Good corporate citizenship has devolved into grinding employees of all stripe for their money, and the business using the cash to make charitable donations that look good on the society page.
And when the companies are collecting donations, it ain't even their OWN MONEY they're taking credit for being so charitable with...

Looks like there may be some common ground right/left here. Amazon's model has developed some real problems, IMO. Not so much with what they pay their workers, rather, with the excessive market power they are developing. What recently got me head scratching was their opening of several brick-and-mortar book stores--that look suspiciously like the ones they put out of business over the last decade. Not to mention the thousands of mom and pops that went under. Update, in some cases they are now charging the same or more for a title transmitted to my Kindle. WTF?
And how the hell did they get the USPS to run around like little lap dogs on Sundays?? While taxpayers lose billions every year.
And now they want to enter the health care market? Hell no. In any event, more likely Bezos is simply leaking press-release influence to sway markets where he holds quite a stash and has no plan to jump in. I guess we'll see.
And yes, as a moderate-to-conservative pro-capitalist guy it bothers me that Bezos has turned a once-decent newspaper, The Washington Post, into his personal blog. "Because Democracy Dies in Darkness." Like he gives a sh#t.
Capitalism needs to be protected from its own excesses from time to time. Amazon is a "prime" example.

President Spanky claims he didn't know about the NDA...? Doesn't that invalidate the agreement allowing Stormy to share all about his Innie..?

And now they want to enter the health care market?
I just saw something about Walmart wanting to buy Humana(I think, it was some health/insurance related thing).
So...what's this all really about? Why would such profit-mongering companies be looking at "getting into the healthcare game?"
Meanwhile - Trump "declares" April to be Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Except April has BEEN Sexual Assault Awareness Month for several years already.
Really, it's just terrifying. How could he be THAT stupid, that he wouldn't understand that 1) there is documentation that it's "already a thing," and 2) That the only thing "new" about his proclamation are the jokes being made about HIM with regards to sexual assault, and he has completely set himself up for it.

That is only one of a balf-dozen reasons the Stormy Daniels NDA is invalid on its face. Stormy Daniels' attorney will very likely get the ruling he wants, that the contract has never been valid.
Trump's attorney Michael Cohen claimed that he set up the LLC, drafted the NDA and paid the hush-money himself, without consulting or notifying Trump. Cohen entered into the contract on behalf of his client, Trump, without his knowledge or permission. That not only invalidates the contract, but should result in Cohen being stripped of his law license.
Of course, all of that is just nonsense. Any reasonable person would conclude that Trump knew all about the NDA, the payment and how it would benefit his campaign. The current fiction is a pathetic attempt to deny that the $130,000 payment was an illegal campaign contribution.
Trump, Cohen and Co. are so worried about the Mueller prosecution machine, and its forthcoming Vulcan cannon barrage of indictments, they have no mental energy to deal with Stormy Daniels. Trump's legal team has made mistake after mistake after mistake. Next week's lies will conflict with last week's lies. They will soon move to privately enforce the terms of the NDA in arbitration, allowing Daniels' attorney to publicly contest the NDA's validity in Federal court before a jury. Avenatti will call Trump as a witness, and Trump will fall into the perjury trap he has set for himself.
Trump and his lawyers are thugs engaged in legal buffoonery.

To play the devil's advocate, why couldn't Cohen enter into a binding contract with Stormy, wherein Stormy agreed to STFU. Under such a contract Trump would have no standing to enforce it. Or would he have standing as an intended third party beneficiary (ius quaesitum tertio)? Probably.
As for the ethics question. Cohen has a duty to Trump to act in his best interest. If such a scenario works for Trump and no laws are broken then there is no harm.
Of course Cohen's version of the events do not pass the smell test. The same BS brought down John Edwards.
Trump will not get a jury on the issue of validity of the arbitration agreement, judge will decide it, but it will be public, with discovery.

Cohen, by himself, could have entered into an agreement with Stormy Daniels, paid her himself, and that would have been the end of it. Trump could have been a third party beneficiary without getting entangled.
But, Cohen is a thug practicing legal buffoonery.
The LLC and NDA were set up in such a way that Cohen represented a client, not himself. They were claiming that Trump was not the client, but are not saying who was. But, if Trump was not a party to the contract, then why is his specific performance (staying silent, and staying away from Daniels) part of what Daniels got in exchange for her silence? And, why is there a place for Trump to sign the contract? The obvious answer is that they were lying.
Trump now wants to intimidate Stormy Daniels with a $20 million judgement for breaking the contract. The LLC can't be a party to arbitration, so Trump is saying that he is the beneficiary of the contract. This directly contradicts everything he and his attorneys had been saying. It also indicates that the $130,000 payment was an illegal campaign contribution, which will bring the special counsel around soon enough.
Legal buffoonery, all the way around.
Instead of just walking away, and letting the porn star talk about "textbook generic" sex in a hotel room, Trump and his thugs keep digging themselves in deeper and deeper. It's as if they are scared Putin will poison them, so they all want to be indicted, convicted and imprisoned as quickly as possible for their own protection.

Maybe Cohen just had a standing order to make those NDA's with the people Trump humped, and maybe Trump had set up a fund beforehand, to be used in such situations. In the Universe of DT, that seems the way he might think/act. "So, in the future, if I ever mention that I screwed(or whatever) So and So, you take care of it, with the funds from this specific account. And we never actually discuss it."
"Me so smart," he thinks, that technically he's not lying.
Perhaps that might be legally so; I'm no attorney.
I wonder how much money, though, if that was the case, his attornies embezzled over the years, deciding "this one isn't in a position to do anything," or realizing that DT has the attention span of a wart and is actually too stupid to hire a third party to balance the account, so to speak.
