oh, well technically it was suppose to be split between the winners. The donation part came late. So I suppose it doesn't matter - Access fund is fine.

That's what I thought then I started seeing all the donation posts. I was too lazy to go through the thread. No discipline. No wonder I didn't make the 10. Boo hoo

196lbs but somehow managed a steep 11 FA last weekend. They were making fun of my hard breathing on the 10b warm-up. Feeling stronger but need to get the weight down for sure. :)

116, creeping down toward my original goal (114.4). I've been sick with respiratory gunk, no aerobic. But back to climbing this week.

Depending on what happens with muscle mass I think I will try to drop 3-5 more over the summer.

I gained back 3 after sushifest, and the pigging out for the week after. cinco de mayo and associated hangover today (ie eat frozen pizza day) didn't help. Back on the wagon sunday!

Okay so I'm now up a pound. Little too much snacking, plus a fall off from cardio now that the crags are warm. To make things worse, my daughter gets out of school for summer soon. Gonna make the exercise harder to fit in around everything else.

I've noticed such a huge difference in my climbing thanks to the added fitness from the challenge, I'm not about to give that up.

So, I'm starting a losers' bracket. Anyone is welcome, even if you aren't a loser. My target is 2 pounds beyond my original goal, to be shed (and maintained) by July 1. I'll once again be paying the deficit to charity at a rate of $10/lb.

I'd love to hit 160 by July 1st. But doing it without starvation and episodes of eating more than I should because being hungry for long makes you crave the food more. Not sure what I weight now. Likely close to 168 or so. Will check today. But I will try to join you. Maybe we can do some sort of an email chain instead of doing an open ST thing? Just an idea...
In general I feel stronger than I did when I was not eating as much, although I did gain back a few pounds, so I don't want to lose strength. Have to really control the nutrition intake.

I'm still hovering right where I finished - 8 lbs down from my blimped-out weight.

We could do what we inadvertently did last time - $10 per pound for not reaching your goal weight. That way anyone could play and there would be no disadvantage (even if your goal was to lose a pound you wouldn't be winning/splitting the pot).

I'd do five pounds - 167 goal weight

That seem fair?

I think any goal is fair, especially when the pot goes to charity. Mine will be about 5 down from current, too.

What I really like about the challenge is the accountability. I don't have a hard time finding motivation for climbing, but sometimes I really would rather eat a cookie than cross train.

I think the email idea is a decent one. I'm happy to start/maintain the list if that's how we want to go. Show of hands?

Hey.. Diet challenge people, I thought this was a really good article, it certainly is my own personal experience.......Calorie restriction is more of a player in weight loss than exercise....Exercise for overall health, ..eat less to lose weight..

does beer count as "eating"?

That's my downfall. I like beer. Though I did realize that if I have snacks in the house I'll gobble them up late at night. Nothing worse than waking up in the morning to that empty pint of coconut ice cream that was purchased just 12 hours prior.

And I have no problem with this philosophy.

Interesting article about follow up studies on some of the participants of the biggest loser. Turns out after you restrict a significant amount of calories, the metabolic needs of your body also change. You end up needing less calories a day to maintain weight. Which means added calories after restrictions, could lead to re-gaining some of the weight.
I wonder what are my metabolic needs. I used to weight 300 lbs and dropped a lot of weight over the years. Also, my resting HR is about 45...
