Wayno/Fritz, Perhaps Wayno could post a list of helpful stuff he would like people to bring, e.g
extra coolers?
extra large pots?
extra propane campstove?
other food?
I volunteer to bring heavy duty paper plates and bowls for the group for group for the two nights of dinners, so theres nothing to wash there.
I also have a bunch of plasticware left over from various things that I can bring to donate. These can be rinsed and reused. I'll check how many I have in the AM.
I'm planning to bake something that is enough for everyone for one night. I'm thinking of brownies because they are compact and freeze well.
I vote for dinner at 7 PM. It gets cold in the desert as soon as the sun goes down.

Phylp & MFM:
Re dinner hour. 7:00 to 7;30 PM is good for us. Anything earlier and the younger folks will mock us for being Silverbacks.
I just took this photo from our Ranchette at 9:25 P.M. Mountain Time.
It may be full dark at about 10:30 PM at our COR gathering.
phylp: Re your kind offer:

Question? We have four nights of dinners, and you mention paper plates and bowls for two nights? Please let us know if you have those for 2 nights of our 4 nights of dinners?

MFM! Re your question>
And Fritz, do you get Hellman's or Best Foods up there?
MFM We have Best Foods Mayo in our refrigerator-----but the two tiny grocery stores in Almo are really small and may not have anything you are counting on other than beans and beer.

And this is somehow a problem?
What else besides beans and beer does a real climber need?

I will be bringing potato salad, but how many want eggs, how many want no eggs...we can work out by adding these (and other things!) as we see fit.
I will provide enough for thirty or more helpings and bring at least one extra bowl for different versions, depending. I'll find some mayo at the Grocery Outlet here and some of those other "girlie" ingredients, too.
"No picnic is complete without ants and potato salad."
I will bring a large cooler. Like 64 qts, I think. That should help for sure.
I am really looking forward to this gig. I remember the jolly times at reunions at Obsidian Flat group camp on the Eastside about 10-15 yrs back. A whole lotta fun there, but no climbing. It was on the Solstice, too, as a tradition.
the Rev tells me that Obsidian Flat is now closed by the feds. C'est la vie.
edit: Ghostly rhetoric notwithstanding, how about water, like 2 quarts per day per person? :0)

Don't worry much about a good beer selection. Rock City pizza in Almo will knock your socks off. Spread a little $ around in the local economy. Their pizza is not bad and the service is family friendly.
One of the 'little groceries' has showers and serves breakfast. Then there's the local hot springs and swimming pool - even better for full immersion cleansing and chillaxin' with the locals.

Potato salad would definitely be a welcome addition. I only have potatoes planned for Thursday night. Mashers.
I think lots of coolers will always be helpful.
I also have a collection of disposable eating ware that I will bring. I'm not sure how much either but it should at least be a couple nights worth.
People that like to drink wine out of a decent glass should bring their own. I might have a couple extras.
I will bring all my own cooking gear.
Hmmm... let's see... what else ? Any thoughts?

Actually it's best pizza I've ever had, no joke. There are two older ladies in there that Rock!

Rock City has good pizza, but most times they are "sold out." Don't count on being able to always have it available. On the other hand, they have a great selection of wines.
The Almo store doesn't have much; the closest major town is Burley with a full gamut of supermarkets and other amenities. That's about 45 minutes away.
I have a couple 7 gallon water jugs I'll be bringing; I'll spring for some good Chinet paper plates for at least one meal, too.

There is also good, potable water avaiable in the park. Love potato salad. With all of the talent coming someone should put on a floor show.

The Outpost serves a decent steak, must be local beef. Nothing fancy but it tastes real.

Besides great pizza, Rock City has a great beer selection. I never bring anything to the City/Castle, but, drive home well stocked.
Weekends only for me (workin' fo the man m-f). Maybe see a few folks kickin' around over the weekends (friday night through sunday night). Only around 2.5 hour drive for the Sh#t Lake Salty crew.

Oh yeah, the best steak I ever had too in the Outpost. They pulled out a giant slab I'm sure they harvested from their back yard, unwrapped it and carved a huge rib eye you could chew with your tongue. It seemed to go down hill though the last few times I visited.

Fritz, I said two nights because I had no idea how much they cost and I didn't want to end up committing to $100 worth of paper plates.
Turns out they are not that costly, so I am bringing 100 paper plates and 50 paper bowls.
I had 32 sets of plastic knife fork spoon in the cupboard so I am bringing those too.
I may bring a wine decanter too. :-) I'm not very patient when it comes to my evening glass of wine.
Will come by the campsite Monday evening after climbing.

Remember Brokedown, drinking will end PROMPTLY at 9:00 pm so that everyone will be in formation at precisely 7:00 am to receive their climbing assignments.
