I've been half expecting this since the first reports about the main spillway damage. The officials should have given warning yesterday. It can get a lot worse than just the emergency spillway.

They just said they brought the emergency spillway down to 2 inches and they're hoping that there will be no imminent failure.

They are going to fix the hole with helicopters dropping rocks into it ......

It just seems like this emergency spillway was poorly designed if less then one day of water going over it would cause this much erosion near the base of it.

You gotta be kidding Werner. It would take fleets of heavy lifting choppers to move the amount of rip rap neccessary.

The sheriff said this. lol

That is their plan believe it or not.

Helicopters dropping rocks into the main spillway damaged hole.

I thought they meant helicopters dropping rock into where the erosion was happening near the base of the auxiliary/emergency spillway.

They are not talking about filling the main spillway hole, they are talking about a boil that has developed below the emergency spillway.

Ok the boil hole then.

Either way helicopters bringing rocks.

Big bill and happy helicopter contractors .....

I sure hope that fukin emergency spillway doesn't break ....

Any boulders less than 5 tons, and firmly fixed on flat or backsloping bedrock will be trundled downhill by the undercut and overflow water force. That sheriff is a quack.

The only hope is dropping the level thru the main spillway fast enough.

That's what they are trying to do at this moment.

DO NOT FEAR, EXPERTS ARE IN CHARGE < THEY KNOW WTF THEY ARE DOING

rolls eyes ......why everyone leaving town now if they know wtf they are doing, lol

Gross materialist mental midgets think they can control Mother Nature. It's just past a full moon, she's raging full of hormones right now. Better just get out of the way and let her rage.

We're just getting the first of 8" of precip now, winds clocked at 49 where we just skied out from. It's about to get fun. Hope you folks that decided to live downstream from the dam get lucky. Because sometimes being lucky is better than being smart.

Its not the sheriffs plan. Its the Water departments plan. And the force of the water has been reduced because now there is only 2 inches of water going over the top of the emergency spillway. There was over a foot going over it. and it is dropping even further as they use the main spillway to relieve the pressure.

That pic is from when over a foot of water was going over the spillway. Other sites are saying the erosion has slowed with the reduction of water going over the spillway.

I am not an expert. This is just gleaning info from multiple sites.

It still seems like a lousy design.
