was a relationship between the ones I know and the ones you know.
The open air church shows Mary wearing a sari and has a picture of St. Francis next to a chakra chart.
This image captures one aspect the philosophy of Father Robert pretty well.
But when he's performing ceremonies (weddings, etc.), he's just an "ordinary" Catholic priest. So the family never has to know... ;)

Not to resurrect this thread, but although the White Robed Monks of St. Benedict may *look* Catholic, they... well, aren't. They, in fact, appear to be tied to the Jansenist heresy of the seventeenth century, especially since historians generally accept that the Jansenists set themselves up in Utrecht after they left France.

Interesting.
You claim to know Dirka and are from MO? Do you live here now?
The child will be baptistised locally...Lutheran.

I'm not from Saint Louis, that's just where I live now. I'm doing my PhD at Saint Louis University.
I met Dirka when I lived in Berkeley and I have the ring on my finger to prove it. :) (He's going to get mad that I'm "outing" him on ST.)
I'm actually from Massachusetts.
I'm glad that you found a place to baptize your child that works for you.

Trying unsuccessfully to figure out lissie's remarks about the Benedictines. They are one of the oldest monastic orders in the Roman Catholic church, founded by saint Benedict in the 6th century C.E. I believe that there are some small Benedictine orders that aren't part of that church. Is that what you're referring to?
One thing I studied was medieval history, so interesting stuff.

You considered Blue that the congregation which rejected you might have done so after considering your many ignorant and insensitive opinion posts on supertopo?
You're a soft-bellied, omniscient dilettante. Seriously, you don't need a church. Just go hide under your bed.

Lissiehoya-
The Benedictines wear a variety of colors of robes, so I don't think you can conclude that any of them with white robes is a Jansenist (Calvinist) in disguise. You have to go deeper than that.
Meanwhile, here is the web page of Bede Griffiths who happens to wear and orange robe.

Jansenists aren't Calvinists and it has nothing to do with their robes... So... I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Geez, Lissiehoya, I'd like to talk to you around a fire...Where did you pick this stuff up? Are you American, Eastern European?
I'm intrigued.

Blue:
Bonatti is my god; and you are my whipping boy.
You're such an easy target - marsh-mellow dudette. Give unto others - you gotta take it if you're gonna give it.
You're a bully and I'd like to teach you a little about respect towards others. So get yourself in shape because it'd be great to rumble someday soon, and I need you to be worthy.

Totally American. :)
The short version of the story is a combo of my undergrad study at Georgetown and my study abroad in France got me interested in the Jansenists and now I'm studying "historical theology" at SLU with a focus on seventeenth and eighteenth century France, but of course they're making me take the whole series of Church history--early, medieval, early modern, late modern--so I know a bit about a lot of other stuff too. :)
As for the campfire, Dirka and I are still planning to do our annual JTree trip every year, otherwise I *hear* there's some good camping in Missouri...

Are you f*#king crazy? What does that mean? You wanna fight?
If you like to worship darkness, go ahead, loser. How am I a bully? Are you insecure in your beliefs?
You seem unstable.

Why don't you post a real pic of yourself, so I can see the 'awesome man' who wants a piece of me.
EDIT:
How am I a bully? Are you insecure in your beliefs?
It'd be cool if you answered that too.
