Asparagus before broccoli.

Very nice pix, DMT.
And I liked the ones in the Picture a Day thread, too!
You must have taken that long shot of the shore from the lighthouse. Cool!

Troubled bridge over water. Coulda been a contender for the "Cool Bridges" thread if only it had not fallen.

Satisfyingly satisfied that all that could be done about the Broncos' chances against the Pats, and not especially wanting to go to a bar to watch the game while wanting to drink more beer than is good for me, I opted to go with the flow.
I put on my shoes and Levis and pondered. Then the phone rang at 12:30 and it's the Rev, so it's off to a different rodeo.
We made it all the way to Oakdale, Cowboy Capital of the World.
Did we see some broncos? Sho' nuf, pard!
the Rev Mathis had a surprise for me. He kept telling me we should go see Willie Nelson. So we did. Up close and personal.
Wayne raises mules of the smaller variety and keeps busy in his shop in the barn.
I'll tell you some more about this afternoon later.

If you fall I will catch you.
Time after time.
Flames Involved in Sunday Drive-By Shooting
Details at eleven.
According to eyewitlesses who wish to remain unidentified, shown here in these photos, two "sloppily-dressed" men visited a small ranch near Oakdale and another one further out in the country, shooting with abandon anything they could see.
No one was injured, it is believed, though some valuable ceramic displays were possibly damaged.

Yawn. Double yawn. Not much sleep on the flight down from FAI to SeaTac.
But now I am here in safe, stable Seattle, where I have a long layover before my flight home.
Moose, I did not see any drool on the the yard moose, but two calves nearby who were kneeling to gnaw on some berry bushes appeared to be drooling.
Yes, zB, I not only felt the quake, but all the closet doors were rattling, items were dancing on the shelves, and when I felt the first big heave, I jumped up, slipped into my shoes and grabbed my fur coat in case I needed to get out of the house. I stood in a doorway for a while until the shaking stopped. We were far from the epicenter up in Fairbanks, but it was the talk of the day yesterday. Some inured old Alaskans slept right through the whole event. My neighbor across the way slept through it, but her granddaughter woke everyone up, screaming that the house was falling.
Still dark here this early morning in SeaTac, and I am sitting under the fins and feathers gorgeous installation in the main hall. Outside there is a gathering of tail fins of Alaska Air, smiling at me. My flight has not been posted yet. In a few minutes, I will wander around and forage for some coffee. I have removed my snowboots (Baffins) which were an integral part of my wardrobe in Fairbanks.
Yesterday, I hiked up to the Large Animal Research Center of UAF and said hello to the musk oxen and caribou who live there. Usually I ski up to visit them, but my skis are still down in balmy Montana (expected high today of 37F).
And that is the full trip report so far. No climbing except over snow banks. A lot of post-holing through deep snow as I took some hikes. Snow more than knee deep in places. A fun time.

I had to "like" that on FB, neebee, even though the little dino has to learn to PUSH the snow and NOT TO LIFT the snow.
That can irritate the spine and can make the little dino sore.
You take care out there in the frosty air when clearing your space for your car, too!
Here is a funny foto of a playful saddle horse and its rider I thought you'd like, along with a couple of other pieces of art that Wayne keeps in his shop in the barn.

the Rev and I were invited by Wayne to take a ride over to his girl friend Lu Ann's little place, some distance further out in the boonies.
Wayne wanted a chance to drive his behemoth Ford crew-cab pickup. I got a nosebleed from riding so far off the ground!
Here's a selection from that ride in the deep dairy country. Lu Ann told us that the huge mega-dairy next to her place is defunct and is being dismantled for the scrap.
The land is going to be needed for almonds, most likely, just like many of the parcels of good grazing land in many of the rest of the eastern SJV counties.
I look at it as evolution. Many smallish family dairy operations were eventually replaced by mega-dairies, and now the mega-dairies are having to face up to the competition and sell out the land to whomever they can.

Nice dino neebee.
ff: I never much paid attention to the earth shaking until I was on the 38th floor in Century City and the whole building started swaying. The building had an almost entirely glass facade. We were warned to stay away from the windows because enough swaying could sent everything flying against them. Kinda like the bridge up yonder.
I thought U.S. had gone metric. Can we just get some congruence? I guess it really doesn't matter if your sockets are nailed to the wall.
