you know, its funny - in all the years I climbed at Josh and
all the multi-month hangs out there, was never tempted to
go near the ranch, didn't seem necessary - so, maybe that's
a thought. If the noise bugs ya, no worries - drive on toward
about three jillion acres strewn with like, a gazillion climbs,
find your peace, have some fun and a maybe a little solitude.
you might even see a desert tortoise...
and if you do, please remember - they are endagered big time,
the park service asks that you keep your distance and let them
be...have fun - JTNP is a really special place :-)

I just want to hear it when Tucker gets tired of digging to China and you figure out how to blast the bolder in the driveway.

Besides, if he does dig to China, then take-out will be much easier up here!

I suspect Tucker will never get tired of digging to China. Besides... he's got 100's of new rocks to move around.
Thus the circle of life continues.... at least as long as the beer flows.

Hey Alisa,
Well, things have greatly changed up here. Since the owners are no longer being told what they can and can't do by Coco The Gorilla, they actually feel at home on their own property.
What a concept. It almost took a call to the cops to get their disrespectful asses outta here.

"Robert-- sounds like you are being a very good steward to the property."
Thank you very much! We really work hard hear to keep this place running, keep the owners happy, and work with the NPS. It's a bigger job than you might think. But it is a job I take very seriously as you can see from my posts.

Oh, so you're the one. Can I shoot you? It migth take a while, cause I'm a lousy shot, so you should stand behind me, that's where the real danger lies...

There is a sign at the entrance to the park that says very clearly "NO FIREARMS". You have to drive in the park to get to the private property so why does that not apply?
http://www.nps.gov/jotr/planyourvisit/things2know.htm
"Firearms, including fireworks, traps, bows, BB guns, paint-ball guns, and slingshots are not allowed in the park."

We heard the gunfire the past couple of Sundays out there. I knew it was the owners up there and knew they were having a great time on the land that they own. I've got no problems with it. It's their land and they're free to do as they wish.
New Jack City....I hear as much if not more gunfire there and no one seems to complain.

For one that law I do believe has changed. Not sure if it is has been put into action yet. Second, they cannot keep us from bringing things that are legal on private land. Certain firearms are legal on private property.

Not that this post will add anything meaningful to yet another raving gun nuts spew-fest, but...
Someone posted 'live & let live'...yeah, that's about right. There's a bunch of you who just wait for incidents like this to turn it into another flag-waving, constitution-waving opportunity and justification to do anything you fecking want to. Stop acting like a drunken idiot at the JT Saloon.
As Randy said, the Cohn ranch is a unique situation- while they have the right to do what they want on their own property, if they had any good sense or respect for other people, they'd at least limit the shooting to times when the traffic is less (i.e. weekdays).
It's not about laws or the constitution...it's about basic respect and consideration for other people. Sheesh.

Isn't the best time to make a little noise when traffic is the greatest?
A little target practice fits right in with the noise and chaos of a typical in-season weekend, especially in that busy zoo between Trash Can and Hidden Valley.
It'd have much more effect on a quiet weekday. ( trespasser deterent effect excepted )
