On closer in inspection, it looks to me like that is not a replica skull in the photo.
Around this time, from my neuroanatomy class I had a sheep brain in a jar, but somebody's actual skull? How did he do that?

Here's a letter from NYPD Sgt. Fred Federer of the Bronx, stationed at the 41st Precinct, known as Fort Apache.

I was wondering about how to express the numeral 4,000 as a Roman numeral after I saw your "numbers." It's not possible to write it properly using the regular characters in standard keyboards. "MMMM" is not "literate Latin." It's not like I can just take a chisel and carve a bar over the M or V when I'm using a computer.
Any advice?

I don't know what to say, Sergeant. I don't know how to access special alphabetic or symbolic characters as I am not a trained computer specialist. Perhaps zBrown could throw some light on this subject for you. He seems to have a better grasp by far of technical matters when it comes to computing technology. T HOcking might have some insight...he's a teacher, after all.

I have a question for you, too, Sarge. How come citizens and other policemen address you as Sgt., Sarge, Sergeant, or Seargent (if their dummies). And why, using the same logic, do we refer to the non-sergeants as "officers"? All policemen are "enlisted," not commissioned.
This is very confusing to me and smacks of lazy English-speaking.
I'm also wondering if you ever met Paul Newman, who played Officer Murphy in Fort Apache, the Bronx.

First off, the dude is way out of range in the number of posts by about a factor 2.5.

Badgers are infinitely more interesting than New York which I will point out never had any Apache live there. When they paraded Geronimo (RIP) around the U.S. New York was never even considered.

Truman is a CV (and I don't mean Curriculum Vitae) kinda guy.
"It was very uncomfortable in there," author Truman Capote told reporters as he exited his shortened stay in Santa Ana city jail, on October 23, 1970
Sentenced to forty hours and a $500 fine for failing to report as a witness in a murder trial in the city, concerns over the 48-year-old Capote's health cut the sentence short (to about 18 1/2 hours total) provided Capote paid the fine.
Joseph Morse, already convicted to killing his mother and sister with a rock and a baseball bat, was serving time on death row and was in 1970 standing trial for the murder of a fellow inmate at San Quentin. Capote interviewed Morse in relation to work on capital punishment.
Morse was convicted of the the third murder, but in 1972 California rescinded its capital punishment laws and Morse's sentence was commuted to life imprisonment.
