Hiker YOU obviously don't know Obama. Or perhaps what a socialist or Marxist is. Obama's stated policies are definitely socialistic. And his admiration for and endorsements by socialist AND marxist leaders/groups is well documented, even a cursory google search will prove this out. Please don't waste OUR time by belittling relevant facts.

Note: I see you've edited your post to give you wiggle room. Not gonna work. Obama displays socialist tendencies throughout his policies.

Obama comes off as a condescending snob?

My guess is that you have never watched him.. Once again you appear to get your opinions from the Faux news outlets. That is a big problem with America.

I guess McCain does have a chance considering how many Americans are like Lois.

So.. Are you going to use the doc from Acme?

Bob, I agree that that's one of the biggest concerns, not only for liberals but for all citizens who care about the constitutional checks and balances and separation of church and state. The Supreme Court is sometimes the only gov't institution that keeps this country rooted to it's ideals.

The Republicans have too often shown themselves to be willing to throw out citizens' basic civil liberties (particularly when it comes to privacy) while implementing national security measures that keep our government getting bigger and bigger, all the time. Republicans don't seem to want smaller government at all - they just want to spend less money on social programs at home and dump more money in the pursuit of global adventurism.

You want to cut down bureaucracy, pork barrel spending, and corruption? The best place to start is the military. We need to get out of Iraq sooner rather than later, stop rattling sabers with Russia and every other nation that challenges our God-given authority (why the hell are we all of the sudden putting a "missile defense shield" in Poland??), and we should once and for all axe all "civilian contracting" that makes companies like Blackwater such worldwide menaces.

Hmm, I wonder if Blackwater gets to do some "humanitarian relief" in Georgia. I'm sure it will get a juicy contract again with the Hurricane Gustav sensationalism.

Congress picks the members of SCOTUS.

You people keep picking over the same pile ad nauseam.

How many people post as a woman, is a man, that is a non-climber, posting on a climbing site??

Not many around like our Lois.

McCain got a one per-cent bump out of his pick and picked up the far-right republicans (big surprise)...the more we find out about her the novelty will wear thin and then off.

Biden will hand her ass in a debate. The same goes for Obama...I hope he can bring out the temper of Johnny while looking young and vibrant while while McCain looks old and worn out...remember Nixon and Kennedy??

Why not just go ahead and nominate the soccer mom or dad next door?

They're just as qualified.

Shoot, ANYONE can be Prez, right?

I think McCain just lost the election with this pick. Safety and security are supposed to be big issues for Repubs. So he picks someone with zero national security experience and zero experience clobbering tarrists. The guy who hammered Obama for not being ready for the job just picked someone even less qualified. LOL!!! She even said a year ago she doesn't have many thoughts about Iraq.

Biden will eat her up in the debates.

Lois: most of you're characterizations about voters in your posts above are very generalized, and I don't think they are very accurate.

Perception matters only in figuring out who will win. I make my arguments, not because I think Obama will win, but because I hope to convince people to pay closer attention to abilities and the facts that often don't line up with what people are saying, such as the fact that the republicans over the last 30 years have increased the size of government and the size of the national debt more then the dems have, yet claim to be the fiscally responsible party and the party for smaller government. Things you claim to care about.

Your instincts/gut feelings are guided by your ego Lois. Until you understand the danger of this, you will not understand where I am coming from.

I don't consider Obama to be all that great, but I consider McCain to be an absolutely dangerous leader.

Lois, that's apparently what you and others find so appealing, she's just a regular gal.

20 months experience as gov., dealing with issues of local concern. Not very impressive.

Yeah sure.

I met Biden about 20 years ago too. Had a small group discussion with him.

Palin is no Biden.

Honestly Fatty...You know deep down (but I don't expect you to admit it) that there are many other candidates who are better both politically and for assuming the job, should McCain win and not be able to serve.

Woody.. Congress picks the members of SCOTUS.

No they approve the pick. Like I said before...thanks the American people that the congress will be a democrat majority.

I don't want this lady anywhere near the position of president of the US.

Funny thing Lois...

You keep going gaga over right-wing, Bible thumping candidates, e.g. Huckabee and Palin, who share few positions with you on many issues yet come across as folksy.

Fatty, Palin has no national experience and no time on the national stage. Spin aside (and I know spin is your job), you know their resumes are not comparable.

And even assuming for the sake of argument that Obama does = Palin, then why did McCain nominate her? McCain has been hounding O about his experience and readiness, but what does it say about his judgment that he went and picked someone with scant experience to step in as President?

Fatty, If winning is all that you care about, and that appears to be the only thing Americans care about, then your understanding of the bottom line is correct.

I guess we will continue to see where that takes us. More war, more debt, less peace, more imbalance between the haves and the have nots. Yippie.

Not if discernment is a part of qualification.

It certainly is a qualification or lack thereof if ones discernment is totally lacking or is off base.

Fine, then my opinion is that Obama has way more and better qualifications then Palin, and much better qualifications then McCain. More Time in service is does not necessarily mean better qualified.

Skipt... Let's be fair,

The most qualified person between all four of them is John McCain.

Hands down.

Skip

Wow...after putting his nose up the neo-con's ass for the last five years and picking a VP he met two times and to pander to far right...I don't think so. When was the last time Obama or Biden try to choke someone?

McCain is for the war in Iraq. This show a complete lack of understanding of the dangers of the middle east.

McCain is for torture. This shows a complete lack of understanding that we reap what we sow and the that the ends do not justify the means.

McCain could care less if I get medical help. This shows a heartlessness.

He ranted about Obama's lack of experience, then picked a VP with less. Too funny.

"Time in service means by definition better qualified."

I know plenty of people who hold jobs they shouldn't. Just look at the problems in our teaching system where teachers aren't fired when they should be. They end up with loads of time in service, yet are thoroughly lacking in good qualifications.
