yeah TGT,
they're loony alright!

The baby is totally hers. She just tried to intentionally kill it by taking that long flight and then driving two hours past other hospitals so the baby could die in her home town.

That woman has STRONG moral ethics. When she says no abortion, she means NO ABORTION. Instead, you have to let your downsyndrome baby die of "natural complications" during the birthing process.

I can't beleive the loony left is questioning her morality!

skip, TGT, you guys just go ahead and keep stroking each other.

The DailyKos link you sent is the work of one, or a few, people. Not a whole group. Ignoring the content of the diary, if you scroll down and read the comments of others, you will find that a huge portion of those comments basically say "This is not appropriate and we should not dignify it with our attention."

People who support both parties are going to spread a lot of vitriol and lies over the next two months. It is a part of political campaigns throughout the world, but it does not serve the best interests of our nation. If you care more about your country than you do about your political party, maybe you should leave behind the useless, inflammatory rhetoric, and start rationally explaining why you support a particular candidate. When someone disagrees with you and can justify why, you might just have to let them disagree.

You might have to deal with some complex ideas at times, but we are all intelligent adults, we can handle it.

another thing edit - if you guys just want to go listen to Rush and O'Reilly, I'll hang out and try not to let Olbermann and Moore make me ill....but I would rather have a frank and open exchange of ideas.

Hanson always has these pyrotechnically brilliant analyses that are so gaudily filled with pompously didactic classical allusions and analogies. Which wouldn't be a problem if they actually had any connection to reality . . . which they don't.

But some people get blinded by the flash.

Meanwhile the Repubs are going to have a telethon for victims of Gustav instead of a convention.

Wonder how this is going to play.

The repubs think they can buy the election to help the "victims". Where were they three years ago? Now it will be a give fest to win votes. Posers.

It looks like Gustave is diminishing to catagory 3. Let's hope so.

Well now that LA has a Repub gov. that has his Shizt together and Nagan is toeing the line it looks like this won't be anywhere near as bad as last time.

The feds have their act together this time also, but the biggest change is at the state and local level. Jendal has his act together. Huge contrast to last time.

Skipt- It's still pretty cute that you keep reposting frothing at the mouth partisan hack bloggers like it is well-reasoned insight. Is that your resort when you can't find any fictions of your own? In any case it's adorable particularly because you always precede it with some canned comment about how "crazy" and "radical" Obama supporters are and then BAM you follow with the most out of hand right wing nutjob you can find.

Voted 5. Please continue.

*edit*

Hahahaha Woody that is too funny. "Now that LA has a republican gov." Howsabout "now that FEMA has a republican apointee leading it." Or maybe "now that the country has a republican president." Yes cause the critical failure last time around was the Democratic Governor and Nagin not doing what his Republican Overlords told him to. These were the weaknesses that lead to the Katrina disaster. Where do you get this stuff.

Like a party that is desperate for voters to forget how badly its leader botched the handling of the last hurricane.

Too many postings to read so may have already been said.
But I find people like Palin a disturbing contradiction.

Irresponsibly and selfishly have 5 children then advocate for utilization of all available natural resources as rapidly as possible for economic growth now.

The question is what kind of planet do people like this envison leaving to all those children?? A monospecies, mined out and paved world with wall to wall people????

Before we change the subject too quickly to the preacher, Palin is disturbing. 5 Children in an overpopulated world. She has a kid at an older age, who ends up with special needs. And the kid won't get the attention it needs because shes a governor, or worse off to be VP.

Protecting the enviroment is conserving it for PEOPLE. The more damage we do the worse off it will be in the future for people. Yeah it sucks for the species we are driving to extinction, but really we need to minimize our impacts because it will be much cheaper to do so now, than to deal with the consequences. But of course the right wing pundits will make it all seem about people vs. spotted owls and fishes, and the selfish people will buy it.

They probably would have had LEB if the Repub. party supported sex ed in school and didn't cut funding for family planning...that's ok, unwanted pregnancies are a gift from "god", so it's just wonderful news for everybody. I guess "abstinence" isn't very effective for preventing teen preg's after all???

Kids having sex is not big deal.

The problem Lois, is that the far right Christian agenda generally not only includes no abortions, but also no sex ed in school and no use of or talking about contraceptives.

So you end up with this. And maybe it's not a big deal for them. Maybe she does get married and lives happily ever after. But for many kids (and their babies), this is not such a good story.

"I personally wish these kids (all of them) would be more careful and use contraceptives. "

I can't agree with you more on this point. The problem is, your favored nominee does not believe in promoting the use contraceptives, they prefer the teaching of abstinence. To close to home for our VP nominee. Perhaps she will re-think her position... Not likely though.

I would like to see the organizations the repub. party has supported (not with prayer or call for volunteerism either) for single, unwed mothers in the last 20 yrs. I've asked this before, please post the links and how much they've allocated to help girls in this situation. I didn't get too many replies from our token conservatives from my last inquiry.

Pretty clear that Palin does believe in artificial birth control, as she has only five children. Her natural fertility would probably have given her more children were it not for birth control.

No big deal about her daughter's pregnancy - Cheney's daughter is a lesbian. So what? People will be people, especially young ones. Her daughter does seem to use too much makeup, which is very odd in a 17 year old. Again, not important - in their social milieu, this stuff is probably common behaviour.

Amusing that Bush and Cheney are hiding in the White House, pretending to be in charge of the response to Gustav - but that McCain is actually going to the gulf. In case he hadn't noticed, he's not president. It's ok to do what Obama did, and offer to help in any way he could. That's the responsible thing. Butting yourself into the emergency when you have no business being there is arrogant.

It's also amusing that the FEMA is being kept on a quite tight leash by the government during Gustav - an example being that reports on the hurricane's progress are being provided by the northern command of your military, rather than NOAA or FEMA. No doubt they've booted the more grotesque cronies from FEMA, but are so afraid of what might happen that they're not allowing much independent judgment.
