Good Friday evening from the all-you-can-drink Maple Leaf Lounge in Toronto, eh? I would like to thank my sponsors TD Visa, Amex Canada and Aeroplan for this free flight to and from Rome, NY.... Er Italy

Meeting my beloved Anita514 for a couple romantic nights inna Chianti, then on to a Mediterranean cruise aboard the Celebrity Reflection, balcony suite and drink package included, of course.

Going to meet Pelut in Barcelona - Look Out, Danger! Or something like that....

its friday, the weather is nice -get on your bikes and ride!
Then drink....

I did that. Just not in that order. So is it okay if I went out for beers with my work crew and then got on my bike? Or do I have to start all over again... This is very confusing.

And even more confusing is your decision to try to drink pinto grigio.

Trails were ridden and now a glass of crisp pinto grigio with cheese while the post ride tub is drawn

A horse wouldn't fit into a wine glass. Not even if it was a very small horse. So I think you must be talking about beans. But why you'd put beans in a glass is... Well, yeah, confusing.

Bon soir Monsieur Shipoopoi,

Not sure, but the start of June looks to be an Excellent Adventure with Blue and E. That being said, second half of June is open. Maybe you and me could consider Flying Monkeys within our realm, or something else? It would be a Disaster not to keep our plans Plastic enough to climb together again.

I'm sorry. I apologize. Please forgive me. Let's climb again!

I am bringing green cans for you to die bridge, your favourite!

I scarfed this from the Air Canada lounge... Napa Cabernet. In my Gatorade bottle. After security.

Just drove 4600 miles in the last 102 hours, made it to the Chris Bonington slideshow with 45 minutes to spare.
Finally home with a crown and ginger keeping my hand cool in a hot bath keeping my butt warm.
I love my job, but I really seem to like it when it’s over..

^^ Hey Christian, long time no see. Aquarian Wall? You in Colorado? Good to hear from you eh?

Here we are in the Centre of the Wine Universe* - Greve in Chianti, Tuscany, Italy. 5 star B&B, with more Gallo Neros than any barnyard. To wear the black rooster, Chianti Classico must be at least 80% Sangiovese. Tomorrow's mission, besides wine, is to hunt down some runny wet Gorgonzola!

^^ No sleep in 24 hours, no food in way too long, can you say "Hangry?" They hadn't even brought the wine yet. Can you imagine what happened when they brought Anita514 the fresh bread, balsamic vinegar and the locally made olive oil?? Can you say, "mau down"?

*too bad Anita and I don't really like our wines so dry! Hope to get to Amador County next month.

Yer killin' me here, Pete. I would be grateful to be in Greve. The secret to enjoying those "too dry for me" Italian wines is in the food. I think those wines are some of the best in the world but I rarely drink them without the right food to accompany them. Then they are magic.

See if you can find a wine called Rosso dei Notri by Tua Rita. They make a very expensive cult Merlot that is unreal but this inexpensive blend by them is a great value and the tannins are a bit more friendly to the North American palette.

Two of these.
Just cracked a third. It’s my Friday. Just pulled 3 x 12-14 hour days solving first world problems, wiping butts, putting out fires, and tolerating Canadians. Was hoping to go to a SUPER not SECRET spot tomorrow, but it’s suppsed to rain up to 3”. So.... maybe get drunk tonight then go kite the bore tide in the rain tomorrow?
The combo of smoker porter, smoked salmon, and smoked marijuana is a nice way to unwind.
I had to share a bit of all of the indulgences with the ski hound, but there’s plenty to go around tonight.

Purple Moon Shiraz at the center of the universe, the El Cap Bridge. We schlepped a bunch of stuff up to the base today, and I led the first pitch of Ned's Excellent Adventure.

God willing, it will be the third ascent and my 60th different El Cap route.

Pretty exciting, with some tough nailing and lots of hooking and some heads. It got exciting near the top when I ripped out a pecker and took a 20-footer... Yikes!

I’m leaning against the captain right now.
Beer in hand.
I’m on vacation, so day of the week doesn’t matter much...

The stars are beautiful tonight.
The curve of the south east face is like a welcoming hug.

Too long away, for reasons that seem absurd, this is where I feel most alive.
Fiddling bits of metal into a hunk of stone, a fool’s errand to be sure.
There are no answers up here, yet nor are there any questions.
It just is.
I just am.

Nicely written, Christian. Thank you for your gift. Sorry I missed you. Did you send?

Down from Mirage with E. and Blueblocr. EL Cap route #60, 755 nights on El Capitan.

We have hundreds of pounds of gear on Thanksgiving Ledge above the West Face. It is six or seven hundred feet of low-angle hauling to The Summit. I fear that our only viable option to get the junk Show down is to rap in from the top, and rap the entire route to the base. Wish us luck!

In the meantime, I shall be opening a cold bottle of Oakey buttery Chardonnay in the center of the universe, no place I would rather be.

Except I miss my beloved Anita 514, so I will get home as soon as possible.

Glad you got it and were able to read it.

We had a glorious respite on Lay Lady, but opted to rap from the tower. Much shorter hike back to the car...

It was good to get back on the horse, I shall return when the weather is cooler.
