"Who would Jesus vote for? To him walls, wealth, & torture are non-starters, so probably the Jewish New Yorker from Vermont." -Neil deGrasse Tyson, tweet, just now

I think Neil just endorsed Sanders.

Sad to say, the idea that authoritarian preferences exist among people supporting populism at either extreme seems lost on those commenting on the link. With all due, and some undue, respect for the author, she seems so focused on the link on the right that she can't see the link on the left. Meanwhile, ironically enough, in today's Daily Signal (the e-newsletter of the Ted-Cruz-conservative Heritage Foundation), there is a link to a blurb by the author of The Closing of the Liberal Mind about how left-wing populism and authoritarianism go hand-in-hand. It never occurs to him that they fit together in right-wing populism as well.

According to the results, far more authoritarians are republicans than democrats. Given that the GOP seems bent on nominating an authoritarian for president, I don't see why for now they should spend much time looking at authoritarian dems.

Sure, you can get populist, authoritarians from either the extreme right or extreme left. And while those who think that Obama is a communist, fascist, atheist, Muslim, America-hater, would no doubt disagree, the democrats are about to nominate Hillary who is the definition of a wonkish, pragmatic, centrist. The republicans on the other hand...

What part don't you get, ken?

I get that you are now backing off of your allegation, because you cannot support what you said.

Thanks!

I think this republican primary has been the most interesting primary in either party in decades. 2008 dem primary was groundbreaking and close, but we could be looking at a political earthquake here.

Anyone else agree?

The mainstream media has spent more coverage time on Trump than every other Republican candidate put together

I believe if the media had not spent as much time covering him, he would have dropped out. His campaign is ego driven.

Probably true, 10b4me. But I also know that Trumpism is a largely self-inflicted Republican wound. If the candidates took him on months ago the way Rubio finally did in the last debate (and Ben Shapiro admirably and convincingly did online), he would not hauntour visions of the coming electoral disaster, but the powers-that-be were too afraid to alienate his supporters by actually dealing with issues and truth.

I feel like Habbakuk waiting for the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians. I know we deserve judgment, but how could let them do it to us?

Brotherb...
I've had the extension installed since early yesterday. It's hilarious.
I still do the double take when all CNN headlines (or wherever) have it as Drumpf.

I do believe sensible minds will prevail. John Oliver is one of those minds. He eviserated Drumpf. Not that it matters to the brain dead haters. It's probably just too much for them to admit how much they've been lied to.

Even if Trump went all SCaLIA on us and died in his sleep, Hillary would still be the next Presodent O These United States.

If he doesn't, same result.
