The "Natural Man" was interesting because he was fighting for his rights to do things like forage. Some might call it dumpster diving, but I don't think that the cops should put too much effort into stopping it.

Yeah, he sounded like a nut, but some of these people convey some pretty weird, but interesting, ideas.

Hell, the FBI can crawl through your garbage all that they want without breaking any laws. I think that this is what Natural Man was doing.

It is pretty funny to see a basically homeless guy torture a court room like that though.

The Natural Man was "foraging", which may sound a bit like dumpster diving, in fact he was fishing without a license.

Early on in the video he makes a fleeting reference to the gold fringe on the flag. The gold fringe flag theory is a big sovereign conspiracy on its own

Flags
GOLD FRINGED FLAG

The flags displayed in State courts and courts of the United States have gold or yellow fringes. That is your WARNING that you are entering into a foreign enclave, the same as if you are stepping into a foreign embassy and you will be under the jurisdiction of that flag. The flag with the gold or yellow fringe has no constitution, no laws, and no rules of court, and is not recognized by any nation on the earth, and is foreign to you and the United States of America. more information

MILITARY FLAG WITH THE GOLD FRINGE

Martial Law Flag "Pursuant to 4 U.S.C. chapter 1, §§1, 2, & 3; Executive Order 10834, August 21, 1959; 24 F.R.6865; a military flag is a flag that resembles the regular flag of the United States, except that it has a YELLOW FRINGE border on three sides. The President of the United States designates this deviation from the regular flag, by executive order, and in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the military. The placing of a fringe on the national flag, the dimensions of the flag and the arrangement of the stars in the union are matters of detail not controlled by statute, but are within the discretion of the President as Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy." 34 Ops. Atty. Gen. 83.

President, Dwight David Eisenhower, by Executive Order No.10834, signed on August 21, 1959 and printed in the Federal Register at 24 F.R. 6865, pursuant to law, stated that: "A military flag is a flag that resembles the regular flag of the United States, except that it has a yellow fringe border on three sides."

OK. Thanks Ron.

I was curious. There are so damn many types of militia and patriot groups.

On its face, a "good" militia group could actually be done. If they are well trained, they could be used in natural disasters and the like.

On the other hand, the fragmented nature of the groups leeds to the occasional bad thing. Remember the Arizona Minutemen? They got in to trouble in their attempt to fortify the border.

As to the state of the border:

I used to travel to SW Arizona every New Years for a few weeks and do these 6-10 day hikes across or around Cabeza Prieta NWR. It was one of Ed Abbey's favorite spots, and he is apparently buried there.

For the first few years, back in the early nineties, it was no biggie. You would run into Border Patrol out there now and then, but it was all pretty nice. Then a ranger from Organ Pipe was murdered by a drug smuggle. I showed up that year and the tiny staff of the Refuge in Ajo were all packing pistols. These were mainly biologists.

From that point on it was all out war. Although Cabeza Prieta being one of the last truly lonely and pretty stretch of the Sonoran Desert still standing, nobody went in there anymore. You would get hassled by guys from black helicopters. The Border Patrol was everywhere, and the chopper was constantly tracking people. I never ran into anyone myself, but the tracks and zillion empty plastic water bottles made it look like a garbage dump from above.

There are border checkpoints and a very heavy hand of the Border Patrol there. Despite the big fence, they still get through almost daily.

Since owning guns in Mexico is illegal or something, Edward Abbey suggested that every person that we pick up should be shod, clothed, well fed and treated, and then given a rifle and ammo on the return to Mexico.

Let the Mexicans fix Mexico. They have ruined Cabeza Prieta, which was one of my favorite places in the world.

Our gun rights are under no danger. The NRA has a stranglehold on the Republicans, and they will never allow any gun control. We may see it in certain cities and states. You need several guns to live in Alaska. You do not in Chicago.

I was at the gun store the other day and it took me 30 minutes to do the paperwork. There are so many tiny little concealed carry pistols that it is mindblowing. BITD, a gun shop didn't have that many weapons. Now it is like freaking Wal-Mart.

My observation then is that there is no risk to gun ownership in this country.

One of the main reasons USFS and BLM agents now dress in kevlar vests with side arms, rifles and stacks of magazines is the fact that the feds also let in a very undesirable contention of illegals and the fact that after 911, the control of those armed officers went from a district level to a washington level with new directives and policies which has changed their tactics and responsibility's ..

Seems to me the reason they are wearing kevlar is the presence of heavily armed nutjobs drawing down on them.

LAPD used to ride around with nothing but .38s, then came the North Hollywood shootout, and the NRA's defense of every crook and freak in the country to be armed to the hilt.

now why did this song just come to mind?

I was five and he was six
We rode on horses made of sticks
He wore black and I wore white
He would always win the fight

Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down

Well, which is it, Ron? California sucks for gun owners, or California is where Nevadans go to buy their military style weapons? Ammo is expensive, or ammo is cheap?

Make up your mind, dammit! :-)

Ahh yes more uneeded an ineffectual legislation,, and IRONIC that Conn and Mass are where hundreds of thousands of guns and magazines and ammo are made each year. You just cant get them THERE.. But they will be happy to ship to your door elsewhere...

Where is my new M 1 made? Worcester Mass.

Why are you trusting your protection to liberal guns?

And i DOUBT there are many liberals working at Auto Ordinance, but i can only assume you think everyone in Mass is a liberal.. More erroneous assumptions that make your weak attempt at insults seem riddled with stupidity..

Ron Anderson taking a stand on generalizing people. You heard it here first. Ron and his militia don't allow that kind of thing. They also have a tough time with irony.

Ron posted
My militia is involved in a a neighborhood watch and here in mound house, the crime rate has dwindled as well as the gang tagging- which has now been eradicated.

Note that the crime rate statistics are gathered in the same way as Ron gathers unemployment statistics: walking into a bar on a weekday and yelling "who here got graffitied recently?"

There are many other reasons why i co-formed a small militia here locally.

I don't think it (or Ron) can be so easily categorized.

That said: they ain't my people and I don't have any friends in a militia.

From my experiences selling outdoor gear to those folks: their number one trait is a real distrust of everything related to government, and a big dose of paranoia. They also think they are leaders, but turn out to be followers of some more articulate fellow paranoid.

A good dose of Evangelical Christian-belief/guilt usually helps them to not question their leaders, or their beliefs.

Of course, it is interesting that Ron hasn't brought God into his postings, that I recall. Thus far.

Yes, I'm sure all the rest of you are experts on Ron's neighborhood, as you've clearly studied the statistics. Naturally, by similar logic, you wouldn't have a clue what's going on in yours.

No you're right. Whatever people's perception of a problem or of their impact on that problem matches up with reality every time.
