Wayno, The swastika-like symbol on the building in Thermopolis comes from many Native American tribes and represents the four directions and the four seasons.
Did you visit the free hot spring baths there? The state maintains a bathhouse for the hot mineral springs that is open to anyone for free in honor of a treaty with the Shoshone and Arapahoe.

Hey Mark, too bad you couldn't make it to COR. I did know that symbol was used by several cultures for a very long time before the Nazis got a hold of it and ruined it's meaning, but it was still strange to see it on that old building. Yes, I did go into the hot springs, but not the ones in the park. I had a room at a motel in town that had an RV park north of town with their own spring. It was over a 100 that day but we still soaked. Very refreshing when you get out, it seems cooler. Thermopolis is a real interesting place. I actually liked the area.

I'll contribute some flower pics from COR (actually Castle Rock State Park)
And a critter trying to steal our breakfast:
And on the way out, we took the very scenic path. Here's a border road between Idaho and Utah. Granite Pass is in the background, a major waypoint on the trail to California in the pioneer days.
We went probably 60+ miles on this dirt road before hitting a paved road in Utah, and then went about a hundred miles before reaching Montello, NV as the first spot for gas. Definitely need to form the habit of filling up anywhere you can, even if you're only down a quarter tank, when traveling through some parts of the country.
I somehow managed to not take any pics of people at the gathering, so these will have to do from my side!

Mike-
My curiosity overwhelms me; how DID you get down? The Rebar Route? That eyebolt looks great to me, since that's the standard rappel point anchor in the Dolomites; cemented in eyebolts. They are, normally, utterly bombproof... ??????

Rodger - we did indeed take the rebar route. Travis let me know after we got down that that is indeed standard practice in Germany too. I just couldn't rap my head around going off a single point. I suppose when i'm forced to do so, i will just have to do it.
Wayno- did ya get some new bait? ;)
Wednesday we headed out with the group for a Donini rest day.
Travis headed into the Inner City
Move to your left a bit...
So many formations..
The flowers were out in force thanks to recent rains.
Rough hang eh Donini?
Project 13/Tribal Boundaries
On the way out we found a window.
Cool stone
Crazy Formations!
Face anyone?
A very hot Inner City
After climbing we went for a drive to Burley for supplies, and i saw these round hay bales.

Thanks to all for "posting-up" stories & photos ------and comments.
Having just reviewed the last few pages, I have some more photos to contribute.
Mark on the first lead of Theatre of Shadows on Thursday. I'm now recovered from leading that well-bolted 4 pitch 5.7. I may even have enjoyed it. I confess, even I was skipping clipping the numerous bolts.
It turns out you can do two 30 meter rappels to exit Theatre of Shadows. It is only slighly tricky to catch the chains at the bottom of the first of two overhanging rappels.
The 2.5 billion year old granite on Theatre of Shadows has some huge phenocrysts of feldspar. Some in the below photo are over one-inch long.

A great big ST THANK YOU to Ray and Mark for orchestrating this excellent gathering! It was a real pleasure to meet so many great folks and there was a lot of talent hanging out unrelated to this get together.
The two gals just mentioned are Lisa Rehms in the foreground and Janet Ader both from Portland. The other Steve is Steve Amter from Washington DC who had a fantastic first visit to the City, gobbling up classics all the while.
More photos soon...
