A supporter of the bundy's just got a 68 year sentence. I don't support their actions but 68 years ? For making idle threats and walking around armed? That's clearly a message to the US people to NEVER speak out against the US government...ever
What's really insane though is we arm terrorists in places like Syria to overthrow their legitimate government
And everyone supports it with taxes. If you don't pay your taxes to fund such chaos and death you will be jailed
Do as we say not as we do...
Oh- and keep in mind we sentenced an actual terrorist who killed a US soldier in Afghanistan to 8 years. He has since returned to Canada where he was awarded 10 million dollars and apologized to...
Our "justice" system is a joke

^^^^ Boy, howdy! The wife was just on a jury that convicted some gang banger of beating his 'girl friend' within an inch of her life (she was in ICU for WEEKS!) and he will probably get only 3 years. I know, he had a rough childhood.

Talk about self-entitled snowflakes. Burleson wanted leniency because he was an alcoholic.

From the Las Vegas Review Journal:
https://www.reviewjournal.com/news/bundy-blm/bundy-supporter-burleson-sentenced-to-68-years-in-prison/
Gregory Burleson, a member of Arizona militia groups who participated in the 2014 armed standoff in Bunkerville, was sentenced Wednesday to more than 68 years in federal prison.
During the standoff, which resulted in federal agents deserting an operation to round up rancher Cliven Bundy’s cattle, Burleson was photographed with a long gun, moving around the sandy wash where Bureau of Land Management agents were headquartered.
After the standoff, he posted incendiary, anti-government messages on Facebook. “I was hell bent on killing federal agents that had turned their back on we the people,” he told an undercover FBI agent who posed as a documentary filmmaker in order to interview him.
I don't have a problem with his sentence.

I don't have a problem with his sentence.
Did he harm another human being? No.
Did he even assault a federal officer? No.
Did he talk sh!t on the internet? Yes.
I guess we should all be rounded up.

I totally think these guys should be punished, we can't have armed militias stalking federal agents. But 68 years is way out of line unless we are missing something major.

Don't know about you but I have never brandished a weapon or threatened anyone.
and then there is this...
Burleson was given two drinks before his undercover interview, and he told the judge several times Wednesday that he has a drinking problem. His health has deteriorated since the standoff in April 2014 — he now is blind, suffers from seizures, and requires the use of a wheelchair.
^ from the Las Vegas Review Journal
Those 3 ailments are easy to fake. Classic 'tough' guy. He is just stressed that he actually ruined his life and will be booze-less till his final breaths.

"Brandishing a weapon" and threatening non-specific people on the intardnet
is worth 68 years? You must be in favor of hanging and the guillotine.
I'm gonna go brandish my weapon now. Oops, I forgot this is a family forum.

Nope, not that either. How did you infer capital punishment from my post? I forgot to add that I think 68 is a too stiff but...
Look up the definition of brandish.

Yeah, but he is guilty of being ignorant. That's worth at least twenty years

Look up the definition of brandish
IF there is a federal law prohibiting 'brandishing a weapon' I
seriously doubt the penalty is as long as the pathetic three years the gang
banger who nearly killed the woman in my wife's trial is going to get.
But, hey, at least he didn't threaten her on the internet.

Reilly, we all have cute anecdotes about the law. A friend of a friend . . . . blah blah blah. however that is not how the law works.
The 68 years might be excessive, on the other hand Burleson is a vile dangerous person who needs to be locked up. The group of them assaulted Federal officers. They have no respect for the law and Burleson expressed a desire to kill them. Now he can sober up, let this be a lesson to the next participants in the on going range war.
Blacks Law Dictionary
Black's Law dictionary defines criminal and tortious assault as "the threat or use of force on another that causes that person to have a reasonable apprehension of imminent harmful or offensive contact; the act of putting another person in reasonable fear or apprehension of an immediate battery by means of an act

Mandatory minimum for his crimes was 57 years.
If I had to bet, I'd guess there's a law out there with the name of a dead cop/fed that imposes serious penalties on threatening feds and pointing guns at them.

Pretty sure we will see a constitutional attack on the sentence. He was sentenced under Federal guidelines, which have generally been upheld. It is a complicated, rigid very objective means of sentencing. Now that white folks are getting screwed maybe they will take a look at it.
