So now you are saying that ANY scientist that believes in GOD is not a real scientist??
I can get behind that...because scientist should know better...if they were at all educated...

Great piece on NPR yesterday, made a point that I never thought about before. Governor Romney, and it appears, many others say they acknowledge Climate Change, but not that it is (significantly) caused by Humans.
http://www.npr.org/2012/10/25/163643430/on-climate-policy-romney-walks-a-tightrope
"The flaw in that argument is that contrary to what he says, there is a consensus among climate scientists about the extent of human-induced warming and the degree of risk to the planet," says Gary Gutting, a science philosopher at the University of Notre Dame.
He says since Romney is not a climate expert, he has to make the same decision the rest of us non-experts do. Do we trust the National Academy of Sciences and other experts or not?
Gutting says once you decide to trust an expert, you can't just bail out anywhere, as if you were in a cab.
"You have to stay for the whole ride that the driver's taking you on," he says, borrowing another philosopher's metaphor. "You can't accept their authority for one dimension of the discussion and then say, well, we'll forget about it for another dimension of the discussion."
Logical or not, that's exactly what a lot of Americans do.

Here's a good example of modeling in action - none of these 17 models is 100% accurate, but together they have quite a bit of [economic] utility relative to boundaries and probabilities.

The game is up, cat out of the bag:
NEW YORK -- A day after New York City experienced its worst storm surges in recorded history, Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the city may need to respond to climate change with steps like storm barriers.
100-year floods every two years....
How many deniers are here on ST?
What do they have in common?
Same number of right-wingers, is my guess. It seems like a very common thread.
We're just not too worried about it. Capice?

A perfect mating of two weather/atmospheric conditions.
The Chief, care to look at what caused those weather/atmospheric conditions?
Naw, didn't think so.
Tell me again how science looses when the climate scientists predicted these sorts of conditions. I feel the need to hear some regurgitated BS today.
Hey, Chief, what part of a carrier isn't a result of science?
The Engineers that designed and built it along with the Men and Women that operate all of it's systems.
Right, engineers have no scientific background.
Only Sandy blows harder than our The Chief...

Science & Mankind got their asses handed to em on this one. It LOST!
Chief Running Mouth, I have no idea if this storm was a direct result of too much atmospheric
But that statement is so ridiculous.
The only thing you know how to do these days is open your big fat mouth. But you're too fooking stoopid to realize you do nothing but make a complete ass of yourself every time.

Lets be logical about this for a moment, there seems to be a difference of opinion about climate change.
On one hand I can listen to the overwhelming scientific evidence, propagated by climate scientists.
On the other hand I could listen to the napoleonic mental midget who has known nothing other than military service and drunken bar fights.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...let me think hard about this one...it is perplexing...

The way I'm seeing what the Chief is saying is:
You have a category 1 hurricane.
You have a cold front winter storm conditions
And you have high tide from the full moon.
All coming together at the right moment to create the high storm surge.
So the high tide storm surge from the moon is part of the climate change as most of you are trying to attribute?

Why didn't Obama use his super powers to stop Sandy? The millions sitting in
the dark tonight are feeling its the final evidence that he really hates
America.

CHIEF - our ST Warmist's are a bit worked up tonight about Sandy although it
usually doesn't take much to do it.
Their simplistic primitive reaction to any storm these days is that the
evil human tribe has angered the thermodynamic spirits of the Earth and we
need to make sacrifices to appease their wrath. Stone age superstitions
die hard.

Ed, assuming that one way or the other a sustainable fusion process can be made to happen, how will the energy it produces be transformed into electricity? Any idea what the minimum size/energy output would be? How about problematic byproducts - although presumably there'd be far less radioactives produced than by a fission generator?
