LEB menopause is terrible. Have you considered a 13 step program?
Fox news will exagerate from time to time, but outright lies, very unlikely. It is a news and entertainment organization, just like the other media outlets.
Jeff they lie and you know it. They do not call themselves an entertainment organization. They laud their claim to be a "Fair and balanced" NEWS agency. As such; the myriad examples of their constant (anti-American) bald faced lying should be regularly exposed. As they have been on this thread. Pre LEB that is.
Stewart and the daily show clearly and consistently present themselves as a comedy/entertainment show. Still the Daily Show presents more "TRUTH" in a single episode than FAUX NOISE does in a month.

To be fair, I've had some very ugly things said to me on ST during my tenure here. And I'm not without blame either - I said something several years ago to someone and I still feel bad about it today. They were very nasty to me and I responded in kind. Still, I shouldn't have done it and I don't feel good about it.
Happily, the nasty insults are very rare.
And it's my belief that in general, we get what we dish out.

Wow, Crimpie "gets it." It must be because she's a woman.

OMG they must have been a flaming liberal.
No conservatives say bad things about women. Just ask FuX news.
John McShame's ugly, ugly rant about his wife was really just terms of endearment. Just ask FuX news.
Either that or the old goat war hero (GAG) is a secret liberal.

Yes indeed. Christian conservatives respect women, you better believe it! Beacuse nothing says "respect" like forcing you to give birth to a rapist's child, or to carry your own half-brother in your womb.

If FuX News did to sports reporting what they have done to news reporting there would be millions of fans-of all races, socio-economic classes, religious beliefs, genders, and sexual orientations- marching with torches and pitch forks to kill the beast!

his solutions were faulty
I think his main problem was that he underestimated the obstructionist & divisive nature of Washington politics. It's on both sides of the aisle, but really, the elephants in the room appear to be doing everything they can to put the brakes on his administration and cast a shadow on him (muslim kenyan alien socialist Obamacare) to the detriment of the country.
Was anyone better off in 2008 than they were in 2002? If you were, I'm guessing you are one of the top 3% of the income pie. We can already say the country is slightly better off after 2 years of Obama.
There was a song years ago, like around 1964, by a guy who professed a sea-change coming to the establishment. I'm hoping that the tides are rising again and carry all of the anti-progressives, war mongers, and self-serving politicos far, far out to sea. "you'd better start swimmin', or you'll sink like a stone; for the times they are a-changin'."
Plus, the music was great & the chemicals were fun!

Here is a possible explanation for the existence of avatars like "LEB" and "Skipt."
They are non-climbers who posting on a climbing board and "just post on supertopo because they like it here." Their views are not of the popular majority. They usually cause chaos and fighting and are usually abused by the majority of the forum. Conspiracy theory!
http://dailycensored.com/2010/09/06/cognitive-infiltration-recommended-read-from-project-censored/
It's a book:
http://www.amazon.com/Cognitive-Infiltration-Appointees-Undermine-Conspiracy/dp/1566568218
//Review
"In the United States today, the phrase `conspiracy theory' functions as a sort of giant cudgel, used to scare us out of talking openly about a broad (and ever-growing) range of scandals that the powerful cannot afford to let the people comprehend. In this new book, David Ray Griffin takes devastating aim at that repressive tactic, exposing it for what it really is. All those who cherish democracy, and intellectual freedom, owe it to themselves to read this brave analysis---and owe its author their sincerest thanks." --- Mark Crispin Miller, Professor of Culture and Communication, New York University
Product Description
Griffin's meritorious effort to raise public awareness and understanding
Former Chicago and Harvard law professor Cass Sunstein, who in 2009 was appointed by President Barack Obama to direct an important executive branch office, had in 2008 co-authored an article containing a plan for the government to prevent the spread of anti-government "conspiracy theories." Arguing that such theories are believed only by groups suffering from "informational isolation," he advocated the use of anonymous government agents to engage in "cognitive infiltration" of these groups in order to introduce "cognitive diversity," with the aim of breaking them up.
Noting that Sunstein's proposal has evoked condemnations from across the political spectrum--not least because it, being similar to the FBI's COINTELPRO of the 1960s, would be illegal--David Ray Griffin focuses on the fact that Sunstein's primary target is the conspiracy theory advocated by the 9/11 Truth Movement. Examining Sunstein's charge that this theory is both "harmful" and "demonstrably false," Griffin uses both satire and overwhelming evidence to show that this twofold charge applies instead to what Sunstein calls "the true conspiracy theory" about 9/11-namely, the "theory that Al-Qaeda was responsible for 9/11."//

Quite well said, Fatty, quite well said.
Fatty hasn't written anything remotely resembling the truth on this site (unless it's related to something climbing related). The fact that you agree with him shows how full of fluff you are.

Obstructing was the only way to stop the president from even futher ballooning the national debt while still creating very few jobs.
Then why didn't they do it when bush was in office? He took a trillion dollar surplus and turned it into a trillion dollar deficit. From where I sit, it looks like the only thing the elephants can get behind are things that they like (war, tax breaks for the rich, halliburton), not what's necessarily good for the country (ability to keep our children health insured, ability to not be dropped/denied coverage for pre-existing conditions).

It's so sad that many of you are in such denial over the poor performance of Obama, trying to blame Fox for this. Obama came in with huge problems to face, none that he created, but his solutions were faulty and he over promised. Now Romer, Summers, Emanuel are all fleeing the ship.
This is another Fox type distortion. It's quite common for high administration officials to leave the administration at the mid-point of the first term. It happened under Ford, Carter, Reagan, Clinton and Bush. Trying to portray it as somehow different this time around is exactly the sort of a-historical fact manipulation that Fox indulges in.
Now if we want to talk about Obama's performance (averting a major depression, drawing down in Iraq, starting the long arduous process of health care reform* and so on) that's a different topic.
Oh wait! Conflating topics to arrive at false conclusions is another tactic employed by Fox, straight from the demagogue's handbook!
(In five years people will be astounded at how difficult it was to achieve this reform and wonder how we survived without it. See this article by high ranking GOP strategist David Frum.

Who'd a thunk that such a thing could bloom out of a simple thread about how Fox News is driving a shim through our quaint American society.

After the 3-minute fight, we'll return to the normal topic at hand. Which is, ummm, More Mud Wrestling!

Excerp from your link.
BECKY: You think it's okay to raise taxes at a time when the economy's uncertain
BUFFETT: I think-- sure. On some people. Yeah. I-- I don't want to raise 'em on 90-- you know, 98 percent of the people, but-- but-- no, I think the inequities that have gone into the tax code in the last 20 or 30 years compared to the situation that existed when this country was very prosperous in 1960, 1970, 1980 and so on, I-- I think it's-- I just think it's been tilted toward the rich.
BECKY: You said that you think it is politically feasible to get something passed, but if the President-- President has to compromise to get something through, do you think he should?
BUFFETT: In the end, he has to do something. I mean-- that-- the laws expire by-- by their nature. No, I-- but-- I-- I play pretty tough if I was him -- (LAUGHS)
BECKY: Warren, I want to thank you for your time.
BUFFETT: Thanks. Thanks for inviting me.
