Brian, leave some for me. I'll be there soon to show Uehli how it's done,
and he'll need some, too, to drown his sorrows.
Had a Mammoth Brewing Co stout. It was stout! Now I will make my famous crème brûlée.

Geez, the boys in the West are ahead of me tonight!
Had a glass of my dad's Central Valley Winery Mystery Merlot, it comes from Italy, that's all it says on the bottle. It is the Canadian equivalent to Two Buck Chuck - about six dollars I think at some wine store in the east end of town.
Anita and I went wine tasting in Niagara last weekend - I guess we were too drunk to post on the Friday night post! Anyway, we tried a bunch of reds, and even this cheapy Mystery Merlot is better than pretty much any of the red wines in Niagara.
What we did end up buying was some Cabernet Franc Icewine from Jackson-Triggs - pricey but delicious, like drinking a bowl of strawberries. Icewines are the only wines we do at world class level in Canada, despite all the awards they bestow upon themselves. All of the Niagara reds are dry enough to curl your tongue, although there are some OK cold weather varietals like Riesling and Gewurtztraminer. Try spelling that three times while drunk.
Switching to Hardy V.S.O.P. Cognac, a Christmas gift from Anita's dad. There ain't no one nicers than them there Leissers!

Joey F, great track but the album don't make it as a whole, IMO. As close as I'm getting to an insult tonight cuz I'm pretty mellow behind two blondes from Fresno and one from someplace up north. Went to the local and talked to the lovely "Miller" working the tap, another blonde. Springtime demands lighter beers--the Pilsner sisters made me feel cool and the one from up north got me reeling and rocking for a while, but I made it back home on the bike safe and sound. Now I'm gonna get HIGH and forget about climbing and why I ain't doin' it.

Lessee....
Two margaritas each, and Anita's getting feisty. Throw in a glass of Baby Amarone for me. I have no idea what it is but it tasted good!
And we're actually going climbing tomorrow. Gonna teach Anita how to clean an aid traverse.
Should I backclean? ? ;)

FILL the cup from some secretest fountain,
Under granite ledges, deep and low,
Where the crystal vintage of the mountain,
Runs in foam from dazzling fields of snow.
Some lost stream, that in a woodland hollow
Coils, to sleep its weariness away,
Shut from prying stars, that fain would follow,
In the emerald glooms of hemlock spray.
Fill, dear friend, a goblet cool and sparkling
As the sunlight of October morns,—
Not for us the crimson wave, that darkling
Stains the lips of olden drinking-horns!
“We will quaff, beneath the noontide glowing,
Draughts of nectar, sweet as faery dew;
Couched on ferny banks, where light airs blowing,
Shake the leaves between us and the blue.
We will pledge in breathless, long libation,
All we have been, or have sworn to be, —
Fame, and Joy, and Love’s dear adoration, —
Summer’s lusty bacchanals are we!
Round the white roots of the fragrant lily,
And the mossy hazels, purple-stained,
Once the music of these waters chilly
Gave return for all the sweetness drained.
How that rare, delicious, woodland flavor
Mocked my palate in the fever hours,
When I pined for springs of coolest savor,
As the burning Earth for thunder-showers!
In the wave, which through my maddened dreaming
Flowed to cheat me, fill the cups again!
Drink, dear friend, to life which is not seeming, —
Fresh as this to manhood’s heart and brain!
Fill, fill high! and while our goblets, ringing,
Shine with vintage of the mountain-snow,
Youth shall bid his Fountain, blithely springing,
Brim our souls to endless overflow!
