Tiger is a good choice actually, probably greatest golfer in the history of the sport. Take a look at his accomplishments on wikipedia, he is deserving. But I would have voted Armstrong. There are lots of athletes that will never get recognition, even though the people performing in them are equal or greater than the greatest of the fame generating sports.

Boxers are pretty fit... no bout a doubt it.

Pac man is a bit late in the decade to own it, maybe his predecessor de la hoya, who kept boxing alive during that run.

as far as combat sports go, there is one man who has never been beaten, and who fought this while decade. The last emperor...

I looked on this thread to see if anyone really had their eyes open. Largo, you got it right (IMHO).

Kelly Slater for sure.

Even Lance Armstrong would agree.

Phelps is a talented... we'll see if he can repeat.

Kelly Slater did it 9 times (world titles). He's won in 2ft surf and in 25 ft surf. He's won more contests than any other surfer ever. He's been pro since his teen years and now he's in his late 30s (almost 40!).

I'd have to say Tommy Caldwell as well. But there is Dean Potter and Sharma etc. but with Kelly nobody is even close in his sport.

If Professional Surfing was as mainstream as Golf then we wouldn't even be talking about it.
It'd be obvious.
