If I don't know exactly what got him banned then I can't very well be defending it, can I? I'm defending him against the myriad of generalizations in this thread that fatty's presence was "never" a contribution to this site.
*edit*
EDITED:
"you don't know what behavior you're deffending"...
Something many conservatives do...
Interesting that after over a decade of posting here that you don't know my political leanings, you just assume something based on an apolitical post I made. The irony is thick.

My activity in the Supertopo political "campfire" has been extremely low these past couple of years and I see little reason to invest further in it with a poster like fatty gone.
If you weren't around much, then you missed the change in Jeffs demeanor. Fatty got a lot uglier..He got caught up in the back and forth negativity and then he took it a step further, egged on by Werner.
If you love him so much, then start a bring back Fatty thread. Or is it that all you really wanted to do was get up on that high horse?

HDDJ, most of your post is dead-on true about fattrad. Still, I haven't noticed you around as much over the last year or so (esp. in the polititard threads), and fattrad's 'contribution' had become exceptionally more negative, including some personal attacks that were over the line. Anyone who was here regularly over the last year would clearly see this. (Edit: Except most of those on the right, who crybaby about the victimization of Republicans at ST. Poppycock.)
I don't consider his departure to be any kind of victory. fattrad made a choice to comment the way he did, and CMac decided that this was not in the best interests of ST. C'est la vie.

His behavior may have well deserved banning. Nowhere do I imply that he shouldn't have been banned. I'm saying, pretty clearly, that the 10+ years of posting that fatty has done on this site was more substantive and valuable than your average poster. If he got over the top mean and didn't curb his behavior then so be it, but it is dishonest to assert that the most recent and worst of him is all that there ever was.

A lot of us tried to warn him. He didn't' listen.
And most of us who are tired of his sh#t also said that we appreciated the good things that he offered, but enough was enough.
I'm sorry that you weren't around to hear that.

I learned a lot from Crowley too. I'm sorry that he isn't around because he helped me shape some of my political views and when he wasn't being a dick he was hella funny and had some great stories and interesting experiences, but enough was enough.
Crowley banned himself and so did Fattrad.

Why? Jeff is no 'different" that any of us?
EDIT
I didn't follow the threads where Jeff was having a go at Norton, so i cannot comment on those. I think that Jeff is somewhat of a "sh*t stirrer", but other than that, he's been okay. Perhaps it is because he has offered to help me in the past (i.e. picking me up at the airport for my mom's funeral) or that we had a beer and a chat in WC/Creektown (what creek, it's gone, so are the walnut trees).
However, if Jeff was unnecessarily harassing Norton, or anyone, then there you have your answer. I like jeff, and all of you, even though I don't know more than a handful personally.
But it is CMac's forum, so to speak, and if he thinks somebody has crossed the line, well...

Cuz, over a couple months, he harassed Norton regarding his pain medication and his identification and said several time he was trying to make Norton leave the forum. Way different from anyone else here.

Was Crowley kicked out more than 2 times? If so, Fattrad may get another chance.

The poor guy had an especially bad case of taco-itis.
Hope he is getting some sunshine and smelling the roses. Somebody told me I needed to do that once while burning one on top of HD.
He was right.

Perhaps instead of the light being just on or off persons who tread the edge can get warned.
The thing that troubles me is the fear that the taco will get culled down to those in lock step.
Hyde Park was known for being a place disparate views could be aired, not as a place where the Boss and Sir Paul get their cords (chords?) yanked.
(OK, granted, Fatty is more of a Meat Loaf) lol

Oh, he was warned. That is what is so sad about it. The warning(s) changed nothing in his behavior sadly. :/
