Well Bobby,
I am waiting for that day that you will be walking up the sidewalk and popping your head in to say "Hi". The flowers and plantings are coming around nicely. The sprinkler system has been installed and the grass is next on the list. The lot looks incredible. We made the front page of the Enterprise again. Mike had to go before Park Co. Planning & Zoning for the approval of the building. The article was nice. They commended the efforts of the Collier Group and said the "bar has been risen". This will sure improve the neighborhood.
I spoke to Jim today and conveyed my thoughts and prayers to him and all of the family, but most of all you. I told him how all of us here are pulling for you and thinking of you and your family every day, we are hoping to pop in here to this forum and see that you are smiling at your Mom and Faith, eyes bright with life and all is well.
It sounds like you could be getting another plane ride soon. Just wish you would be sitting up looking out the windows. I remain believing in my heart that you will come through this and begin to spin a web of adventure once again.
Tonight, as I read through the newest input here, I think of you and say a prayer for you and your family. Get well and come back to all of these people with such fond memories of you and begin to make new memories with each one of them. You are special to so many.
Sincerely,
Janet

Bobby: It's a beautiful sunny morning here in Laramie--one of those perfect cool days that we dream about all winter here. Just wanted to let you know that we're looking forward to having you back here in the States where it won't be quite so hard to drop by to visit you. Great news that you are already strong enough to make the trip. Before you know it you'll be conciously figuring out how to avoid having to climb Vedauwoo wide cracks. As you know, we're all following your progress every day from this side of the pond. Ken.

Hey Bobby,
It is great to hear that you will be flying back to the states very soon and that your condition is good enough to make this happen. It was quite a shock to hear your dads voice on the phone yesterday and he souned as if he were in Cody and then he put Joe Max on as well and he gave me the run down. I do hope Faith's friend does drag him up Table mountain so he can see the fantastic view of Cape Town and the surrounding area.
I look forward to seeing back out here in the Rocky Mountains. Keep up the Good Fight.
All Good Things,
Rob Hart

I haven't checked updates for a week or so, so it's been with a mix of enormous sadness and great happiness that I've spent the past half hour catching up. Steve, Amy, Scott, and wow - Nick Rohrbach and the Norwegian Olympics! - it's been old home week. Bobby, know that the Long and Larson Families are in your corner as much as we can be. Erik knew of you from his days in Laramie and at Vedauwoo and always greatly admired your prowess on that gnarly granite.
I didn't know you as well as Lilygren and the other guys who worked at Wild Iris, but when you were around you always seemed to wear a goofy, wide grin and have time for a story. Inexplicably, the day of your accident I pulled out my copy of the National Geographic covering the Nameless Tower climb and thumbed through the images, lingering over the gorgeous shot of you on the snowy ledge with the tents. The next day my mom phoned to tell me what had happened.
As evidenced by this blog, you have touched and improved many lives. We continue to focus all our thoughts on your complete recovery and will look for updates as you head back to the States.
Our Best Regards,
Alicia (Long) & Erik Larson

Hey Bob-Meister,
Well, time flies when you're waiting for your bud to wake up because, lo and behold, it has happened again and I've just wasted another perfectly good week. All that to say: thank heavens it's Friday (again)! So, week-end is now upon us, and some of us are going to go out and PLAY! This week-end I'm biking again, and I'm going to try and increase the mileage (Why, oh why did I choose triathlons? crochet sounds so much more civilized...).
The news from your side of the pond sounds positive, and though we are a little hazy on the details, we are desperately waiting for you to make your way back to us. Med-evac? how very glam, I hope whoever goes with you will take notes and let us know how you react to VIP treatment. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter if they row you across, you cannot come back fast enough.
Hey, a propos of nothing, the new iPhone came out today. Now I know you're a mac-man because you showed me a couple of things one can do with an iPod that are better done in Nairobi than back in the States (though not strictly speaking illegal, of course ...) and which are very cool. Well the phone looks very slick, but funniest of all is the fact that people have been queuing for days (I kid you not) to be amongst the first to get one. You, on the other hand, appear to have chosen to wait a while, till Apple works out the (unavoidable, even for Apple) bugs, the prices go down, etc. In any event, you probably already have a Thuraya, which is WAY cooler, and for which apparently you don't have to wait in line. Either way, you're a clever little bugger ....
OK, bud, here's wishing you and everyone who is with you a good week-end, and, hopefully, soon a good trip. And bud, remember we are waiting for you, so make your way back to us, whenever you're ready.
Hug everyone for me,
Charlotte

Dear Bob, Anne and family,
We've been following this forum since hearing the news. What a powerful tool this is, bringing people together from all over the world with a single purpose, to offer hope and strength to you all, and especially to Bobby for his recovery.
We don't know him personally, although we feel like we do after reading the messages from all those who are fortunate enough to have shared experiences with him. He's obviously loved by many. We just wanted you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sincerely,

Hey Bobby,
I’m just remembering a flight you took us on from Lamu to Nairobi last year. It was your first time flying a plane and after a few minutes of in-flight instruction you were handling the little plane with complete dexterity. Mid flight you even took a few one handed photos. And back on the ground you decided that when you had the time you’d really like to get your pilot license. That was a gorgeous flight and with the help of some good music on the ipod, a smooth ride, and the Kenyan landscape gliding below I was cured of a stubborn fear of flying in small planes (thank you). I hope your upcoming (possibly even current) flight is as comfortable. Looking forward to having you and your family closer to home.
Love to All -

Bobby and family,
This will be one of the few Cody July 4th celebrations that we will be missing. The kids are quite upset, but we'll make it out later in the summer. The reason will actually hit home with you more than any of us could have realized a month ago. We are building a new children's rehabilitation unit where I work. We already offer a number of services for children that have special health care needs. However, the hospitals in the area told us that they really needed a place to send children who aren't ready to go home yet but don't need hospital care either. We will be one of six facilities in the U.S. to offer these services. We are opening in July, and already have children on the waiting list!
I have never really worked much with head injuries and ventilators, but it sounds like that will be a large portion of the children that will be referred to us. Since I am the educator for our organization I have spent time at a similar facility in Toronto, taken more classes concerning the neuro system and head injuries, and done research to present to our nurses. It hit me pretty hard when I heard about your injury. I almost wished I didn't know as much as I do. On the other hand, I also know that there are more resources available than one would think! I have also met some incredible people who have gone through similar circumstances and are great role models for all of us now.
I know that one day I will be asking you to come out and talk with some of our children to help motivate them! Through this incident you have already pulled together a number of friends who haven't seen each other in years. You have returned Cody to the good old small town that sticks up for it's own, and I am sure that God has even greater plans to turn this tragedy into good. Meanwhile, know that we are all there with you in spirit, and excited that you may be coming closer to home soon.
Let me know if there is anything I can do for all of you!
Cheryl

Hey Bob-Meister,
I just talked to Peg and Steve, who didn't yet know what had happened. Peg is a bit shaken up, as you can imagine, and of course very concerned for Faith and your Mum, so you're going to have to hug them extra special, OK? They're both really relieved you'll be back soon and send all their love. So, there you go, bud, two more very special people rooting for you.
I thought a lot about you today, I went on this amazing bike ride in a place called Poolesville, in Maryland, which is basically in the middle of horse country. The ride was very hilly and crossed huge fields of corn and sunflower, all breathtakingly beautiful. When I saw something particularly stunning I thought of you and tried to take a snapshot in my mind. I even worked on the composition, you would have been mighty impressed. And then when I hit the really big hills, all I thought about was when they were going to end, and swore myself to never, ever, ever have a fag while I sip a Tusker on the porch of your little house in Karen. Or at least, not for a few months anyway ...
OK, bud, that's the news for today. Keep on fighting the fight for us, and we'll keep rooting for you. We're waiting for you, and we're ready for you whenever you are.
Hug everyone for me,
Charlotte

hey there... to Cheryl Bragonier-Vukelich, who just posted here... i have a non-profit book, that deals with head injury and overcoming, by love of family and relationship--this is how i came to learn so much, even as you have---if you EVER need or want to use this book, or its pre-stories, for anything---it is for complete non-profit.... please let me know...
i wish it was already well established, so that the funds could help bobby's family---but it is just "being birthed" so to speak... i have dreams that the funds will one day, help kids, families and help families learn to have patience and time for loved one that face new-lives from such tragic wounds....
keep up the good work for kids... if you need to know more, please email me, if i can help in some way, this is all for free, once it can be figured out how to do it but--put ATTEN: FROM Cheryl Bragonier-Vukelich, FOR KIDS HOMES... as i do not open unknown email, and could pass you by [neebee1shaaboo1@yahoo.com]...
love and god bless to all, and more victory prayers to you bobby, and your family... REMEMBER:
bobby: you are like a plant... you may have been smashed a bit to the earth, but a tenatious root system, warmed by god's sun, and fed by his watering streams, can one day become so very strong, that it will even PUSH ASIDE the rocks around it, that try to wall it in, and like-wise, the rocks that are too solid and deep for it to be pushed aside, will THEN, be encompassed by said-plant and embelished into its beauty, for all to see---why, lo and behold, SUCH FRUIT WILL COME, that one would never known that there was a "rock-of-adversity" in its midst, except by exploring, and hear-say, from those that knew before-hand, during the hardship.... grow, dear plant, grow and prosper, in the lord-god's futile soil...
god bless, from neebee, spouting-off the flourishing-plant, way, you see...you don't know me... but i accidently stumbled across you'all, you see....

Hi Bobby,
Well the 4th is upon us and we will miss seeing you hangin out at the Dollar with the rest of the die hards. We will be holdin you to next year though.
Kirt, Monty, and Todd are about to venture out on a 4 day hike. They are leaving on the 8th and will be back on the 11th or 12th. They are hiking up in the Beartooth's. It should be a good time for them. A time to reminisce and think about old times. I can't wait to hear that you are back out there enjoying what this wondrous world has to offer.
Cheryl, we will miss you and Milo this 4th. It seems that this is the only time that we really get to see you and talk for a while. We will miss enjoying the sparks in the sky with you at the Madsen's. You know that is where the Cozzens clan will be spending the evening. The boys will miss playing with the kids too.
Well Bobby, Keep fighting and we will keep praying. You come back here and give your take on this situation. I know that you are going to chalk it all up to just relaxing and taking a break. Whenever you decide to wake up and come back, we will all be here.
Sincerely,
Janet
