And I would not mind
A feral mama purring on my lap
To keep my hands warm while I nap
Brother Tim called today.
I missed his first call. (one set of angel wings)
Then I called him back on his cell phone. (two sets of angel wings)
It was breaking up so I called on his land line. (three sets of angel wings)
Twould be strange if he wanted to tell me he was watching Miracle on 34th St.
But he wanted to hear about my recent medical probs (what a Wonderful Life) because we seldom call one another--Lenna's chats seem to keep us up to date on the family.
No, I'm only afraid he wanted to talk about his Happy Holidays.
He went up on Highway 108 to chain on Christmas Day and came home $2,000 richer.
He quit around noon today because it was such a "cluster-f". People were turned out on the sides of the road from Strawberry and way, way down the grade.
He had his hands full and had to jump quick because even the authorized "chaining stops" where he usually operates were clogged with vehicles.
He came home so early because he just couldn't take it any more, even though he came back with $l,600 more.
Compare to last year, when the only day he made ANY money up there was Christmas Day and that was minimal because of the lack of snow.

Some out there are perhaps dreaming of a Wide Christmas.

Any snow in Redding, T Hocking?
We had 30 degree weather at 8:30 a.m. and I sure didn't want to get out from under the comfy blankets, but did.
For some reason, I thought it was Monday, tomorrow, and I have an appt. with the doctor at 9:30 then.
So I bundled up and headed out, getting almost to the Transpo Center (not quite two blocks away) when I noticed the very light traffic and the closed businesses.
Oops! Gosh, I'm feelin' my age!

The weatherman said no climbin' fo' gnome so we packed up kit and kaboodle, and traversed the not frozen or even cold hillsides home
This is the second post after adding to the tasteless pants down thing,
Do they try to out do each other in tastelessness?
What it says about those poised to take over and be the voice of this forum certainly gives one pause as to wether or not to be a part of the forum.

Honey don't - was In my ear ~ and those that want me long dead where way to near to push it.
up left on Peteie's Spare Rib,(now Bolted into a top rope by the 'guides')
and down the right side, the crack line; Lake View, a regulat solo, BITD.
I retrieved a ribbon from 18 years ago.
I had left it mid pitch a slotted knot blocking the only spot for good pro,
although if you are going to try to climb the line;
( on the forever closed to climbing beach & Hotel side),
at that point you really need to run to the top and skeedadle!
I'm sure that I was the last to climb 'A Short Climb'
that starts at Lunch Rock pulls an impressive
Overhang and has a hard face move up on the non vertical section
before it too ended in a summer house,(now gone)
That ascent was on the occasion of my wedding and a story of that got retold
to all incoming employees as to where the man wanted the line drawn.
That man out stayed me but my wedding was the string that once pulled,
started to unravel his strangle hold on the job as the Head of Mohonk Security.
Wet lichen makes for very dangerous soloing.
even up gunks horizontal filled corners that are 5.4.c.
There is dense lichen growth on the lake side and slightly damp (from dew) lichen leaves are actually the best to climb through,
~ um ~ dry summer lichen resembles potato chips, and is Blinding with out eye protection.
Christmas Morning Lichen ?
it had rained solid during the day before.
By dinner time Christmas Eve the clouds were leaving
but it was grey skies and sprinkles at moon set (3:40?)
I was climbing things that have not seen more than 1-2 ascents in 20 years (?)
I saw no signs of passage by any one, since my self,
I guess someone could /should have, the thing is classic,
so?
~ I sound so confrontational?
What it is, is that I'm guilty of the standard worst trait of climbers,
or a version of what was a cast of characters, with out a script.
Playing with gravity as if it were a striptease.
For those of us who could & can not stop.
I feel a sense of entitlement
~?~
with a nod that it is wrong
some lines demand to be climbed.
&
I'm de'mand ta do im, 'ay
( or I was back 35 pounds ago - now ? - not so much )
We used to builder & boulder across the Mountain House grounds,
an occasional and welcome sight.
Now climbing is ,verboten.
There is the famous Lemon Squeeze;
a set of three ladders that take you into the bottom of a narrow corridor Climbable by bridging, chimneing.
The corridor is two hundred feet long and dead ends at at ladder,
beyond, behind the ladder is a dark bottomless rift,
The crack narrowing to Jaybro's favorite size, wide; double, off fists.
that goes up and down, 300 feet.
Everyone takes the ladders. . .
but you do not have to take them,
and can climb around, 'the Squeezes' through, or past the 'car hood' size chock stones
that block the way, and give the trail its name.
The Lemon Squeeze.

I have made and withdrawn a few posts. Usually it's been women. I do take requests, so if someone does I usually do.
I started one obviously satirical thread and most everybody who commented had already pooped in their pants.
Funny thing, the subject of the thread (MA) told a mutual acquaintence, he thought is was funny as hell.
Praise Hurricane.

Tinkerdoodle Finkelstein
My first love was a knock kneed girl,
By the name of Grace with a skin of pearl,
With a gentle smile and a graceful pen,
Though what did I know way back then,
With shortish crown and brownish curl,
I thought she loved this boy of ten,
But cruel is the world as the earth is round,
She moved back east and without a sound,
She sent to me at her folks behest,
Her dear john letter it was my first test,
Of my broken heart lest I expound,
That bitterest taste I'd learn of best,
As I grew up those flames were few,
Where love's concerned what could I do,
My tender heart was n'er to learn,
The candle singed but love would burn,
And like the nested cuckoo flew,
So did loves interests I would learn,
What turned out the best of circumstance,
Another found me at her first glance,
And somewhere along my upturned youth,
My true true love found a lad uncouth,
And we began our lifelong dance,
As I grow older and long of tooth,
Now wedded nearing two full score,
She's oft' to find this boy a bore,
Not passing on the chance to pair,
My boyhood crush to a love affair,
Though veiled in jest her envy's more,
A mutual joke that we both do share,
And if I mention once by name,
My fifth grade love and childhood flame,
My wife will interject in kind,
"Oh Tinkerdoodle Finklestein!
That was her name all just the same,"
No argument would change her mind,
"I kicked her ass and don't forget!"
Of course the two had never met,
My spouse's jealous nature clear,
I'll always forgive this flaw my dear,
A wife like her I'll not regret,
With a will so strong and a love so clear,
That 'Tinkerdoodle Finklestein,'
Woulda got whooped by the wife o' mine,
She'd a kicked her butt 'fore I was eleven,
Back in the winter of '67,
What she'd have done there's no denyin,'
She'd a sent that poor girl straight to heaven,
The lesson here lessen you get burned,
Don't speak to your love of a love that's spurned,
Lest you get spurned and burned in kind,
And for 'Tinkerdoodle Finklestein,'
Purge old passions and be dewormed,
Of love that's lost and best left behind.

Counting Crows?
Every year, the San Diego Audubon Society holds a set of Christmas Bird Counts
4 days in and 3 to go
Bush tit
House finch
Townsend's warbler
Yellow-rumped warbler
Wilson's Warbler
But wait, there's more (if you read the fine print)
Apparently bigger goings on than I thought - 2010
The 110th season for the annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count has come to an end. In California, thousands of birders joined in an effort to survey birds at 130 Christmas Bird Count circles across the state.

Anyway
Sigourney, Goldie and a young Marilyn.
Sigourney is just about 1/2 inch under 6 feet, which means she could have played in our 6 ft and under league. I could have guarded her.
