I have no intention of sinking to that level. I actuallyfeel pretty every time I have written Trump's name as "Drumpf." How about - I will stop doing that, and maybe others will reconsider when they are about to disparage Hillary Clinton as a woman.

"Americanizing" one's surname is as old as America itself. It's part of the "unum" in the "e pluribis unum".
My own family started off in America as Von "Chaz", but that was changed to Van "Chaz" about a hundred years ago, because the Germans weren't real popular around here then. And shortly thereafter dropped the "Van" altogether.

"We the undersigned..." Were perfectly content for Trump to lead the Birther charge.
It's absolutely fascinating to see the Repub establishment trying to tell voters what is supposedly in their best interests. The party that has done NOTHING for the past 4 years. Funny how you don't hear much about the Tea Party anymore.
Time for Trump to walk away from the Repub party.
How nice to have a breather from the trash Obama for a change.

why make Hillary pay for his behavior?
She is running for prez, in the public eye. Insults come with the territory. And the comedy narrative is the marriage is a loveless sham.
Comedians make fun of the Donald and his re-upping of wives, as they should. Imagine a young woman having to sleep with him, shudder...
Yes these comments do create a toxic atmosphere, but you can either choose to be offended by tasteless disparaging comments, or you can do what I do and really see that as a reflection of the person making the comment, not the taget of the comment. It identifies them as boorish. Let them own that.

Slow eye roll. Do you think all 9/11 victims think Bush deserves insults?

And mine was Marceaux BITD. But "Drumpf" is not making some irrelevant jab at his family being immigrants, but a jab at his having a drab name that doesn't match his "brand." It's like calling Bush "Shrub." Not really a quality thing to do. So, I am hoping I will keep my promise to not refer to Trump in that way in the future.
Meanwhile - I am wondering how he will be responding to the block of GOP's who say they won't back him. The media hasn't been pressing the issue so far, strangely. I expect it is going to be brought up during the debate tonight.

I'm witchu Happie; there is a misogynistic component to some comments that makes me cringe. Unfortunately, it's the interwebs where anonymity seems to relax some peoples sense of decency.
Meanwhile, the Repubs are really attacking Trump; first Romney, then McCain, and now a letter from former Republican administration security types. An excerpt from the NY Times:
“His advocacy for aggressively waging trade wars is a recipe for economic disaster in a globally connected world,” it argues. “His embrace of the expansive use of torture is inexcusable.” It refers to his “hateful, anti-Muslim rhetoric,” which they argue will alienate “partners in the Islamic world making significant contributions to the effort,” while endangering “the safety and constitutionally guaranteed freedoms of American Muslims.”
His insistence that Mexico will pay for a wall between the two countries “rests on an utter misreading of, and contempt for, our southern neighbor.” And his argument that Japan should pay far more for the basing of American troops there — it already foots much of the bill — “is the sentiment of a racketeer, not the leader of the alliances that have served us so well since World War II.”
But perhaps most interesting is the attack on Mr. Trump’s greatest claim to a qualification for the presidency: his business experience.
“His equation of business acumen with foreign policy experience is false,” the letter says. “Not all lethal conflicts can be resolved as a real estate deal might, and there is no recourse to bankruptcy court in international affairs.”

There's at least one way, Happie-G - that's not so far fetched - that this can all get a hell of a lot more interesting than it already is.
So far as I know, Trump hasn't won anything with a 50%+ majority. That means if there are two more Republicans in the race to the end, and they continue to do as well as Rubio and Cruz are doing, then the nomination will be decided at the convention. Where after the first ballot if there's no 50%+1 winner, the delegates will be free to vote for whoever they damn well please on subsequent ballots, subject to all the deal-making, horse-trading, and the agitation that goes down in the smoke filled room.
Then, if the Republicans pick someone other than Trump, he's very likely to run as a "third" party candidate. If I remember right, he was the one who didn't pledge to support the others when that Fox guy asked them at the first debate. ( Lndsay Graham promised to support the eventual Republican nominee that day, too. I'd like to hear from him if Trump wins the nomination )
Bloomberg may go third-party, too. And maybe Sanders, especially if his supporters feel he was "jobbed" by the Democrats. Then we'd have five candidates all running with roughly equal popularity - as in not worth a sh#t, but none having a real advantage over any of the others.
If none of them wins a majority of electoral college electors, then guess what? The House Of Representatives gets to decide who our next President is! How that works out will be must-see TV for sure.

Using that reasoning W abandoned all Americans when he didn't act on the memo "Bin Laden Determined to Attack in America".
Give W a pass for the worst terrorist attack on US soil, but Hillary and Obama are personally responsible for security at one embassy in Libya.
There's a huge double standard for folks in your own party though right?
But really no point in reasoning with the BENGHAZI!! folks.

Thank You, Mitt
Trump's favorables just rose again, as did the veil you willingly wore while being used by the corrupt political establishment who can't afford to lose their power in liberal D.C. Your speech was so silly and contradictory it confirmed the reasons Trump received tens of thousands more votes than you did in your own home state that you governed. Silly man. Could the establishment really not find anyone credible in their holier-than-thou movement to spew the deception you regurgitated today on tv?
Independent, commonsense conservative patriots: now it's our time to ramp it up, to prove even more adamantly that our movement in this time for choosing is wisely chosen by those who know what's at stake for America. The political establishment's desperation is nailing its coffin - obviously a good thing - but we mustn't let the Alinsky tactics used to destroy our We the People movement go unanswered. His shoulders are broad, but Donald Trump must not carry this on his own shoulders. Thankfully, Mitt's anti-Republican Platform speech just strengthened our own. Americans' shoulders just got bigger and broader. Way to go, Mitt.

But 10b4me, you don't understand the role of facts in Trump's campaign; facts have no role. While the guilt by association angle has a certain Trumpian ring to it, all facts seem to do is to galvanize his support. The Trumpers feel that if people are saying all those horrible things about him and, heaven forbid, even resort to arresting someone tied to his campaign, it merely shows that those in power are afraid of him.
That thinking corresponds to "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." The problem, of course, is that "the nightmare of my enemy is my friend" is a non-sequitur. Athens was afraid of Philip of Macedon, but it did not follow that Philip was therefore Sparta's friend. He represented disaster for both. Trump has so many detractors precisely because they recognize his unsuitability for the job, and that things could be much worse than they are now.

You correct John. As long as trump builds a wall, deports the mexicans, stops them pesky muslims, and kicks ISIS ass, he's alright in "my" book.
I'm dumb, and I'm stickin' to it.

After this morning and the speech Mitt gave I'm now seeing Drumpf with no course to the WH. He'll get the nomination unless the republicans pull some BS move. But it's becoming clear that establishment republicans would rather have Hillary for four years then the disaster that would be Drumpf for maybe four years (if he doesn't screw up so bad he gets impeached which is likely in my opinion).
So lose the battle to win the war. Concede the next four years. How? Easy!
Run Mitt 3rd party. Run Ryan as his VP (or some other likable establishment Republican).
The republicans also don't get their asses kicked so hard this election year in other areas (in particular the Senate which will go Democrat question is just how far - a minor battle victory for them).
Then in four years Mitt can run again and he'll be looked at from both sides of the isle has a hero for saving the world from the disaster that is Drumpf. He'll also be more polished as we've seen happen with Billary. Or maybe by then the republicans will have someone show up that is electable (none of these clowns are and Cruz is worse than Drumpf).
Hillary is pretty much a republican of 20+ years ago at this point anyway. It won't be too hard to work with her to get some of their agenda done.
