Hey everyone-What a complete blast!!! I had a great time!!!!! It turns out getting there early in the morning translates to 2pm. As I was walking out of my parents house (up visiting them), my mom was saying "don't you realize it's 11 o'clock?" yes, yes I do, "Mom don't stress me out, I know, I know", and I hear mom saying as I'm walking out "and I don't want you to get on that Horn's Mother, that just looks too scary and dangerous...." So as I first arrived at camp, which was in a completely beautiful spot, and a place I had not been to yet at Vedauwoo, who should I run into but Locker & Blitzo! Now I hadn't met Locker yet, but did know Blitzo, so this seemed like the perfect duo to hang out with. They said let's go sport climb, and so I decided that I was in for this plan. Locker, it was great to meet you, you are a cool dude, and I would climb with you and Blitzo anytime! So yes, day 1 at Vedauwoo, I went sport climbing-it was very fun.
Then, back at camp, awesome people, and Nature's sweet sushi set-up. The whole deal is quite impressive, and like Eeyonkee says, you may want to just go ahead and follow the Sushi-fest around from location to location. I have been to a few fests in AZ, but wow, Nature really out-did himself-starting on Friday with a 6 hr sushi run, then on Saturday, I think it was 8 hrs of Sushi!!! Some highlights for me-The seared Ahi Tuna-it was blood red in the center, and just melted like butter! The seared yellowtail, out of this world! And the soft shell crab-amazing! All of this, and surviving several hurricane blasts with torrential rains. I was glad I had this chance to represent for the AZ crew :-)
So we went climbing on day two, this time some trad climbing. We all had fun giving Spectraman a go-Mike Friedrichs cruised it on lead. I was happy to get up it-pretty hard beginning-even just stepping up onto the thing (Jane & I were very glad we didn't epic right off the ground). So Locker, I didn't try Horn's Mother yet, I will have to be called out on that sh#t talking at a later date ;-) I then went to another climb with SteveW. It was awesome to climb with you Steve, as you remember, we were (are) never lost, just confused! We found a huge cave that was useful during several of the rain sessions. Once we found our climb, Steve cruised up on lead, then had to rap down in hail, rain, and ominous thunder. So at that time we made the always wise decision to go drink beer. We were unsure how the rest of the crew fared, but they did eventually appear after the hurricane and luckily had a near miss of a potential epic. So all was well to continue on our Sushi feasting (feeding ;-) !)
It was really cool to see everyone from Lucille fest-including Greg-who after a year out is easing back into things on... 5.11!!!! wow. Glad to see your healed up, I'm sure it felt great to be back on the rock. Em-wish you could have made it, but I hope that you heal quickly!
Jaybro, Ed, and Roy, I'm hoping Valley Massif was fantastic today-I like that place. Locker, had you gone there with them today, you may have ended up seeing a beaver ;-) !!!
ps. aplomb line would be a great name for a climb, good one, Philo.
I'm thrilled that the timing worked out and I got to be there, hang out with everyone, and meet new amazing people! Fantastic Sushi, climbing, people, conversation, and a beautiful meteor shower shared via long distance late at night.

Hey it was great to meet Steve, Locker and others that I hadn't met before. It was fun to hang out with Blitzo, Roy, all the other "greenies." As always, a joy to spend time with Jay and Ed. You're brothers to me. Catherine you're awesome and add so much to the group. Dingus Magee, keep reeling 'em in. And Nature you deserve a special thanks for bringing this crazy group together and working so hard every night. Thanks so much.
This was my third sushifest and the first one above freezing. Weird that we had to go to Wyoming to have that. Really a great weekend with a creative, fun group. Hope we all meet again soon.

Sounds like you all had a blast...wish I didn't have to bail but the Winds were a kick in the ass too. The Boulder contingent noted that the driving times to Big Sandy Opening and Indian Creek were the same.
Nature....looks like the Easy Up came in handy!

"local guy" = Joe Cupps, btw high school schoolmate of mike Frierichs.
He, myself, mike, Todd skinner, & mark Jenkins all graduated from U of Wyo, the same year '82. though Joe might of been a slightly different year. Paul Piana was in school there there then as well....

Nice pictures all! This was some good times, for sure. I'm thinking we have Ed's pictures yet to come. Speaking of Ed, he gets my vote for climbing performance of the fest, with his top-rope of Spectreman (followed closely by Gal's). Of course, the only reason that Mike Friedrichs isn't in the running is we (I) expect this kind of performance from him. I mean really, for Mike to be in the running, he would have to wear skates or something.

I didn't make that many images... video yes... but that is for another project...
I'm still on old guy climber time (bed after dark, up at dawn) so I'm about out of gas for tonight...
tomorrow I'll post images that I have....
Spectreman was a surprise for me too, happy that I gave it a second attempt... not used to warming up on 5.11...
