I love playground equipment too, Mr Gill! Glad to hear you are still pulling despite those shoulders.
Bodyweight exercises can be done anywhere at any time and give an excellent workout when done for time or for reps. Pullups, pushups and air squats - full body workout.

16 mile jog, although the last 4 were pretty sad.
I'm jealous of those of you who actually like distance running--I've taken it up as I'm out of climbing for a few more months with injuries, but it's more torture than fun for me.

Slickrock at Dawn! (coming to a photo essay near you!) Regular white man running shoes. Too cold to work into those five finger dealies.. after a month of of mostly new hard wide cracks my fingers and toes are chapped bleeding stumps. only 2.5 miles, May go back with the light shoes after todays climbing.
Cold and windy today...

Sweet, Jaybro; I look forward to the TRs.

Today, 10mi with "just one hill" in the awesome Wunderlich Park; would have been 9, but for route-finding difficulties. Also some cycling to and from the gym, where me and my posse sent way dab projs.

Put air in the tires.

Finally enough daylight at both ends of the day, and warmth to pedal my ass to work

Finally a nice weekend. I climbed (snow slog) Defiance in the Gorge, setting tracks for the last 1,000' vertical. Light and fast. Was joined on top by quite a few Mazamas, so the track back was smooth. Lovely matched set of blisters.

Today I dragged my 100 pound load up to Chocolate Falls. I had not done a big carry the day after a climb before. It was a death march. The sun was shining. There better be a fitness payoff here.

Saturday was definitely aerobic. Sunday was brutal work, but probably not aerobic.

Ran for 3/4 an hour this morning with the dogs off trail, got lost, looked at my legs and found a bakers dozen of ticks on them. Ran home faster.

Paddled a couple miles, flatw#ter to class III, thereafter.

Spring is here!

28 miles of rocky, hilly singletrack in the old fart (45+ men) endurance division at the Granogue (DE) Mountain Bike Race this weekend (yes, I am well past 45, but that is the last age group cutoff :-( ).

I did not finish last. I even managed to beat a few of the under 45s.

I did not cough up a lung after (thank you albuterol).

I had fun.

Then got home to see a friend RAN a marathon in HALF the time it took me to bike only slightly further. Aarrghhh!

Woke up at 8am on Saturday at Bunny Flat parking lot (Mt. Shasta). Was supposed to leave at 4am but had a shitty night. Got ready and head out solo for a day of cardio. On the summit in 4hours 50mins!!! My best time so far!

Vitaliy M, lovely TR!!! How great to have an aerobic workout with those sort of views.

All I did yesterday was 6x200M in Central Park with 90-second rests. Short tough workout.

Nice, Vitaly! All I did was carry a heavy pack up a hill, run a rope up to where I needed blues and only had reds, bail, then belay on a more worthy project....

I did about 21.5 yesterday afternoon on the road bike. It was pushing on to 100 degrees when I was out. Too soon to be that hot!!!

Despite my best efforts to destroy my legs over the weekend, 5 miles came easily on Monday and Tuesday. Also got in two gym workouts. Nice!!

Yesterday's weather was too good - 70 and sunny. Inspired, I signed up for the Happy Girls Run 1/2 marathon in Bend at the end of the month. So what if I haven't run more than 8 miles in a couple of months. Don't let reality cloud your judgment when the race advertisers "handsome pacesetters". I ran ten miles - and the legs turned to lead half way through. Now I have empirical evidence that mountaineering isn't a perfect cross training substitute for road running.

Good on ya fer gettin' it done Seamstress!

A few years back, I signed up for a half marathon. Hadn't really done much running in quite a few years, although it would have been a cruise when I was in my 20's. Started training... stretching out my runs, etc. About a month before the event, I jacked a muscle in one calf in a big way. Over the next month before the event, my workouts consisted of mountain bike rides because I couldn't run on it. The week of the event, it was feeling sort of okay. The friend I signed up with said she was going to still do it, despite having some back problems, and would just walk if she had to. I decided to do it anyways and just run with her. She never did walk. I made the distance, although the last three miles were torture. Took me about five days to start walking normal again...
