Tahoe Climber- "Is "Christ" weschrist's last name?"
No!
His first name is Wes, and his last name begins with "Christ......" I won't print it in full out of respect for his anonymity. And, although he use to hassel the sh#t out of me at times, I miss the dood. Generally had something positive or worthwhile to say which produced 'food for thought', made you think and occasionally reevaluate certain issues, etc.! And, although we may not have always agreed with each other, he stood up for what he believed to be true, therefore I greatly respected the guy.
He should be allowed back, imo!!
edit:@Tahoe Climber, btw, cool thread and thanks for starting it!

He truly can't, folks.
Remember sh#t.
He can't remember me.
(I've never met him and I'm not sh#t.)
You know who, the dude at the top of the page,
I think it's a case of his parents''ses telling him
over and over, "Way no! You'll put your eye out, man."
Beats plain "W" or "u*u" any day.
I was named Brian, then Mouse in the 8th Grade took over. I was new to town,
and on my second day in eighth grade I was given the name. It was during a recess tag football game. I got thru on defense and tagged the QB so easily because I was so small I could hide behind Farmboy Monte and miss being blocked out of the play. I just "reached around." Geil started calling me Mouse because no one was sure of the n00b's name. Mouse style being unobtrusive but still a pest.
The next day Padilla calls my house, asks my mom, "Are you Mrs. Mouse? This is Micky (real name). Can I talk to your son...uh...Mouse?"

^I'm following you, but a middle name of 'from' and last of 'merced'?
When I was growing up they often called me Speedo, though my real name was Mr. Earl.
I'm going out for a lollipop now.
EDIT: Could not find one. All there seems to be are tootsie roll pops and suckers.

"They" told me there was already a "Mouse" avating the premices.

MWL is harder to type out, though.

You know I got the name from Bruce Brossman. I was climbin' in the Valley on weekends with an old hard man named Dave Holmes and then later Helga Brown was my partner.
Holmes introduced me to Bruce and somehow that name showed up. I'd played a lot of basketball on hard courts in Oakland and Berkeley and it maybe fit my poor mtn attire and bad crack climbing skills and 'urban' language use.
Bruce was always helpful and fun and I went with it when my topo time came.
Movin' down near the tracks this week actually...

Some 30 years ago when we were young adults, my best friend would find those little forms that offered things like a month free health club membership, and he would fill them out with my information to be a pest. My last name is Rector and he would write down "Rectorsquid."
So that's it. In his memory, and because it's always a unique name on every site where I need a user name, I use that name much of the time.

"Mind", he began, lifting one arm from the elbow, the palm of the hand outwards, so that, with his legs folded before him, he had the pose of a Buddha preaching in European clothes and without a lotus flower."

In the late 70's-early 80's I used to show a 1 1/2 hour slide show of my climbing exploits on the college outing club circuit. It was a blend of narrative and music (Floyd, Hot Tuna, Talking Heads, REM) and covered rock, ice, big walls, and mountaineering. The title was "Edge Games".
Move forward 20 years to when I become coach of the junior team at the Dover Indoor Climbing Gym. We needed a name, and wanted an original one, as other gyms were the lame "Cliffhangers" or "Wallcrawlers" and the like. I suggested the "Dover Edge" because it sounded like a sports franchise kind of name, and the kids voted for that as a team name. Afterwards the gym's owner laughed, as he had briefly considered naming the gym "Dover the Edge". I'm glad he didn't...
So, Edge has historic and current meaning for me, and I like it's simplicity.

I was watching Return to Balance: A Climber's Journey and Ascending Rhythm and was enthralled watching Ron Kauk climb. He has always been an inspiration for me not only in his smooth uber-strong climbing ability but his mindset. If ever there was someone who seemed to belong on the rock it is Ron.
I was doing a lot of soloing around the time that I joined the tacostand and when I would solo, I would repeat in my head some quotes I had heard that helped my mindset, this one from Kauk in particular :
"When I find my balance, there's a synchronicity to every move, a connection to myself and all the world around me. These are truly magic moments."
For me it captured the essence of those magical days spent climbing where it all comes together in mind and body, hence Synchronicity.

Took a youth group out to a ranch for a horseback riding camp out many years ago. Rancher brought me a sleek young gelding - prancing, it looked fast. I explained that, uh, not sure that is for me. I was thrown many a time riding at my grandmother's (Nona) ranch in my youth - perhaps you have something a little 'slower?'
so they bring me out this old grey sway back mare partially blind in one eye. "Her name is Nibs." Perfect. and she was perfect. I, however, was the butt of many a joke all weekend.
When I signed up to ST I thought, ya know, I think I have arrived. I am Nibs, dammit!!

YIKES!
Both renditions
Chordettes made it all the way to #2 on the charts in 1958.
Maybe a spoonful of "Sugar Daddy" will make the medicine go down. 3,368,862 viewers and counting. Did it chart? Ya got me. As far as I can tell Sugar Daddy is not taken on Super Topo.
