Anyway, where are those photos of Pat and his hotties at the clinic? Is he saving them for the show in Boulder?

I didn't know I was supposed to take pictures of
the therapy. Next time I'll smuggle in my little high
definition flip camera. Problem is, when they work on
that leg I go into a kind of trance, and the footage might
end up being some corner of my under pants.

Hey, that rhymed...

hey there pat, say, i have zoomed in here on this stuff about your writing and the comments of others..

and how you explain your style and i greatly understand it:

using oneself for examples, or one's work, or climbs, too, as a spring-board, deeply and sincerely help give TRUE and solid good examples and helps to reveal situations that you really DO understand that other who may not have seen or understand can then grasp for personl use, as well... or as to those that HAVE seen such things, it gives them cause to go and examine there own situations.... *haha, for fun or profit (as to insight), and this al can be unfolded very well then from you, to them...

say, i had some gal do much emotional damage once, over a small simple sentence that i said one night (and all to give another gal that had HAD a hard time, a gift)...

seems this gal turned on me something fierce, cause i was going to get her the gift...

i learned later that it was HER that had the problem, not me...
and she was doing this:
Most of the people who hate an ordinary joe who happens to be doing his thing are just projecting their own self loathing.

the emotional damage came, sadly, though, due to the fact that i had used all my income tax, a meager 350.00, to travel on a four day train trip, to meet some very special folks, and when she lit-into me, i missed the whole party, due to her anger... :O

well, it is now over, but i sure learned to "believe in myself" from it all, and to trust that my instincts were NOT self-seeking...

*the one can tell if they are self-seeking, is my a "smug" feeeling that sits in the heart, when does a "me, me, me" things... and: lust for greed and attention, will set in too, to cheer this on...

SO THUS: keep on being you, and do your style, and reach out for some more wonderful goals...
god bless...

Here's my comment to the Boulder Camera. Maybe some of Pat's other friends should also add theirs.

"As someone who climbed with both Kor and Ament in the 1960's and is in contact with both of them still, I can assure you that they are still friends and in contact with each other.

As for Pat's style, it seems an artist is never appreciated in his own land. A lot of people can write their own macho climbing stories with simple narration. Only Pat has consistently taken climbing literature to a more artistic and philosophical level. He also makes films and composes original music.

Of course it's easy to criticize, especially when you've never created anything".

Also: "Never pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel."
attributed to various. Presumably the same principle would apply to those who bulk-buy electrons.

I have never felt so much love in one room, as
I did last night at the premier of my film. There
was a standing-room only crowd, and people were so
kind and generous. Quite a number had tears and
were deeply moved. I could tell how well they all liked
the film and how smart they are and insightful. They
truly did get it, and they expressed their thanks in
such a profound way to me. It will be an evening I will
never forget.

Thank you Jan and all my good friends here.

A small P.S., my leg really hurts tonight. I'm not sure
why. Maybe because they made me hobble up to the boulders
on Flagstaff, and even that short stroll up the trail might
have been the wrong thing to do. The leg hurt bad during
the show, but I could mostly ignore it. Afterward, though,
at night in bed at Malcolm's house I suffered. And now again.
I really thought I had made progress and was past this sort
of pain. But it's raging again. If I wasn't so happy about
last night I might be... mad.

hey there pat... say, first off:

wonderful heart-felt cheers for you!

and MANY A SOMEONE in deed!

and now, as to the leg... oh my...

say--i have NOT cleaned house much as all this whole year, due to the awful sciatic pain from that job i had...

wellllll--except for crawling around and hand-brushing the ol' carpet, so:
you can well imagine the cat hair and dust that must have accumulated, in hard to clean spots, so, i finally did a really better and huge house cleaning and now, perhaps i have made a HUGE BLUNDER:

my leg near feels the SAME as it did last year, but on the pain scale, perhaps a only a third-as-bad...

BUT---i am right back where i was A YEAR AGO, i can't hardle walk! and i am very very shocked... and if i had not spent this last few days with the grandkids and surveying my CLEAN house after so very long...

i would be... sad...... :(

*and very much so... AS disapointing it is, for sure...

so----knowing how much worse your whole situation was, i will surely be in your corner rooting and praying for you... it is not fun to slip backwards, especially when near the finish line... :O

keep that ol' vision to the goal... and keep pressing-on... however, with boldness and CAUTION mixed well....
god bless to you this supertopo eve of thanksgiving..

and may thanksgiving BLOOM as the spring... and bring new leg-hopes...

Pat and Neebee-

So sorry your legs are hurting again!

Maybe the message for Neebee is to hire someone to do the cleaning in the future? Also, chiropractors often work well for something like sciatica.

As for Pat, the message must be patience. And time to train your daughters in physical therapy?

Anyway, here's hoping you both feel better soon.

Also hopefully, Thanksgiving will cheer you up. Pat remembering his great show at Neptune's should also serve the same purpose.

Keep posting.

hey there MH2, say, thanks... it is now easier for my ol' computer to make little "trail markers" along the way, on these ol' post here, to help brighten folks's day...

trying to do them, now, when i can... :)

say, jan:
was just going to sleep, after getting caught up with emails and the ol' supertopo here... also seems i'm neglecting some trip reports due to my cleaning agenda as of late, and--spending time with the ol' pup-dog too...

but--i wanted to say thanks for including me in the well wishes... :)

if this keeps up, i think i will try a chiropracter next... the massage therepy helped nearly 100%--but i have not had the chance for the "one last go of it"--and there was one spot that was tight in the nerve, still...

have a wonderful thankful day with friends and family...

Thanks Karl, I am still kind of walking a foot
above ground, even with the injured leg, from the
good will I felt Tuesday night and how well
everyone liked the film. I had feared beforehand
they would wonder "We came here for this?" I
should believe in myself more, because they all
clearly appreciated the film, and that is such a
relief for any artist... to give something and have
it appreciated.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone,

Pat...there was more than goodwill for you in that room the other night, appreciation, compassion, love and a genuine thank you for all your contributions to climbing throughout the years.

Hopefully this film be a great vehicle for people to see a special time in climbing and the very special people who made it happened.

Thank you so much, Bob. It means a lot. The crowd was
an amazing assembly of dignitaries: Jim Holloway, Jim Erickson,
Dave Rearick, Huntley Ingalls, Bill and Roger Briggs, Alex Sharp,
Curt Shannon, Bob D'Antonio, John Sherman, Eric Doub, Michael
Chessler, Malcolm Daley.... and... that was just the front row...

Yes I know about ibuprophen. One night I took three,
and in the middle of the night it felt as though
someone grabbed hold of my liver and squeezed. I got
up and flooded myself with water, and things settled down,
fortunately.

By the way, it's definitely not sciatica. It's another
kind of injury with nerve damage down the front quad to
the knee, apparently...

hey there rokjox... say, thanks so very kindly for the info... i really did not think i'd go participate in either thanksgiving "get together" (seems i had one for at a nieghbors and one for at the grandkids)...

but... today, after staying off my leg while trying to enjoy grandkids yesterday and last night, today, it was actually walkable... :O

*sometimes, it (less pain) seems like a trick, and i am leary to trust this... :O

well---i DID go to both homes, so how true that is, as to your advice...

*say---sure had heard similar news as to the ibupropane, too...
though not as serious--thanks for the add-on news...
i never have it around, but i have taken some on occasions (and it did help me get through needed hours of watching kids)...

also:
happy thanksgive to you, and pat and anyone else stepping in here tonight... :)
