Hillary is pretty much a republican of 20+ years ago at this point anyway. It won't be too hard to work with her to get some of their agenda done.
Um, no. She has moved farther to the left than she was 20 years ago, except in foreign affairs. Republicans don't believe that "businesses don't create jobs," or that the criterion for a SCOTUS nominee is support for overruling Citizens United, for example.
The SCOTUS issue poses the biggest dilemma for Republicans. So many of the justices are advanced in age, and all we need is one more Ginsberg, who believes the Constitution means what she says it means, and the First and Second Amendments, and the takings clause of the Fifth and Fourteenth, are history. The long-term disaster that the SCOTUS change portends should terrify any Republican. Too bad Trump made it inevitable.

nita: I'd be delighted to accept a truce. I would, however, remind you that I've been the unprovoked target of this abuse, which people like nah000 can't seem to get through his head. Furthermore, on more than one occasion I have offered to keep my distance from James Brennan, so the ball is firmly in his court.
My conscience is clear.
I'd much rather focus my fury on Trump.

Perhaps you missed my angle, John.
From my perspective:
the right has gone so extreme right that it's pulled the left closer to center or closer to where the right was 20 years ago. I wasn't saying she's more right. And given what Mr. Sanders has brought to the table she's certainly being pulled towards being a progressive (she's not).
But on some issues i think she can be seen to have the ability to work with establishment republicans (not the teabaggers) on some issues. That makes conceding the battle to her a pill that isn't impossible to swallow.
Now your point on the SCOTUS is spot-on. But that's their problem - the right created the vacuum for Drumpf to fill and now they have to live with it. I've got no sympathy, however.
And I mean haha... either blow up the party because of Drumpf or cripple it with SCOTUS justices that are not regressive. Fun times these watching the GOP self destruct.
Funny thing is I now look at Romney and think - I kinda like this guy. A Clownstick will do that I suppose.

Romney, McCain, even W look great now compared to Trump and Cruz.
They will get Hillary elected dispite all her baggage and utter hate the right has for her.

Stewart...
i'm going to engage you directly for only the second and what will in all likelihood, based on your history here, be the final time...
in case you're interested in making a more generally positive contribution to this board, here are a couple quick unsolicited tips:
1. you can't control what other people think or do. if you don't like what someone thinks or does and you've attempted to communicate your point of view and they are still being in your eyes a dick/ignorant/abusive/toxic/mentally challenged it's time to stop engaging with them.
2. because of your incredibly toxic, vitriolic, and unnecessarily vicious style of interaction you turn off even the people, or at least a person like me, who often agrees with your denotative meaning.
hence my use of that ole chestnut of a gif...
and right on track and on time you haven't failed to disappoint my expectation even though i wish you would...
best of luck and a dmt styled cheers to ya, from someone who often agrees with what you are saying at the same time that i find your style of saying it, verging on the disturbed.

Reading that Sarah Palin excerpt on last page I was thinking "You know, this one sounds like she could have been at Camp Malheur." And then the link to Trumps person who was involved with the Bondy thing comes a few minutes later...
Tnfoil Hat time - Trump has eyes on getting the west's public lands sold out from under the government's stewardship so he can speculate and fill vast tracts with Trump Resorts of the Dude Ranch type. Hey, if Obama can do Executive Orders, why cant' he use them to get those lands out from under Federal control?
I have the feeling this campaign is going to be drama right up to and maybe even past the day of election.

nah000: While I tend to agree with the spirit of your message, I don't respond well to vicious and unprovoked personal attacks that are transparent lies from people who claim to share your outlook, particularly when they ignore factual information that I have offered in reply.
I am also strongly of the opinion that this topic is not, as I have earlier stated, the equivalent of a dinner party where we are disagreeing about some completely harmless topic such as climbing ethics.
I deeply believe that good manners has never slowed the march of evil. The historical record is clear that when nations are ruled by jingoistic xenophobes, innocent people tend to suffer and die as a result, and my conscience will not permit me play nice with people who support these politicians.

Ah, the memories. Happie-G you made me recall the 2000 election with the Florida ballot BS. After the Tuesday vote and no decision my wife (ex) and I went up to Vancouver for a weekend away. Coming back through the US border I asked the guard who the new president was - it still wasn't decided!!!
The 'debate' is coming up in 10 minutes; I hope I can struggle through it this time. It might actually be interesting or, more probably, entertaining. Mr. Roboto might just be fun to watch.

I'm getting ready to sign off for the night, but just went to the Twitter feed for following the debate. Sounds like it's off to the absurd start as usual:
"We really just listened to Donald Drumpf try to assure the US on the size of his manhood. #GOPDebate #ugh
Please - someone post video if they have it, because I can't imagine the dick size comment is going to make it onto NPR for tomorrow morning's news.

For anyone who is interested in voting for donald,
do you want to ban muslims?
if so, can we ban catholics too? i for one, am sick and tired of having these priests rape our children and hide it.
do you agree that all illegal mexicans are rapists and murderers?
is there anything beyond a 5 second sound bite that you have to justify the support of a hitler like personality?
edit:
are americans really this stupid?
google trump videos bankrupt projects. he sold people on failed things the same way he is doing it now.

I just got done with suffering through the Faux Republican presidential debate.
1. It appears that Trump had resolved to be polite to Faux anchor Megyn Kelly, who apparently had been sharpening her verbal knives since the last Faux debate, when Trump worked her bigtime.
Megyn, disguised as a blond Nordic godess, had her revenge: Megyn Kelly Destroys Donald Trump With His Own Words At Fox News Debate http://www.politicususa.com/2016/03/03/megyn-kelly-destroys-donald-trump-words-fox-news-debate.html
2. Other than that, it was a clusterfuk, with the theme being: "dog-pile on Trump."
It will be interesting to see if Trump support is positively, or negatively affected by the clusterfuk.
