FWIW: Brutus and I drove the dirt road (marked as 27 on Fritz's detail map) south from CoR to Lucin; I think that was in 2008. As I recall, good dirt roads, easy driving, no services and only a few tiny settlements of unknown inhabitants ("yew shure got a pretty mouth"). It cut off some miles, but maybe not much time. YMMV! Be sure your spare tire is pumped up.
PS Thanks Fritz, for the detail maps

I always wanted to visit Oasis.
Seriously. We get there when we get there.
What's the rush?
Let's simply enjoy the ride!

Actually, Interstate travel's a no-brainer, pretty much, so we better stick to them like I-510 rubber. We have 88% of our brain power left, my calculatin'. It's not enough to go traipsing through the Howling Buckaroo just to get a Trip Report or risk becoming embroiled in Deliverance Redux .

Mouse, Mouse Mouse. These Google Earth images do make the ghost town of Strevelle look like a must see. It was a major roadside-attraction before the interstate got built in a different location back in the 1950's.

Let me make one of my last decisions.
I recall Wayno said 7:00 to 7:30 PM would be fine with him and that's fine with me too.
I'm thinking Monday's feast might be a tad-late due to final grocery shopping in Twin Falls, and camp set-up.
We can certainly have hors d'oeuvres & something to drink somewhat earlier.

7:00 to 7:30 sounds good to me private. Plenty of sunlight left and adequate time for the troops to negotiate some of the routes prepared by the indigenous personnel.
edit: Fritz, do they have a Whole Foods in Twin Falls?

Fritz, do they have a Whole Foods in Twin Falls?
Good question. Nothing but the best for this crew. By budget has room for it.

I still may be able to join for a few days next week. Room for extras? bring anything essential other than youthful excuberance?

By all means come...exuberance will be abundant, but not necessarily the youthful variety.
Off for some afternoon bolt clipping.

No Whole Paycheck Foods in Twin Falls. Our favorite supermarket there is Winco, which is a regional chain with great prices.
Also in Twin Falls are: Costco, Fred Meyer, Smiths, Albertsons, and Walmart.
There is a new Whole Paycheck foods in Boise, but the local's fav there for Health foods and a huge wine selection in a separate store, is The Boise Coop.
Grippa! Welcome aboard. Bring a camp chair and rainwear so that it won't rain. Do your want to partake of Chef Wayno's bargain gourmet dinner plan. If so, it would help his planning if you share what nights you might want dinner?

Fresh snow above City of Rocks this morning from City of Rocks Facebook page.
Hopefully next week will be a wee-bit warmer, but not hot, and a lot less windy.
47 F for a high today, with gusts up to 25 mph.
Forecast for next Monday is 80 F.

Howdy campers.
Mary and I are starting a road trip this weekend, and we're planning to go to COR on our way to Wyoming.. should be around the same time as you folks..if all goes according to plan.
I don't get to spend too much time around the virtual campfire of the Taco, but i still enjoy the stories and try to contribute when i can.. maybe we'll get to meet you all and to share a story or two in the flesh, so to speak..
or maybe a rope even?!
Besides, I read that Big Mike is coming.. Still haven't met, and we're practically neighbors!
Cheers, Don

Ya BigMike bring the whole shooting match for clothes.
I'll probable be eating with ya'll on Monday/Tuesday nights. Probably go and get pizza on Wednesday or bring something. Should I plan on bivying at the groupsite or is it maxed out? I got no problem going down to the blm zone.

Saugy/Don,
It's always a blast to meet other Tacoans! I'm looking forward to meeting ALL kinds of new people.
Except the Mousey Mercedian. I've already met him. So I can't really look forward to meeting him. But I am looking forward to seeing him again.
