As someone who hasn't climbed much in years and can count on one hand the number of people from this site that I've met in person, the forum will be missed. This has been a excellent resource and repository of knowledge from climbers of all types, with the obvious bias towards the Valley. It has always been fascinating to hear from elder statesmen and women of the tribe, those who were present at some of the significant events that have made climbing what it is today.
No less interesting has been the "off topic" threads wherein members have given us all a glimpse into their lives "off the rock", be it about their families, their pets, what they're building, even their conspiracy theories du jour.

I have so followed all the posts.
I've love the irreverant interactions, especially those that assured me I was not the only person that called out jerk-ery
I've read amazing route reports, and laughed so much at the stupidity of just doing it.
Truly truly sad at the loss of the taco forum
And the music and the musing
It's great to find something so free and crazy and unfiltered, and yet respectful for damm hard stuff
I miss you guys, every freakin one of you

I find no desire to thank those who are killing this fine online community, but happily, many of us have established links to our ST friend's lives.

Looking forward to it! I should get out more. Lots of slack? Might as well, as they say nothing holds in those mud 'n crud. :)
I can't imagine this site without more active contributions will stay around for long. Visiting traffic will plummet. A lapse in the renewal of domain registration or the web hosting could make this entire website go away over night.
While there will be no more threads predicting the opening date of Tioga Pass, maybe people can make their guesses about last day (year) of supertopo.com . My prediction is 2020.

I sure will miss lurking around this place..... Over the years I've been a dedicated lurker (lol) on quite a few climbing forums, and a few non-climbing forums. This place will go down as one of the best. Sad to see it go.
