I think the pic that is two pics up is the climb that is on the trail going down to Hard as Nails. Greg's problem. 5.11a

Don't recognize the climber but it looks as if he is unroped on the Seminar Wall?

this problem is "greg's face", totally obvious from the road, right below the seminar wall awitchback. when i was at woodson with beehay over christmas we stopped and looked at it from the road. the trail to it is gone, just gone. i bet nobody has done that thing in a very, very long time. and that's a shame. it's a five-star woodson 5.11 highball with lots of air and classic steep slab moves. one of the best climbs of it's type at woodson, really. somebody should cut a new trail down to it before the shindig so folks can jump on it.
i think you used to walk under it on the way down to "hard as nails". is that trail gone as well?

bvb, thanks for the info. Think it was a bit of a "bushy" walk bitd. If anyone wants to meet me at Woodsen between now and March I'd be glad to provide some labor and a couple machetes. :D lynne

I was nineteen, back in 1981, when, while working at General Dynamics Electronics, I learned of a ropes course being given out in Jacumba, CA. I would meet a man named Roger Barnes, of Poway, CA, who became my climbing mentor for a number of years thereafter. Roger introduced me to Woodson and began to share with me its lore that I continue to share to those that come to this wonderful place. I hope to reunite with Roger and bring him with me in March.

bvb - trails are currently being cut/recut to new/existing problems. You made your wish in the right place, I suspect trails will now reappear to those classics. It looks like there are quite a few new problems under construction.
That spot on Greg's Problem looks really useful. About the only thing that would happen there is that the "spotter" would get "squashed".
I'm not sure if I've ever been to Hard as Nails or not. What kind of problem is it? Face or crack? For some reason I want to say crack but I'm not sure why.

The trail is still there ya'll but a bit vague to spot. Just before the Seminar Wall switchback, across the road from where that overhanging orange face looms above, you can spot it down on the right side below some cement blocks. It's quite the groomed trail still! Henny, this is the same trail to Hard As Nails, 5.11a/b tips crack that looks like a miniature of something you'd see in Yosemite! It's that gorgeous and leadable! Johnny said he had been there when I ran into you all. I'm sure he can fill you in on the details. Here are some pictures I found...

I was down at Greg's face for a look a couple of weeks ago. Still a faint trail from the gully below Seminar wall. The base of the face is overgrown though. We'll chop it out probably on the next visit.

I got in touch with Donny Bedford. Hopefully he'll post up here soon, as he was mentioning some pretty good stuff.
He did set me straight on the name and rating of the arete just left of Eppy's B-day. Slap You Silly, 11b.
Looks like some 11a problems need to be dusted off at Rubidoux. Sheesh, it just never seems to end.

The best trail to Greg's face and Nails is on the right side of the road about 10 feet before it turns left. You Go straight down for about 8 feet over two small rocks and the trail goes left straight to Greg's and then hits the gully and you follow that downhill (right) for 30 feet or so.

Can I come? I really wanna'!
I been to Woodson a time or two.
Put me on the list please.
I really just want to check out the scene, and I'm old enough to fit in.
What's the date again?

We re-chopped out the trail from Big Horn down to Starface. Amazing piece of rock down there. Don't show up without a limb saw.
