Song Facts:

The pipe band was the Royal Scot's Dragoon Guards, a Highland regiment...

Burdon received an angry letter from the British government for his use of the pipe music.
The tune he used was "All The Bluebonnet's Are Over The Border," which is a classic Scottish war piece...

This song got little airplay as it was over seven minutes long...
The single was split into two parts to fit on the 45--you had to flip the record to hear the whole song.

And I'm pretty sure Beethoven did the guitar riff for one of the two guitar slingers.

It kinda gets you to wondering if Beethoven could sign?

I’m listening to Neil Young, I gotta turn up the sound
Someone’s always yelling turn it down
Feel like I’m drifting
Drifting from scene to scene
I’m wondering what in the devil could it all possibly mean?

zB, it probably means you need to go out for a run. :) It will clear your head and you will feel better and not be making so much noise in the home. :)

Merry Christmas to you and M. and family!

245 reasons to love Beethoven.

Reason 245: He gets better every ear!

Reason 246: Not Fur Release this year...

Last night I made my way upstairs to John Decker's and we watched his new Blouray disc of Jeremiah Johnson and, of course, being such a great story and having been filmed so beautifully, it was to die fur.

On arriving, however, we finished watching a PBS documentary on a local channel on honey badgers, one in particular, named Blodgett.

Blodgett and his mate, Hammy, are typical of this species: SMARTER than you and TOTALLY FEARLESS with any other wild creature, though they have to pay attention when it comes to cheetahs and the occasional lion.

They'd been put in the slam at an animal shelter in the neighborhood there in South Africa for raiding pig farms and bee keepers, but they could not be contained for long. They are just too smart for bars and wire mesh and concrete to hold them and THEY NEVER GIVE UP!!

Here's a (partial) self-quote from me, the Mustelid from Merced, on their abilities:
"They honey badgers make El Chapo look lack the rankest amateur and ol' Papillon would shrink back into his chrysalis fur shame, I'm tellin' ya. They cain't bend steel in they bar hands, nor will they leap tall buildin's, but they's still super-Mustelids, IMO. If you cain't keep up with 'em, you'll never keep 'em. They's just too dang restless in thar cages."

There's more I could say, but you get the picture...it's not in Blouray, but u nawmean.

feralfae, I'm not of British extraction, I must assure you, dear lass. It's one of many things for which I thank my creator.

ff:

It's Bob Dylan who is confused. I was just borrowing his words.

I could use a break though. It seems like I've been spending way too much time lying under cars for a near 70 year old.

Relic? Naw. Chele says were just reaching our Prime. In fact we are Amazon Prime. That way I can get those car parts shipped way faster.

Yes indeedy, the music never stopped.

zB,
LOL
Glad you are not confused. Chele is right: you two are just reaching your prime. Yes, I appreciate Amazon Prime, too. Just back from visiting my godsons and goddaughter and their parents, and the three boys spend most of their spare time under cars, because they restore Mustangs and Broncos under their Dad's direction. It is their hobby. They have some beautiful cars. Many beautiful cars. It keeps them all out of trouble, except that they spend a lot on parts. Yes, often through Prime. They each have a beautiful restored Mustang, and I think their Dad has three of them.

Right now, I am savoring some elk jerky the youngest of the three guys made, from one of their elk, and it is deeelicious.

Happy Holiday to you and your loved ones!

Mouse, you are right, the Brandenburg #3 is much better with both screens running. Wow. I wonder if Scriabin saw anything like this when he was composing. He saw music as lights, as well as healing it as notes. I wonder if Bach had the same experiences.

I have always liked the name Sebastian. :)

Your lobby and mezzanine look lovely. What a nice place to walk through each day. Lovely.

Beautiful dreams, probably of sugar plums or reindeer, everyone.

Thanks for those sweet dreams, ff.

Funny thing happened on the way back to the forum. One of those cars I've been lying under is a Mustang.

This isn't anything Bob Dylan said or thought. It's good though.

(and it is Prine - ff :}

oh, zB! I like that cute song.
Just must share this before I close down the computer for the night...
It reminds me of when Doug and I were headed to a very posh restaurant one night. You know, the kind of place where you must make reservations weeks in advance; there are only six tables; you bring your own wine after you've discussed the evening's menu with the chef before you leave home. As we were walking up to the door, another couple arrived. The guy took one look at Doug in his pony tail, beard, and top hat and said, loudly "Sh*t man, you must have a pair of big brass b***s!" and came over and shook Doug's hand. Then he turned to me in my blue fox coat, and said, "And you, beautiful lady, are his perfect consort."
So I HAD to say, "He's a climber. He was born with them. I'm just along for the ride." Doug and I both laughed robustly, and Doug walked a little taller. :) We shared our wine with the guy and his wife, once we were all in the restaurant and seated at our respective tables.

My eldest of the three godsons has a Mustang with flames on it, by the way, Mouse. I will ask him for a pix to share here. The guys also keep my little MGB in good running order. All great mechanics, but all getting professional degrees. They will keep their cars, as you probably do zB, as a hobby.

Good night all again. Sugar plum dreams.

OUR TOWN

And you know the sun's settin' fast
And just like they say nothing good ever lasts
Well, go on now and kiss it goodbye but hold on to your lover
'Cause your heart's bound to die
Go on now and say goodbye to our town, to our town
Can't you see the sun's settin' down on our town, on our town
Goodnight

Up the street beside that red neon light
That's where I met my baby on one hot summer night
He was the tender and I ordered a beer
It's been forty years and I'm still sitting here

It's here I had my baby's and I had my first kiss
I've walked down Main Street in the cold morning mist
Over there is where I bought my first car
It turned over once but then it never went far

I buried my Mama and I buried my Pa
They sleep up the street beside that pretty brick wall
I bring them flowers about every day
But I just gotta cry when I think what they'd say

Now I sit on the porch and watch the lightning-bugs fly
But I can't see too good, I got tears in my eyes
I'm leaving tomorrow but I don't want to go
I love you my town, you'll always live in my soul

But I can see the sun's settin' fast
And just like they say nothing good ever lasts
Well, go on I gotta kiss you goodbye but I'll hold to my lover
'Cause my heart's 'bout to die
Go on now and say goodbye to my town, to my town
Can't you see the sun's settin' down on my town, on my town
Goodnight, goodnight

How POSH was it? One of them "long-order" shindigs, huh?

LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS
PAY THE PRICE

Love and Hate and Respect and Neglect
All of these one must collect
Add them to your self one at a time
And walk in moon light like you are blind

And when you're sittin' there
In your old rockin' chair
Thinkin' 'bout what you had
Just be quiet, just be glad

DEAR LONG JOHNS

Why's it so dark just before dawn?
Is it because of someone who's gone?
Could it be Lefty's old long johns?
Should old Pancho change his name to Juan?

Sugar plums for breakfast, anyone?

Hey Brian,
Thanks for the kind words. I pick up the boy after school tomorrow and we'll be skiing and sledding until Christmas Eve. I'm hoping for a luge run through the Nelder Grove of Big Trees.

This is from today. The fire burned area is really pretty. I didn't expect that.
