Presumably sooner or later Jeb Bush will be pitched as the great white hope of the Republicans, a credible candidate amongst a swarm of no-hopers, flakes, extremists, and plain weirdos.

Palin is over. She knows it, too.
She's a classic media opportunist, who was smart enough to capitalize on her McLame springboard into the realm of rhetorical firebrand. If there's one thing she learned during the '08 campaign, it's that she doesn't even have the chops that Shrub had (that should put things into perspective).
Palin is best with a pre-meditated speech (perhaps inscribed on her hand), but she knows damn well she can't do an interview with anyone (FauxNews or Katie Couric) and come off as believable.
Too bad, too, because she could serve her country best by running and obtaining the GOP nomination, where she would die a firey political death. This would be the greatest service she could render to us all.

FOR RETIREES, a real-estate nightmare. “With home prices falling for nearly five years, many Americans now must consider what to do with their homes should prices continue to collapse and the equity in their homes — if they are still lucky enough to have any equity — disappears completely.”
When you create a massive housing bubble by forcing banks to lend to people who do not deserve loans -- this is what you get.

AHHHH THE JOYS OF GOVERNMENT "EFFICIENCY":
YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT REST: Washington Post: Million Dollar Wasteland: A trail of stalled or abandoned HUD projects. “The federal government’s largest housing construction program for the poor has squandered hundreds of millions of dollars on stalled or abandoned projects and routinely failed to crack down on derelict developers or the local housing agencies that funded them.” It’s like it’s just a bunch of corruption masquerading as an effort to help the poor.

Rotting -- who hires people to work -- poor people or rich people?
I have never once -- not once -- gotten a job from a poor person.
Punish rich people with higher taxes here? They can easily leave and take their wealth and job-creating capacity elsewhere.
Basic. Economics.

Apo -- another non-response to ideas that cut against your liberal-addled brain.
Do you liberals ever -- I mean EVER -- reflect on the assumptions that undergird your views on the world?
Lets ask this -- if global warming is real, and is caused by carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels -- as Obama fully believes -- why on earth would he allow the following?
ENERGY CAVE: In the middle of the night, President Obama approves more drilling: “In what can only be described as a victory for Republicans, President Obama has, in the wee hours on a Saturday morning, announced that he will direct federal agencies to approve more drilling for oil and gas off the Alaska and Gulf coasts. His motives are transparent, even to Reuters. . . . The question is, why announce a big policy reversal at the quietest moment in the news cycle? Well, because it is a reversal, which point both victorious Republicans and anti-oil liberals will be making as loudly as possible with delight and outrage, respectively.”
Related: Obama: Hey, Let’s Start Drilling In Alaska! “I guess demonizing the oil companies isn’t having the desired effect.”

REMEMBER -- OBAMA WAS GOING TO BE A UNITER!
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Demagoguery 101. “The El Paso speech is notable not for breaking any new ground on immigration but for perfectly illustrating Obama’s political style: the professorial, almost therapeutic, invitation to civil discourse, wrapped around the basest of rhetorical devices — charges of malice compounded with accusations of bad faith. . . . This impugning of motives is an Obama constant.”

The liberals in NY better build a moat around the state to keep the youth from leaving!

HIGHER EDUCATION BUBBLE UPDATE: Donors get wise: “Donors are increasingly aware that universities routinely (and unfortunately) perform a bait and switch. Grants to study free markets create self-sustaining hives of academic Marxists, gifts to create Christian lecture series turn into annual celebrations of atheism, and grandchildren watch in horror as their grandparents’ wealth is used to fund, advance, and sustain values their grandparents would find abhorrent. Simply put, the ideological monoculture has proven that it can’t be trusted with donor money, so savvy foundations are looking for ways to fund education without funding indoctrination.”

Have any of you ever gone to a TEA party rally?
It is amazing to see people come together, dress and act appropriately, and then leave the location oftentimes cleaner than when the event started.
Then, go to a liberal rally. The folks are angry, profane, mean, vicious, slovenly, and the location is covered with litter when the event is done.
A neat little window into the difference between conservatives and liberals.

SUAP - "Punish rich people with higher taxes here? They can easily leave and take their wealth and job-creating capacity elsewhere. "
You say that taxes for rich are somehow a "punishment" when... They knew what they were doing before they started on their personal journeys toward ultra-wealth.
You act as though taxes are some new thing, though, as long as I've had a job I've had to pay taxes.
I don't blame you for aspiring to be one of them and so willingly believing and repeating they're cry's, but really, what's the difference between the rich's cry for less taxes and the poor's cries for more hand-outs/public services?
What's the difference (to you) between a government subsidy to a corporation or a farmer, or a land owner and a welfare check for the poor?
And some may say that regulations make it impossible for liberty to exist in the US, but I'm a little too skeptical of business to do the right thing, to do the American thing: Business, in the pursuit of bigger profits will well anything to anyone, and if there are no regulations on anything, then anyone may promise to deliver a running car but actually produce nothing more than a steaming pile of dog shite for you at signing. You want to be sure that that company that promises cheap fuel for 100 years is not pumping millions of gallons of toxic soup into the water tables to get at the fuel, ruining the local water for 100's of years.
I want to make sure that in it's pursuit of profits business does not destroy the entire landscape of what once was the greatest country in the world.
One must recognize that times were better when everyone had something.....
What do you go right now?
7 have's, millions of have not's?
