Hey all-
I'd planned to wait until the 25th, but saw this thread update, got all excited, and figured the first day of Hannukah was close enough :) Gifts & goodwill no matter how you slice it.

My Santa stayed a mystery, but I suspect she is a fellow girl due to the understanding that girl climbers *never* have enough hair ties. I've actually used climbing tape in desperate moments.

AND (s)he has kinfolk in the same small, flat, midwestern town as my parents, where I am marooned without climbable rock for the next week. Look forward to using the excellent gift next week when I am headed to eastern granite!

Thanks, Strider for being awesome & holiday cherish and getting it all rolling. This truly brought me many smiles through the season.

Safe climbing and happy happy holidays to everyone!

Weee!!! Got my gift in the mail and took about zero seconds to decide to open it immediately! But whoa, it wasn't one but 3 gifts!?! Thanks Strangeday!!!

The first gift was a vhs video of cliffhanger. Now perhaps many would think, who watches vhs anymore? But not if you just bought a new VAN with a tv/vcr in it! woohoo! that was the perfect gift!!!!!! I can't wait to go on my next road trip now!! (like i needed MORE inspiration!)

but wait, there's more...
I got what appears to be a home-knit hat, so pretty and fits perfectly!

and...
a french climbing shop shirt. it doesn't fit me, but my it fits my partner who has yet to buy a new shirt since I've known him (just over 5 years now, is there still hope?), so it's great!

Thanks again! Sorry no photos, I'm generally internet retarded.

I love secret santas!
Wonder if mine got hers? Hope she likes it. it's my best attempt at a homemade climbing gift.

I like that there is a high percentage of lurkers participating in this.

Happy Holidays!

Awesome!! More than a few people I told said "nobody has VHS anymore", but I tossed It in anyway, I'm glad you can actually use it. My wife made the hat...

Here's a pic I took before mailing... Glad you liked it crustie!!

Secret's out! I'm your Secret Santa Hucklebear! Hope you like it all. :)

Though you are not a prolific poster, I studied your photos to see you have a pony tail so I hoped the pony tail holders would be useful. I too have used tape in moments of desperation. (I kept the other half of the package. :))

And the stalking, er, studying of your contributions showed you trad climbing so I got you the colorful biners - can't have enough of them.

And the Cliffblocks - yum. Who wouldn't like those?

I do have family where your parents are. Be cool if somehow they all knew each other.

Happy holidays!

Hee hee! Such fun!

Yup - lots of we lurkers :). I too could not wait until sundown to open my package. I got the awesome book "All That Glitters" by Margo Talbot from John Butler (same alias and name - yeah!) Thanks so much for the book! I actually met Margo up in Canada when we both ended up helping mutual friends paint their deck (trying to keep said friends from killing each other) and I have seen her fairly regularly when I am up there since so it is pretty darn cool to get the book. One of those "have been meaning to buy it" items but now, there it is ready to be read. THANKS!!!! And no photos from me either since as another lurker, that is beyond my posting skills :).

My Secret Santa package has arrived. The contents of the envelope give off a nice metallic ring when shaken. Thanks Secret Santa from Goleta California.

pocoloco1 - I think I was there when your gift was bought. I didn't even know that person was a Taco lurker until they said what it was for! Small climbing world.

Wow, Crimpergirl, you did your research on me ;)
I don't mean to lurk, but have only been climbing for a few years, so I use the site as a tremendous resource and have been shy to post up.

I love the Shot Blocks; those or Stingers are always in my pack. And every climber in the whole world needs more wire gates.

I hope my giftee posts up; I went the handmade route and was psyched with the result.
Merry Christmas to you!

I bet a bunch of the lurkers(like me) are just groovin' on the groove ya'll have found.
I dig it, in a big way.
I even got a package, though it was in a different vein, it's the same giving spirit.
I sent our prospective ropemate Treez a magazine a while back. He responded with great Lavishness. Sent me a great package of appreciation. Wow! Blew me away, it did.
Just singin' yer praises, bro. You're an enthusiastic gent, that's sure. I like that. We'll get together, I'm sure.

It has nothing to do with waiting, it has to do with extending. Why celebrate one day when you can extend it and celebrate for one or two weeks. :) Treat yourselves! You deserve it.
