Then Survival tells them to get off and walk,, doesnt he own horses??
No Ron, what I said was it's funny when their POS breaks down and they're forced to walk.
Yes, I own horses, which are legal in said canyon. I wouldn't have a problem with Joe Rambo taking his horse there.
The irony is all in between your ears. A guy who talks big about being a gov't LEO being a gov't hater, that's ironic.

If the BLM can muster 200 heavily armed LEO's and helicopters to counter the threat of one measly cattle rancher in bum fuk nevada can't they do a little policing of the bad element minority despoiling our backcountry with irresponsible ATVing and drunken shootups of the shrubbery? I mean rather than have the responsible majority pay for the sins of the irresponsible minority.

Happens all the time...to climbers too and other users.
Another new route (13a) in the San Luis valley...just bolts, no guns.

Isn't rappel bolting routes of the future, climbable with less of visual impact by future climbers of heretofore unseen mutant abilities, considered despoiling the backcountry by a significant percentage of the climbing community, Bob?

The actions of a bad minority paint any group with a whole brush. If the actions are bad enough authorities take action. It's up to any user group on public lands to police their group AND to ameliorate (thru stewardship) the invetitable environmental damage their use incurs.
It is well known that different user groups are better or worse relative to the damage they do and the efforts they make to repair that damage. I think that climbers, as a user group, are far superior to four wheelers and dirt bikers in both respecting the places where they play and in volunteering to rectify their impact.

Sucked in again. Dammit!
A vehicle is not protected by civil rights or freedoms. It is a privilege not a right. Vehicles can be regulated at will and with good reasoning.

ignorance of bolt bans or falcon closures don't have the potential to kill people like the lack of a backstop does.

Im just pointing out hypocracy to you.
A few climbers f*#k up, they close an area, you cry foul. Because you recognize them as the minority.
A few gun nuts or wheelers f*#k up, you cry ban em all. Because you percieve them to be the majority, or as in donini,s pov feel that a few f*#kups are justification enough to f*#k the rest of the user group.
These dudes riding in protest and in violation of the law will do no favors to themselves or the rest of us. As with the cow guy. Niether does the ban em all attitude.
Maybe they were right in closing your particular road, maybe the majority of use there was irresponsible. Im just sayin dont drive through LA rush hour and assume all traffic is the same.
a sensical expression on this thread will get you no where. the sides have spoken. either you are a gun nut or a liberal and trying to get one side to see the others will surely result in crap from both sides. so thanks for bringing up some common sense!

Climbers are pretty good at self policing. I have run four successive climber volunteer days at Indian Creek with the BLM. The last one attracted 70 participants. Climbers have also respected seasonal bird closures in the area and do not climb where climbing has been banned because of petroglyphs.
Some four wheelers, evidenced by their tire tracks, have not respected the rules concerning where they can and cannot ride nor have they, as a group, ever volunteered their services for restoration projects.
The facts speak for themselves.

Survival have you been to Auburn yet? Best hurry before they close it again.
Yes, I have. There's some climbing there, but not worth getting all gun toting, atv protesting riding about.

Many, if not most, people do not realize how many 'liberals' own guns
but don't belong to the NRA or rally at poor beleagured rancher's. A
well known journalist who describes himself as "more than a little liberal"
wrote a book about this last year.

yeah donini, you should include all those everest climbers in your most favored user group as well...sorry, but i dont believe the BS that all climbers are great stewards of the environment anymore than i believe all people who like guns are crazy.
i went to an honest to god shooting range for the first time in my life last weekend. shot a friends AR-15. that was fun but the most killer discovery i had was just how friendly everyone was there. compare this to going to a popular crag and one could conclude that climbers are a$$holes.
