I'm in Hana on Maui and enjoying a full moon right now. I would post a picture but the iPhone just would not do it justice.

I hear you Batrock. I had to leave Mono Lake today....tonight should be splendid there, as well as Tenaya Lake. Would love a picture if anyone can post one.
Tuolumne is wonderful but wet and soggy. Mosquitoes abound. I will return in a couple weeks when things dry out a bit.
The most difficult thing for me in life at the moment is to be amidst such incredible beauty and not have the ability to describe it or express it in words! Language seems so trite, so canned. What's in the heart and soul is a wondrous, rare feeling. Eyes feast on the washed freshness of these peaks and meadows, rivers and streams. And moving among the creation that inhabits these high places is a true celebration of life.
Cheers and a good full moon to the ST Campfire tonight. lynnie

Cheating a little with this one. Only the tiniest fraction of the moon peeking up from behind Mt. Olympus above Salt Lake City. But I thought the lighting on the cloud was nice.
Really should have gotten the shot the night before, when the moon came up earlier above Olympus and the dynamic range wouldn't have been so big.

Strangest thing was seeing Morning Star Venus the wrong color.

Not very sharp due to heat, big city lights, and humidity.
At least we've no fire smoke.

Mouse, MH2, Reilly and Walter...Thanks so much for sharing the beauty you captured! It amazes how the same moon can take on so many changes of wardrobe depending on your place on the planet and what the atmosphere in your area is offering.
I took pics the last couple nights over Mono Lake and hope to share when I get home. Cheers! lynnie

None of these photos are great, but if you've been here they will remind you of the power of the place.
End of the day, high in the hills of Lee Vining after a fresh rain, smelling the desert sage and watching the nuances of light move over Mono Lake. A cold beer, sweet breezes and then the moon, an anchor of our heavens, sailing smoothly into the vast expanse of unmarred sky. No city lights to detract, only the faint outline of hills and a wonderful feeling of peace mixed with joy at the end of the day in the Eastern Sierra.
