Headed out to any area I've never been to before, near Helena called Blue Cloud Spires I think. Small granite spires and domes. We'll see what it's about.

Mojede? If we're done with it tomorrow maybe we'll cruise on down to the King & Queen; meet up?

Hey..Blue cloud area is a couple of miles from where I live. Kind of tricky to get there. Last year some homeowner closed the road to the place and you had to walk about a mile to get up there. Might have changed by now. Might need directions though..Have fun..Theres also a place called Sheep Mt. climbing area over by Clancy.

The Doublets were looking good. The Bears Tooth always looks so cool. Anyone on here climbed it. There is a lifetime of beautiful rock in East Rosebud alone. The spires up by California ice look so good, but I would imagine the access is tough even though they just sit right above the valley it is so much farther than you think. Also so many canyons that it looks quite confusing.

Hi ya Frank.

You guessed it. We got all the way to a "road closed" sign with a phone # on it. Called the # and left message but they didn't seem to be interested in granting access.

So, off to Sheep we went. I had climbed there years ago but we gave it another go. Definitely old school climbing, stiff ratings, tricky pro, etc. Had a blast though.

Next day we went to the King & Queen near Butte. Kind of the same type of area and climbing but I think better rock, cleaner and more features.

Too bad about Blue Cloud.

Anyone know what this is? We saw more florescent colored things in nature than I ever have seen. We saw pink snow that turned a much brighter orange when we skied over it and a bright yellow goo on the trail that I did not photograph.Jack climbing Lockheart with Whitetail in the background. We climbed to the end of the snow and ice and started climbing up the steep slope with loose gravel and rocks, but about 50 feet from the top of the ridge and maybe another 50 feet from the top Jack got freaked from the exposure and trying to negotiate all the choss in tele boots so we turned around. It was still a great adventure and he displayed great intestinal fortitude by carrying his boots, skis, axes, crampons, and all the camping gear in for many miles before we even got to touch the snow.
