Wow. I just found the whopper of all militia/conspiracy/nutjob websites.
Following the these sovereign citizens, militias, and birthers is a hobby of mine. A great clearing house for reliable information is www.thefogbow.com, here is a link to their index of fringe individuals and groups http://www.thefogbow.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=55
Operation American Spring (OAS) led by Colonel Harry Riley is relatively sane compared to some of these people.

And they are udderly dangerous.
There’s a new methane champ, says the Environmental Protection Agency, which found in a new draft report on greenhouse gases that cattle passed the natural-gas industry as the biggest source of U.S. methane emissions in 2012.

If it had been a black gay rancher the militia would've stayed home.
Fortmental has a good point. The only two times I've been chased off of BLM land it was by ranchers who thought and acted like they owned the place, because their cattle were there.
Both times we were clearly on a walking/horseback situation and ZERO threat to their damn moo moos. Both times it was clearly marked BLM land.
Once, the "cowpokes" in their new dodge powerwagon were clearly packing rifles and handguns and were damn aggressive.
BLM is the problem my ass.

The federal gov did not typically reserve easements when it granted lands under the various homestead acts cause it has the power of eminent domain. Maybe Nevada has some sort of implied easement rule for historical access.

Maybe Nevada has some sort of implied easement rule for historical access.
Under common law, there is something called an easement by prescription. If someone -- or the public -- uses private land openly and notoriously for ingress and egress, for example, after a period of years (five in California, seven in most jurisdictions of which I am aware), the law imposes a prescriptive easement on the land. It's related to the law of adverse possession or, less technically, squatters' rights.
I am unaware of any right to a prescriptive easement on public land, and I seriously doubt that one exists, but it most certainly does on private land.
Several years ago, a landowner fenced off an access road used to reach the top of Tollhouse Rock. If we had pushed the point, the landowner would have been forced to remove that fence, because we had irrefutable proof of the use of the road by the public to access the top of the Rock. No one chose to litigate, however, and we ended up with alternate approaches that are satisfactory, but the option existed.
I suspect most landowners erect barriers on routes being used by others precisely to preserve their rights against prescriptive easements.
