There is speculation that the Federal government might be in the process of arresting those morons that pointed rifles at law enforcement a year ago
Stephen Dean was an active participant at Bundy ranch. The indictment might be sealed until all criminals are arrested
From a right wing nut job website:
BIG NEWS FROM THE BUNKER:
John Darash has sent you a group email from National Liberty Alliance.
NLA emergency message from Eric; Courtroom Observer Director
As many may or may not know National Liberty Alliance Utah State Coordinator Stephen L Dean was arrested late last week on trumped up charges.
Please call the following concerning his present condition and ask why they executed an unsigned warrant with no sworn affidavit and why is his case sealed?
Jail ask for Sargent Hansen 801-851-4210
Marshal James A Thompson 801-524-8693
State police lieutenant colonel Daniel Fuhr (801) 965-4518,
FBI Special agent in charge Mary Francis Rook 801-579-1400;
Utah county sheriff Jim Tracy 801-851-4001,
Judge Dee Benson 801-524-6160,
Colin Bircumshaw the Vicar General for Utah 801-328-8641.
Ask these 4 questions:
(1) Why would you violate 18 USC 922/G1 by placing a firearm in the hands of a convicted felon?
(2) Why would you execute a warrant with no signature from a judge? The clerk does not qualify...
(3) Why did you take Stephen Dean 60 miles to another county for detainment?
(4) What is your relationship with Colin Bircumshaw the Vicar General for Utah?
Please stand with Stephen, when your time comes you will hope for the same.
Thank you,
ERIC HUGHES

Clearly it's bogus since he was "arrested late last week on trumped up charges."
However, I would like to know why
ERIC HUGHES Court Room Observers 585-730-9220
doesn't have a toll-free number.
Can't this group qualify as a non-profit?
This link works. I didn't read it yet, but here's the conclusion (for those who won't read the whole thing).
http://www.wildearthguardians.org/site/DocServer/Report_Mortgaging_Our_Natural_Heritage.pdf?docID=962
The Bottom Line
Former Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt has written that federal public lands livestock grazing “is the most damaging use of public land,”35 and reams of scientific studies support that assertion.36 Federal public lands grazing is also among the most expensive public lands boondoggles foisted on American taxpayers.
The Government Accountability Office determined that federal grazing programs cost at least $144 million annually (minus grazing fees). A separate economic study conducted by independent and BLM economists found that the direct and indirect costs of BLM and Forest Service public lands grazing are probably much higher, between $500 million and $1 billion per year.38 It is estimated that 25 percent of the Bureau of Land Management’s budget is spent directly or indirectly on public lands grazing, and paltry federal grazing fees ($1.56 per AUM in 2006) do not even begin to cover the costs of the BLM grazing program.
These fiscal costs do not account for the massive environmental costs or the social and economic trade-offs involved in public lands grazing. While the federal government spends countless dollars to support public lands ranching—including myriad indirect costs for fencing, cattle guards across roadways, protecting fragile riparian areas and archeological sites from livestock, habitat improvement and restoration, invasive species removal, fire control, and monitoring of livestock—other, more valuable opportunities to use and recreate on public lands are squandered. Recreation and tourism are more important to western state economies than livestock grazing, both in terms of employment and income, but federal grazing programs steal resources from and rob the potential of these alternative economies.
The bottom line – public lands grazing in the West is neither economically nor environmentally sustainable. It is an antiquated industry, as outmoded as whaling in today’s oceans.41 It is doubtful that the industry could survive without government subsidies and operating loans backed by publicly owned grazing permits. Still, the industry persists as one of the mystical “Lords of Yesterday.”42 The cowboy myth of ranching, despite a colorful history and a vibrant mythos, now masks a multitude of sins.

How, and with what justification, does the Nevada legislature think they
can over-rule federal law? Am I missing something or am I giving them more
credit than is due?

Supremacy clause. Nevada can't do shite about federal public lands besides waste tax payer money passing and defending facially invalid laws.

I'm surrounded by ranches here in cattle country, and not one, not one rancher that I've talked to is in support of Bundy. Almost everyone of them lease federal land too.

Yep, there will be plenty of people supporting the free-loader, mostly from out of the state. Will be a good opportunity for the Feds to pick up more of the criminals from a year ago.

I strongly suspect Idaho's legislature is more right-wing and more wacky than Nevada's legislature.
However, they gave up on passing a bill to seize Federal lands after Idaho's Republican Attorney General said it would be illegal under existing state & federal laws.
The Idaho Legislature Public Lands Interim Committee Releases Report!
The Good News
The report indicates that Idaho does not have a constitutional or legal argument that would advance the cause in court. In other words, it is unconstitutional to demand the United States cede the land to the state.
Additionally, economic research from the University of Idaho show that under moderate economic conditions, Idaho is likely to lose 64 million dollars a year if it was to take management control of our public lands.
The Bad News is the committee wants to use our tax dollars to create another committee to keep trying to grab those Federal Lands.
“Simultaneously, the Legislature should consider authorizing and funding……a full-time, staffed position and administrative assistant and establishment of a permanent commission or working group to implement recommendations adopted by the Legislature and signed into law……Transfer of federal jurisdiction should be seen as and supported as a long-term effort, worthy of annual appropriations starting at $250,000.”

I'd like to go up there and lend some support to Bundy (at least he didn't kill a whole bunch of women (that we know of)).
However, to my everlasting chagrin, I have misplaced the bolt to my rifle. It doesn't get used a lot so I think it's understandable.
Stay strong Cliven.
Do you think he's feeling a little jealous of his namesake?

Ted Bundy tried to pick up my would-be wife in a Safeway in Seattle.
How did he get to be a rancher?

Does it peve you off to see people standing for their rights?
Hell no it doesn't. It does kind of peeve me that folks are attempting to stand on top of people for rights that they do not have.
Reilly. So many shots to be taken on that one, that I'd risk shooting myself in the foot.

Does it peve you off to see people standing for their rights?
Does not peve me off in the least bit Ron, this is a free country. I served 4 years to protect their right to demand a free lunch. If they get a free lunch then good for them. Between you and me there will be no payday for any of them on this one. They might want to set their sights just a little lower, maybe not try to grab 85% of Nevada.
The politicians will make some hay with the right wing. Does that make you happy? Your tax dollars hard at work. Okay, maybe it is not hard work. On the bright side, this keeps those nutters busy. Idle hands are the devils workshop.
