Christian Prayer: Heavenly father we do thank thee Lord God for this day, and for many of us who are not only sober from substances Lord, we're not only praising you that we don't use drugs, we're not just praising you because we're not drinking, we're not just praising you because of that, but we're praising you because you have changed us on the inside, not just the outside but the inside. And Lord, we thank you for the transformation work that you're doing on the inside of us because our strongholds have never been our problem. The problem has been how we think on the inside, the way we feel about things and how we let the world system take and influence us Lord. So, we've been living a lie, we haven't been living the Truth. Our strongholds are just a consequence, the result and the symptoms of a behavior problem that we have and the result of the way we think. Lord, we need a transformation on the inside, we don't just need to stop gossiping, we don't just need to stop overeating, we don't just need to stop going to the wrong website, we need you to fix us on the inside so those things aren't an issue anymore. We thank you for it in Jesus' name, Amen.

Drug's aren't your problem, alcohol is not your problem, gossiping is not your problem, overeating is not the problem, going to the wrong website is not your problem, they are just symptoms of the real problem. The real problem is that I didn't know how to deal with rejection and because of that I went to a drink, or I went to a drug or maybe I didn't know how to deal with the resentment or bitterness or the unforgiving spirit I had towards my parents, or friends or relatives or I wasn't treated fair. A lot of times when things do not go the way we think they should go we find ourselves going to substances, or websites and different things of that nature, which are not our problem, our problem is that I need to change on the inside. The problem is there needs to be a transformation going on in my mind, the way I think.
That can be a hard pill for some to swallow when you've been told all your life, "it's your fault, it's their fault, it's not your fault, you're just a product of this or a product of that." True, many of us are or have been a product of sin, a product of child abuse, a product of teenage pregnancy, a product of alcohol abuse, a product of drug addiction; but when does it stop?! When do we stop blaming them and take responsibility and accountability and say, "Hey, I don't want to live like that, I can move forward. I can't just keep blaming those things, or for my behaviour or for my response. At some point I have to take responsibility for my own life and I have to allow God to help me to live the life that He has chosen for me to live."

Okay to stop right there. Nothing more is needed, unless you choose it. And no need to push any more onto anyone else, unless they choose it.

Cintune...you left out the most important part of the sentence which just happens to be what the world is trying to eliminate to this day.
Edit: Cintune and everyone else...just to let you know, I'm not just a punk kid who's bent on trying to push something on anyone. I just happen to be a 47 year old climber myself and have belonged to a Christ centered addiction/behavior modification program for the past 2 1/2 years. I ended up in jail over a porn addiction and now feel I can make a difference in someone elses life before they end up where I did. This may not be for you but I'm hoping to reach, even just one, before they hurt themselves and those in their lives like I did. I'm not going back to the spoon that fed me, I can't, and I won't.

Yep, I'm pushing an agenda, but I don't start these threads and I don't bump them to the top either unless they're already above the fold. The bottom line for me is that it's a choice, just like deciding to climb free, pound pins, pull on pro, or free solo. You can attach ethical judgements to these things and tell everyone what you think they ought to do, but it's still just a choice, and taking personal accountability is all that matters in the end, however you want to dress it up.

May I make a suggestion?
The great majority of the people here, who went through your phase, are either long dead or have been OK for a long time. What you are doing is largely misdirected and so is simply inefficient. My last four years here at ST have led me to believe this.
Surely there are many other opportunities to do effective and direct face to face volunteer work along these lines.
That said we do appreciate the intent behind your actions.

I'm involved in this as well...thanks for the suggestions though. Since Christians are definitely the minority in this world, I'm going to say there are plenty out there that can benefit from this whether it's online or in person.

...as far as "effective and direct face to face volunteer work"...I have to disagree for most advertising and sales is a "direct" result of "indirect" advertising such as media commercials, ad's, internet and other forms of indirect promotional advertising. I, for one, found Reformers Unanimous International via a banner that was posted out front of Mainland Baptist Church in Galloway, New Jersy in '07. I attend to this day here in San Diego county at the Lemon Grove chapter.
