Just to RE:RE:RE confirm, definitely in for 2 (guess what my son is getting for his birthday?)

Ed, are you going to deliver these so we can go test them out?

I'm trying to help with the organization of the list... this is an interesting exercise in grass roots fabrication boot strapping, once the first hammers are back and assembled the hammersmith will have a much better idea on cost and schedule.

It's all kinda groovy... so stay mellow out there and laid back. Good things come to those who wait.

With the Deuce 5 Hammer project in full swing and production under way, what are the chances of Theron posting pics of the production process and the work that goes into bring back this piece of history????

BrendanR has got it right!

Pictures man!

It would be cool to see the steps that go into fabrication for those of us that aren't so metal savvy.

Oh and just confirming my order for 1 whammer.

Notwithstanding the above posts, we are going to get Whammers made pro-bono by some cool people with tons of time invested for no $$$ reward. If finding photo-op time takes away from the labor of love getting these hammers out, I can do without pictures.

What say you?

I say Theron is obviously proud of his work and likes to photo it. He's posted some pics of testing new cams and beaks.
Taking pics is also a great way to document your work for your own needs.
Hope he can make the time and energy to do it.

Don't think so, Bro.

The line item budget has all parts and labor included.

MTucker,

You may be right, but please show me the line item for risk and profit for the guys making this happen.

Thanks,

Costs per each Hammer:

Deburr of Forging Flash: 7.00
Milling of Hammer Face: 5.75
Drilling of Carabiner Hole: 6.00
Heat Treating: 1.47
Sandblasting: 1.05
Assembly: 9.50
Anti Corrosion Dip: 0.65
Drilling of Handle for Leash: 0.75
Logo Removal: 2.00
Subtotal: 34.17

Previous Costs:
(2) Stainless Steel Tangs: 2.92
Forging of Hammer Head 16.45
Total: 53.54

Remaining costs:
Leash w/ Ring-Russ?
Handle-Joseph?

See that $34.17. That is labor. Some with tools. Not free.

Pro bono publico (usually shortened to pro bono) is a phrase derived from Latin meaning "for the public good". The term is generally used to describe professional work undertaken voluntarily and without payment as a public service.

I just wanted to confirm that I am in for one hammer.

There will be progress pics of the project.

I am super busy at the moment. Taxes, moving houses, kids, cam hooks/tomahawks/rivet hangers, regular work. Where did my climbing time go?

When I get further news from Ajax I will post it up. They said 8 to 10 weeks versus their normal 10-12 weeks. They must be slow or something. ;)

Thanks to Ed for doing the foot work on this end of the project!

The hammers themselves will actually cost some money, yes, but a hell of a lot of work has been put into this project by healyje, Ed, deuce4, Theron and other for which they will not be paid. It is a super cool thing for them to have done. Guys thank for all the hard work.

There is some essence of Pro Bono with "for the public good" even if it is not "free".

Labor of love.

It certainly has been a journey, and one with a lot of help from Deuce, Conrad Anker, Conrad's admin Pamela Hainsworth, Lewis McNeal at Link Handle, Ed, Fish, Theron and others (especially our recent anonymous patron). But, in the end it will be Theron doing the real heavy lifting to make this happen so lots of big thanks should be steered his way.
