Apparently those who feel there is something just not right about Matt are right after all.

hey, you may never know exactly whom you are talking smack about online. now then, if i really am the antisocial anarchist that jeff is always saying i am, maybe that could come back to bite him...?

i dunno, if it were me, i wouldn't post up all the stuff he does w/ my work email right there, but to each his own!

but don't worry jeff, i would never key your car or anything like that, mostly because i am not some antisocial anarchist, but i really don't mind if you spend time worrying about me keying your car, and if your car (do you drive a nioce car? do you leave it outside most days?) ever did get keyed, i wouldn't really be bothered by the idea that you might wonder if i did it or not... it's such a small world these days.

btw-
do you take pride in your car, jeff?
i'll bet you drive a really nice car.

isn't the internet a wierd place, jeff?
you should try to get out climbing more.

Matt, why so much vitriol––coming from such a happily married man?

Shouldn't your free time be spent spent fantasizing about your wife?

those words are an admission that my point is valid, and you were/are just a fat guy w/ a jonz for feeling powerful, and given the opportunity to balance their budget, the sherrif in the low rent part of town is/was happy to let you live out your fantasies on the backs of the po'-black-folks.

The only reason I'm posting to this thread is that I accidentally have broadband for the day....

I ran into Matt in the High Country last weekend. He's still a good guy and his wife is a babe just as bragged.

Still, I don't vouch for the way Matt or Fatty treat each other on Supertopo. I guess if it's fun for ya'll then swing away. It's funny how things spiral out of control on the net. Once it's "OK" to trash somebody, all of a sudden they are easy to trash.

Somebody find that "Die Thread Die" graphic and post it. Enough!

Peace

I'm the first for August on this thread.

Locker, my condolences about your brother. WoodySt, if you see him before he sees this, please pass on my condolences.

Please do not drive this thread any higher. I really do not want EDIT: what's his name EDIT to come out of his unannounced (second) retirement. The number of posts on this thread could just push that button…

LOL, Trad, seeing as I have now been convinced by other SuperTacos as well as yourself that what’s his name is your son, perhaps we should heed your warning, as father knows best.

Johnx01, my ex-fiancee and I lived briefly (October 1990 to January 1991) in Tregarth, actually in a collory (sp?) cottage (miner’s cottage) about a 15-minute walk to Tregarth village. We use to do our laundry in Bethesda. I have bouldered and top roped up in the Carneddau area, but don’t ask me what, as I had no guide book and only messed around, showing Marie the ropes. Lovely area.

My late dog (border collie lab mix and like my son) came from Mynthglandengai (sp? big time, the word is even longer than I have spelt it), a speck off the road in the hills above Tregarth. He went on with Marie and me to London and California, where she left me to go back to London where her family was living (Wexford folk like Marie). The dog (Ci, Welsh for dog, original eh?) stayed with me and is now, sadly, buried in the Wicklow mountains near my editor’s family cottage.

Check your e-mail John (as I’m sure you do without any prompting from me).

EDIT

Hey, I don’t think that Matt is all that bad, though I don’t think it is cool posting somebody’s address like he did with Jeff’s. As for Fattrad, he seems that he is okay as well, except for his neo-con tendencies, but we all can’t be perfect.

BTW whoever posted that link (on some thread) to Major General Smedley Darlington Butler’s War is a Racket, thanks. He got it spot on though I am not sure about some of his solutions. Maybe you should read it Fattrad.

Wiki article on the man (so read it with a grain of salt as anything on Wikipedia)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smedley_Butler

That map of Walnut Creek makes me wax nostalgic. You can see the hospital I was born in (Kaiser), my schools (St Mary’s, Fairview Intermediate, Del Valle HS – okay not the actual schools but where they are), the road I grew up on (Juanita Drive, just south of the Highway 24 ‘sign’ on the highway).

Maybe it’s time I head back home. I haven’t seen my mom in over ten years, nor my brothers, their families. best friends, their families et al, and with the sad news of Locker’s bro, it makes me think anew, as I love my mother, brothers and friends. (Big time thread drift).

You were twelve in 73?

And you thought the rural south was only ten years behind?

MAN, I planted trees in a stip mine reclamation project in about 1975, lived in the south all my life, and going out to the coal area was like going back 20 years or more from Birmingham.

fatguy- anyone who bothers to check your list of recent posts will see that about half of your effort here on ST is spent trashing me. anyone really curious where all this animosity on my part comes from needs only to go back through your 1st 100 or so posts on this site. as far as i am concerned, you have gotten off lightly, so far. fyi- i was careful not to threaten your personal property, but as in most other cases, i am not concerned w/ your take on the matter.

here's a nice cross section of fatguys early posts:
http://www.supertopo.com/forumsearch.html?s=ratings&o=ASC&v=0&cur=2800&ftr=id%3A%3A797#list

hey fatguy- regarding how you are in real life- i recall, more than once, offering you the chance to discuss this or that in person, but just as wrt going climbing, or just like your persona on the net, you'd always rather talk a big game.

...and no, you should not expect me to be nice to you, here, or in person.

EDIT-
"please try to act on the net as you would in person, I do"

i challenge you to say to my face many things you have written here. we can meet publicly in the park, or in some parking lot at night, i don't care either way. i will print 20 or so posts in which you have offended me, and you can do the same. i will look you in the eye and say to your face exactly what i have written here on ST. are you man enough to do the same? i highly doubt it, and i don't think you will be pleased with the outcome if you do.

hey, where the hell is locker?

That we would ever meet face to face does not necessarily mean there would be fisticuffs (but if there were, you would have no partner, no gun, and no nightstick- and still you outweigh me by how many hundreds of pounds?)

It seems clear to me that your chicken-shit/hawk mentality is one that somehow allows you to rationalize your own obvious cowardliness, all the while believing that you are some man's-man tough guy. You are simply all talk, and in this case it's just as you said, you are the same here online, and in real life.

The challenge to say those things to my face stands.

Hey you two, tone it down, I like both of you even though I have never met either of you. You both have said (as I'd bet we all have at one point or another on this forum) some pretty nasty things, primarily aimed at each other.

I don't know what kind of climbers you are, but when it come to politics I'd usually side with Matt. Fattrad you are too far out there on the right on many issues for my liking. Your self-confessed neo-con activities and agenda are not good for this country. The truth will out on that one.

Your unbridled support for Israel, even what may be at the cost of our country, I find a bit disturbing. For example, how many times has Israel used us and even betrayed us (what about the USS Liberty, just for one example even though it was in 1967, you never answered my question on that one). Sure countries use one another. There is no such thing as altruism in world politics. Ulterior motives are the bread and butter of international affairs. But still, your views on the US-Israel relationship I find a bit perturbing.

Your very anti-Islamic views I find distasteful in several ways, even if you may be partially correct (but not as much as you think IMO) that there are headcases in the Islamic world who want a new Caliphate. There are also enough extremist fundamentalists in Christianity and Judaism.

of my pragmatic view of the world (now coming to fruition), you have been proven wrong and now must live with what you have written

Pragmatic? Pick another word Fattrad.

“Now coming to fruition”. Perhaps because much of it is being driven by people in power whose agenda is well suited by a conflict in the Middle East, so why avoid one. In fact, flame the fires now raging both in the Middle East and the Islamic world. Keep throwing gasoline on them and soon those fires will be raging in Europe, America and elsewhere.

Is that what your kind really want? If so, it’s pretty sick and downright greedy, selfish and anti-humankind.

Read “War is a Racket” by Major General Smedley Darlington Butler. Considering his experience and knowledge, I’d say it is one of the best treatsies on the issue, especially considering when he wrote it. I can only surmise that he’d be turning over in his grave at the neo-con agenda.

As for you Matt, you can get sort of nasty as well, but because our political views are not so dissimilar (though how close they are I’m not sure), I’ll cut you a bit more leeway.

Now, the sun is out (for how long?) and I'll be on the rock within the hour for an hour or so.

I'm curious Jeff, why should Matt seek psychiatric help? And not you? He hasn’t been baying for human blood, war and human misery like you have in just about every political post on this forum.

Are you so positioned professionally to be saying if someone should seek out psychiatric help? With the exception of some vitriolic posts, primarily aimed at you, he hasn’t really exhibited any psychopathic or sociopathic tendencies. None that I could discern in the year plus I have been posting here. I do find some of the things he says distasteful but not any more than some things you have posted.

I will say, however, that most of your venom is aimed at Matt, and hardly any others, while Matt is not as selective and has been caustic to a handful.

As far as I can tell, but who am I, I ain't no shrink?

And I really am headed off to the crags right now. No more Supertopo for me this evening. Make hay while the sun shines, and in Ireland that is not as often as in California.
