Yup Ed, I was practicing for ISS. Haven't put in the time to figure just when and where.

600mm lens (well, 300mm + 2x multiplier) and f/9 for depth of field to get plane and moon in sharp focus.

Obviously, Lynnie's thread @ the Full Moon has left this one on the wane.

No more need be said.
It's a great thread.

But there are twenty-eight (+/-)
Nights per month just as great.

One of which was tonight.

Moon over Merced.Some call it a quarter-moon,
Some call it a one-half moon.
It's all good.

Moon creep.

^^^Wowser, Ed! Gorgeous shot, amigo!^^^

It's cloudy to the SE this morning.
These were taken at around 4:15 a.m. All I fiddled with is some cropping.

^^^very nice...

... heads up!
the crescent moon sets on July 18, 2015 with Regulus, Venus and Jupiter all dancing together (all within 4º ... that's a 500mm telephoto lens angular field of view)

July 18, 2015 is a Saturday... so no excuses!

Not the moon, but I got this cool shot the other night. You can see the four Galilean moons of Jupiter and that Venus is showing a non-fill phase. These were two of the key observations Galileo made 400 years ago to demonstrate the heliocentric model for the Solar System.

Very Nice, Ed.

Which lakes are those out there and is that the SF Bay in the far distance?

Edit: let's upgrade that first one to spectacular, on second look.
