Team, I'm loath to do this considering the late date, but I'm going to have to cancel. My dad died last week, and I'm going to have to use the time set aside for this City gathering to make a first pass at wrapping up his affairs. So there's a solo slot at the group site to give away. Super bummed... I was really looking forward to seeing the City for the first time since 1987 and '88.
Climb a couple good ones for me.

How weird!
I've been looking backwards at having met "what's-her-name!"
"HAHAHAHA!"
Or was that the Canadian stick figure person?
Too much wine at the Meatfest, I think...
And now a new image of this person Phylyp is taking root in my pickled, fickled mind.
Aw, Greg, so sorry about your father. And disappointed. But there'll be other days. Condolences abound, indeed.

Greg, the Society of Ex-Texans will drink a toast to your father up in the high camps. I was looking forward to renewing after meeting you at the AAC meeting in Vegas.
Best wishes.

Cheers, Phyl.
I'd be especially interested in meeting folks such as Mouse :)
Thanks for the photos, Spider.. will be my first time in the city, never even looked in a guidebook of the area, only stories from others. So getting stoked, for sure!
..Condolences to Mr. Crouch and family..

I made my trip to Daveco Liquors in Thornton today and stocked up on some decent wine as my contribution to the group. Will bring my large 2 burner propane stove, some paper plates, several rolls of paper towels (work better than napkins!), in addition to a case of red wine (6x 1500 ml).

If we each bring 6 bottles of wine, will that be enough?
I'll bring a couple of gallons.
Picking up my Chianti tomorrow.

Heidi & I did a resupply trip to the big-city today and ran other personal-maintenance errands. (Boise is the Big-City for us).
We are now resupplied for weekend City-bound guests and the City of Rocks party, except for ice and other last minute additions.
I need to amend the party attendee list. The weather is now going from snow to hot at the city, but please remember to bring your rainwear------so it won’t rain.
Sign up now for Wayno’s gourmet Italian meal plan. I swear we are going to limit dining guests to those that pre-reserve!
Here's another updated list for attendees at Twin Sisters Group camp with check-in on Monday June 23 and mandatory checkout on Friday June 27.
Email me or post up on this thread if you would like to camp with us, sans pets & small children.
ATTENDEES FOR (pretty-much) SURE!
Fritz & Heidi*
Donini & Angela*
Ralph T (AK Trad) & friend*
Brokedownclimber*
Spider Savage*
my old pal Mark from Idaho*
Kim & Pete*
Yeti-Monday night only. Yeti will likey not make the party.
ImStein*
lumineferusother? Haven’t heard from him since Feb. Anyone been in touch?
Em kn0t*
Hardly Visible*
Moosedrool* & Mouse from Merced*
Grippa from slc--on meal plan for Mon-Tues*
Jack & Pat & their climber daughter.* Showing up late on Monday, and on the meal plan for Tues-Thurs.
=22-24 people for meals. The max number in the group camp is 30.
phylp is on for dinners*!*
Nearby attendees-across the road from group camp:
Wayno, Marsha & Big Mike*
Likely visitors:
Apolobamba
Philo, Steve W, Crump, ddriver, T, & Gilroy from “up the hill.”
Also anyone that wants to participate in Chef Wayno's 4 deluxe Full-value Italian dinners for $25.00 total, even if they are not at group camp let us/me know. Please sign up by June 19, so Wayno can pre-plan/prepare/pre-cook & freeze the meals.
I put an asterisk * after the attendee name or group to indicate if they are signed up for the dinner plan (currently 22-24 people, although invites are out for up to 1 more).
Namaste!

I'm getting super psyched for this!!
Fritz: What would a standard City Of Rocks rack look like? Is my triple smoke bluffs rack gonna be overkill? I wouldn't mind paring down a bit. Are offsets useful?
Saugy! Looking forward to making your acquaintance!
Spider- I'm weary! Lol got any rack reco's for me?

Saugy! Re your post!

Chef Wayno kindly worked 3 friends of Donini into the dinner plan earlier today, and emailed me that he had a little bit of give in his menu for more people, then two more Donini friends that had not been involved in this thread emailed me for dinner reservations late afternoon.
Chef Wayno is now at work. I have an email into him with your dinner reservation-----but he may be maxed out on meals.
I'll get back to you tomorrow, but for now-----don't count on Tuesdays's Chef Wayno meal for your stay at COR!
Please stop by the group camp! I'm hoping to meet and climb with you!

So matter of fact. So utterly un-Ramsey-like!
Wayno, you are twice blest.
A fine chef, yet with the gift of prescience.
Class, remember this distinctive example of "ST class" for future reference.
Bravo, Wayno!

BigMike - a standard city rack is a double set essentially. the more difficult lines have a higher degree of gear needs (naturally), but that'll get you up 90% of the routes. I usually bring a double set, and set of offset cams for the wonky finger cracks that I like to climb there.
getting PSYCHED!!!
Once everyone gets there I dare someone to calculated the gallons of red wine in the group site then divide it by the number of ppl attending...hahah!

Going to be a bit warm but I've climbed there in early August. Chasing the shade with some midday siestas works well. Shade temps. always fine because of dry air.
Group inertia will work against morning starts to maximize cool temps but i'll make the coffee for those willing to roll out before the sun turns their tents into greenhouses.
Grippa had a good rack for you Mike...70 m rope is nice but not necessary.
Looking forward to the red wine...chianti, malbec, shiraz or pinot noir...cabs and merlots don't work for me anymore.
Don't forget camp chairs and sun showers.
