Good move getting a backhoe up there quickly - some of those boulders looked too big to move without a winch or something!

Blah got into hot water minimizing the damage done by the Colorado event(s), but lets be fair, it looks like one of those tonka toy trackhoes next to that big one if you look at the Acapulco event.
Eighty plus dead so far, and at least in Boulder there weren't a lot of man eating sized caiman swimming with the survivors,..

Hmmm, needs a new door at least. Not sure what is going on under the doors.
I thought it was gonna be a miracle, but I guess all that pressure pushing it against the cement pillar did some real damage after all.

Wouldn't a typical comprehensive insurance policy cover the Mercedes?
Anyway, sorry my comments on the flood may have rankled some feathers--
different people react differently to these things. My neighbor, who suffered almost exactly the same damage as me, seems genuinely depressed, almost shell shocked (he didn't have insurance and also had some worse problems, but still)
I consider myself mostly lucky, and I hope my comments weren't taken as insensitive to those who got hit worse, in many cases much worse.

Hey BlahBlah.. Thanks for the apology.
You might consider also that you might have more resources available to you to help you recover. I have health issues and if something like this hit me I would have a difficult time. Imagine if Tarbuster lost his home, with his health issues. I also don't have the greatest finances. So just because your neighbor has similar damages as you doesn't necessarily mean that he can recover as easily as you.
Health, finances, time, energy levels, age. These are all things that can make it more difficult or much easier for someone to recover.

Thoughts and positive juju to the folks dealing with this. Not just Boulder but all the communities impacted. We are down the road a bit and only had minor landscape damage. Lucky for sure.

Head up to North Boulder on Broadway to where Four Mile Creek comes into town. I just spent two days helping a friend dig out his storage unit which was full of water and mud when Four Mile Creek overran it's banks. There is now a 4' wall of dirt/mud as far as the eye can see where there used to be a nice flat grassland.
Better yet, hang out in the Boulder Home Depot for a few hours and ask the customers how they are doing. First, there was a run on sump pumps. Then there was a run on box fans. Now there is a run on liquid anti-microbial solution(I am on my third gallon of the stuff!).

Sorry to rag on you Blah, but after dealing with incompetence of county civil engineers and people that gloss over the damage here I have a short fuse. I grew up in hurricane alley and over the years have became jaded how storms can destroy towns. Out here it is different because no one saw this coming.
Right now three friends have checked in, one is still missing and unfortunately Coach Gerald Boland body was found downstream from his home. He was one of the local supporters of a Mexican restaurant we started in Lyons. Hopefully the hundreds still missing will show up soon.

Sorry about your friend Eric. Hope for the best for the rest.
I've lived in Colorado since the mid sixties. Seen a lot of intense weather but this was unimaginable. Perspective is a powerful tool. When I asked to borrow my own shovels and rakes and other implements of destruction from my ex she ragged on me for helping my friend David save his house instead tearing out her damp basement carpet. So I sent her a selection of choice pics from David's place and said "So you had some water in your basement?")

Sorry about your friend, goatboy.
And heroic work, philo!
This morning I heard that Boulder Canyon, which was on the verge of opening up, has been closed again by more rockfall. Maybe the Teflon Wall area? That always did looked pretty unstable.
