For feralfae, a rare jewel with a message for you. Guess who? He's talkin' to you. He's talkin'. He's leavin'. Bye. He'll likely be back as something else. What? He wants fruitcake left out for the birds. Can you, please?
Thank you. Doug was a wildlife biologist once upon a time, studying owls and raptors. The night he escaped, a Great Horned Owl came and perched on the deck railing, and tried to come in a closed window (it was February). Other owls have since come fairly routinely and sit out in the trees, calling until I come outside. I also have the resident Raven. :) And hummingbirds in the summer.
Most winter mornings, I put out suet in the suet post, sunflower seeds, other seeds, and sometimes toast crusts. Before I close the door, there are Pygmy and White- and Red-breasted nuthatches, hairy and downy woodpeckers, house finches, chickadees, flickers, and the occasional Stellars Jay at the feeders. There are two Townsend's Solitaires wintering here in the apple trees. Sometimes I put out apple slices or berries for the Solitaires. But I am cakeless, alas!
The spirit I love left that old embodiment which had the body label of Doug. I was there when spirit left. So I know. Doug's last words, smiling as he looked up at the ceiling, were, "Oh, Wow!" I sent him with my love out to play in the stars. I think he is already back, so I am at peace. :) I have birds to keep fed, and rabbits to keep in chopped carrots, and deer who expect fresh fruits and veggies a few times each week. And play, and the fun of coming here to TOPO and checking on things during these days of not much work to do.
Mouse, sir, thank you for all your scenic and cozy images. I am glad you are enjoying neebee's wonderful surprise box, and so happy it finally made it.
I liked the elf note you wrote for Strider. Nice one.
Thank you for the bird photos. :) I am also enjoying the BIRDS thread.
Happy New Year!

Blues Incorporated were a British R&B band in the early 1960s, led by Alexis Korner and featuring at various times Jack Bruce, Charlie Watts, Terry Cox, Ginger Baker, Long John Baldry, Ronnie Jones, Danny Thompson, Graham Bond, Cyril Davies, Malcolm Cecil and Dick Heckstall-Smith.--Da Wiki

Ever try to sleep with mice runnin' round?
The gray mouse flew only five feet.
The white mouse flew over eight feet.
The black mouse flew at least ten feet, unofficially.

hey there say, feralfae...
as to this:
The spirit I love left that old embodiment which had the body label of Doug. I was there when spirit left. So I know. Doug's last words, smiling as he looked up at the ceiling, were, "Oh, Wow!" I sent him with my love out to play in the stars. i am cherishing this in my heart:
i can see you with all the critters, now...
i am going to try to go treat mine, now... the overbearing old crows, seem to show up and take it all away, :(
but i shall not give up! having been mustered by your cheery work!
oh my, mouse... i missed the neat pics loading, but the ones from the other day are showing faster, so, ?my computer memory, cookies? or something, MUST have made the first ones, easy-access? ...
will let this sit, while i take care of some chores (almost type choss, oh my) ;)) and see what shows up, here, then, as to neat pics!
:)

The "freeway" through Merced runs parallel to the numbered streets, then the "highway" takes an abrupt southerly turn below Yosemite Parkway and runs pretty straight for many miles.
The orange line follows the direction of the streets and freeway; the yellow, the direction of the highway beginning at the parkway, more than less, I think. NO compass, no heading, just dead reckoning will place those peaks in Sequoia National Park/Monarch Wilderness.

Well, I never met a termite that I did not loath ... until now ...
Termites can eat up days and days of your time, even if your time is not cellulose, I've discovered. Ah for the good old days when the only care was whether the Partisan was going to be open on New Year's Eve.
Sixteen minutes is a long time in the modern world, but give the first 1:45 a look if you're so inclined.

Each of us lives in his own Adventureland.
Bruce Willis, the headman of the yipee ki-yays, shops here for roach clips--
Yippie Hippie Shop
http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Yippie-Hippie-Shop/149379668433903
just a half a meter off the sidewalk and around the back of that redwood tree.
I wakened for a bodliy function but remembered the gifts--I had fallen asleep like a sack of seaweed, just lay inert for three hours, a standard length of time to sleep if you are my age, and now can't return there. It's not insomnia. It's just something to do till I fall back into slumber.
Jaybro's eighth day present is a locking 'biner, a harness, a 200m rope, and a cheap card.
How can I thank you?
Oh--dreaming. Sleepier than I thought.
Okay, this is the package. It made it here, but was hanging on by the skin of its wrapping paper to being a "secret." I could see the box, but not its contents, a wooden puzzle, the object of which is to confuse the assembler. The set came in a wood box and these were accompanied by the framed tile with the Japanese character for tranquility painted on it and fired.
An old olive oil container--a decorative item, for sure, since the cork is permanently em-placed--is also included at the nominal price of no charge.
And again, I'm not worthy, guys. Thanks.

Yipee for the gang who got it together!
The more that neebee fills me in, the better this gift box becomes.
I won't embarrass the lot of you, fear not.
My aim this year, not a resolve, is to be nice, not snide.
To be uplifting, not posting and saying how I hate the subject, how disgusting something is, how ignorant, stupid or lame someone acted, and to post decent photos of people as subjects and to limit the rest to good stuff, level and focused.
(But the Raiders still suck and always will.)
I'm getting to where I'm nearly as good as some others here in my photography, and quantity is not what is called for when the audience is genuinely above average in intelligence, taste, and judgement.
I've gotten over my awe of the "names" here, for they are basically no different than I, simply better at their games than I or my old pals, the Flames.
This is absolutely fine and the way it should be. It's like an adoption into a loving family. You need it, they are willing to share it.
So, brevity being the best thing in a writer's or poet's bag of tricks, let me say nothing more, except that I wish and pray and hope and say
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Burn it up! Burn it down!
It won't matter to zBrown or Jaybro or Barbarian, et al.

Is it 2014 yet?
Is Big Brother's daughter in charge now?
Will they see ALL the warts, or will Max Factor step in to save the day?
Is Leinengen behind this ANT caper?
Will the remake of "Same Time Next Year", tentatively titled "Same Time This Year," be allowed to proceed unmolested?
Will Chris Diamontopoulos return as "Moe" in the Three Stooges sequel to "Termites of 1938," working title of "Roaches of 2015." Or will I get the job?
It's your movie...make your movie...I'm the only one here...

Camouflageed, that hoss. It's French. They're Californian and there's no camoo-floggin' allowed here.
And there is an on-going fight to keep tat off the streets, out of the way, and off the climbing routes so people will maybe come back to visit the hellhole of Yosemite Valley once more.

I'm saving that perplexer for the second rainy day. The first rain day I will be out on the roof of the building naked and dancing.
I still like you, Jaybro. Turn the page and the other cheek.
Was that not nice? I blame the mice!

I last talked to Gene on the phone just a couple days back. Sorry for the disconnection. My bill wasn't paid, I thorta thought it had've been, it slipped my mind, I dint answer the messages...[a dozen excuses later]...and on the basis of this decided I'm a bird-brained Brian.
