As part of my job (realtor) I have the challenge of taking a property and attempting to make it look good. My wife and I drove up to Zion to a property that I'd just listed on a cloudy, rainy day in hopes that there would be a "hole" in the storm. I've often found that these "holes" can bring spectacular light but their fleeting nature tries ones patience. Such was the case for this image... 2-1/2 hours of waiting and then 45 seconds of light. I love these types of gifts. More images on the photo link.

Nice Dave... I'm ready to make an offer! :-)
Mouse, that circa 1975 shot captures the ominous side of the mountains well. Like it.
Glad to see this post has legs!

I got lots of these on our trip to Alaska this past summer. I had seen them in books but didn't think I would score one. Actually many of our anchorages had the reflections such as this. They are really freaky to see in real life because on some of them the illusion is so strong that if you are going out a narrow passageway it can be deceiving.

Wow, Susan, that is so cool. We did an Alaska trip a couple of years back and there are so many vast, unfathomable things to see there. Just takes everything to a new magnitude!

Aerobic Workout on Basin Mountain, Memorial Day weekend 2004. AKA "Sweatfest."
Probably the last time I ever wore black in the backcountry when it was not the dead of winter. What was I thinking? Oh that's right, prepping to teach n00b 101!
Lost 30 lbs. just in water. Later that afternoon, gained by 35 via mega burritofest.
Hee hee!

Thanks, Ryan, and I agree about Justin and his thread and photos but there is no such thing as slacking, here. No schedules, quotas, or deadlines, right?

Not back country, but still outside -
Located and surveyed the site of a 1945 crash of a P-39. The engine blew, and the pilot bailed out safely. Pretty good site with lots of recognizable pieces. Way better then jet sites which are usually tiny bits.
The impact site
Lots of cool barrel cactus were in the area.
After locating this site, we went to look for another. Christina surveyed an odd alien craft - we were right next to Area 51. Hope this pic doesn't bring the MIB's down on us.
