So I'm up for defending my sense of what civilization should be, but that is a very far cry from reactionary violence for violence in the wake of atrocities, when all the players and motives are not out on the table. Religious extremism and desire for global conversion is a piece of the puzzle from one set of players. Acting in response to that bit alone would be unlikely to reach and end state we want.

And Spineless One continues his attempts at character assassination...with nothing relevant to add to the primary thread.
Europe is in big trouble, and making smartass remarks will not change things. France has had issues going back to their North African colonies for years, with the Algerians. Germany is a hotbed of covered up violence (especially in and related to medical care for the indigent Muslims!). Several doctors and nurses have been assaulted/knifed over violating religious tenets demanded by fundamental Muslims.
My position statement: No more Syrian Refugees unless a complete background screening before they set foot on U.S. soil. No more illegal and uncontrolled immigration across any of our borders.
If you haven't seen it, and experienced it firsthand--refrain from know-it-all comments!

As Locker pointed out, Brokendown's own comments about the way some muslim kids smelled—
I wouldn't call any of them Ladies. Especially with their pack of smelly kids swarming along.
—assassinated his character more thoroughly than anything I could possibly type.

Update: An American woman, a student at California State University, Long Beach, has been identified as one of the victims of the terrorist bombing and shooting spree near Paris yesterday. Nohemi Gonzalez was studying Design in France for a semester, and was a junior at CSULB. The tragedy continues to evolve...

Paris Attacks: Suicide Bomber Wearing an Explosive Vest Was Blocked From Entering Soccer Stadium
Source: WSJ
PARIS—At least one of the attackers outside France’s national soccer stadium had a ticket to the game and attempted to enter the 80,000-person venue, according to a Stade de France security guard who was on duty and French police.
The guard—who asked to be identified only by his first name, Zouheir—said the attacker was discovered wearing an explosives vest when he was frisked at the entrance to the stadium about 15 minutes into the game. France was playing an exhibition against Germany inside.
While attempting to back away from security, Zouheir said, the attacker detonated the vest. Zouheir, who was stationed by the players’ tunnel, said he was briefed on the sequence by the security frisking team at the gate.
A police officer confirmed the sequence, adding that police suspect the attacker aimed to detonate his vest inside the stadium in order to provoke a deadly stampede.

Ease up people. All through history people have had difficulty accepting new comers and the new comers have had difficulty adjusting to their new society. When coming to America the Irish, the Italians, the Germans. all were hated for one reason or another. One of the most common was the smells. It took a few generations for them to assimilate. The kids are what did it.
I'm not saying this to excuse anything broke down said. I'm just saying that there is always an adjustment period.

You can do better than that. We disagree. We may not even like one another. But you can do better than that.

Locker-
You DO know that I'm always right? But no...I never commented on skin color. Under a burka with a veil in place...how was I supposed to know? But yes, the kids DID stink, the smell of the unwashed. Sort of like us after several days in Josh without a shower. Hee, hee.

imho, the bottom line is this. Totalitarian regimes, while brutal, provide a stable form of government. The USSR under Yeltsin was pretty chaotic. Who remembers the attempted coup?
What's ironic(to me) is that the US has supported these regimes as long as they acquiesced to our demands, i.e. Saddam was our friend, as well as the shah of Iran.
Third world societies don't know how to live under a democratic government.
If democracies do replace dictatorships, corruption is pretty common.

What you wrote at 12:27pm.
Wise words.
Time to step back and assess the big picture,
and I say that intentionally vague.

If ya ignore that oven, yer backside gets burned.
