I'm learning so any tips will be taken and utilized in the future.
Let's see it took me about 5 years to post these so don't be looking for too much too soon. Hey maybe we should all pool our photos and come out with a "new" Yosemite Climber type book, ya'll must be familiar with that great book. Any suggestions with shopping for a decent slide scanner that doesn't cost a fortune?
Peace

uh what the hell is a ULR or URL or whatever.....guy's you have to put things in SIMPLE terms for this simple mind. I get lost with my cell phone, let alone a computer. Go figure, my son is a computer science/business administration/engineering student at USC(fight on Pat Nay)and good ole dad don't know jack about computers.

right, me too.
here's a great scanner 4 everything - Canon = bomber, IMO.

the thing about images for display on the computer screen
(uploaded for the web)
is that the specs for the size (in pixels)

is calibrated at 72ppi (pixels per inch)

remember 72ppi, that's key.

also,
this is made 4 what you're doing:
http://www.irfanview.com/
I set mine to just image viewing during the install,
really good 4 editing pics to be uploaded.
Simple, stable user friendly app, low system
resource consumption and free as can be!

It asks what you're doing w/ the pics,
and does the whole batch - it's a forum/
blogger image editing app.

Sorry, I briefly channeled some geek speak.

URL means (I think) something like "Universal Resource Locator". It's the unique internet address for a website or a photo. A combination of symbols, letters and numbers. When you put a URL in a SuperTopo post, the ST computer automatically knows to go to that "address" and get whatever is there.

A typical URL for a photo on ST usually starts and finishes with [img]. That identifies the thing that's being found as an image. I can't post a full URL for a photo for you, as then all you'd see is the photo.

The URL for SuperTopo is http://www.supertopo.com

The URL for this thread, within SuperTopo, is http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.html?topic_id=603398 Kind of a sub-address. Just like a URL for a photo is a sub-address within another website.

since we're taking a little stroll down memory lane, and adding provenance to these pics as we go, here's some deep background on this little gem:

this brutal little crimpfest, on the backside of the ampitheater at "old" santee, was fired first try by kevin powell on his first trip to santee in 1977. me and watusi were giving him the tour and he just hiked all the established probs, then casually added a few new ones that were harder than pretty much everything there. he didn't even bother naming this one. back in the late 70's is was known simply as "the powell crimp." despite dozens of attempts spead over several years, i wasn't able to do it until fires came out.

I'm wondering if that is the late great Shawn Curtis with the red hair RIGHT under John. Father Guido Sarducci,(black hat) who was that, contest must have been around Halloween, if I remember contestants were dressed up in costumes. I've told the story before, but Santee had just burned and me and Howard King show up early that morning and Yabo is sleeping on the ground amongst all the ash. We wake him and he is FULL of black ash, he gets up and behold he is ready to boulder(after massive loads). That shot of Yabo Ape Factor is taken within minutes of him waking, he dusted off a bit and went to work on the problems.
Peace
ps BVB how are you doing these days? We missed you at the Josh thingamajig and I've been wondering how things are for you these days. You've tackled a HUGE hurdle boy, keep it up, we wish you the best and stay on track!

Oh, you guys are just the greatest! Talking together, helping each other....my my I am so impressed!

Suddenly I am energized again from you wonderful ST's.

Say, R. I am just down the freeway...I could drop by for 5 min. and show you how it works. Plus...I do not think you are using a "POST" for each picture, cause your pics all run together with no room for you to comment. For each pic you need to punch the post button on ST.

When you hit the IMG and that crazy script goes on the ST Post, hit enter and you can write whatever comments you want.

Then go back to photo bucket and pick another picture, go through the same process and go to ST and Post and do it again. You need to separately POST each picture so they don't run together.

You did fantastic without an "Amy". I love your pic's. Being a leg woman the Bachar legs are tied with Yannick Noah's .

Not actually true Lynne.... after each set of IMG tags, just hit return and then you can put in a caption or whatever, and then hit return again and pop in another URL between the IMG tags.

Some posts will have dozens of pictures with captions and lies after each one with easy to read spacing.

keep trying it out.... great stuff so far. That one of me with the Lord Fauntleroy haircut might need to go though.

Hey Ray... you'll like this one. The Mini Cheese bumps into Kinn-E-MoMo a few weeks ago... MoMo is sorta trying to sell his house.... so Mini asks him,

"hey MoMo, how much you selling your house for?"

MoMo looks away as he does, points his chin into the air and says,

"more money that you got 'sail", and then walks off!

bwhahahahaha! Classic MoMo!

My favorite show as a kid was Sea Hunt, and it has been said I look a lot like Lloyd Bridges..... (or Slim Pickens, depending on who you ask)

I've been chased up onto a mussel bed by a Tiger Shark while spear fishing... I've chummed the seas on many a deep sea fishing trip, and I've hit the winter swells, at night, during storm season... but no.... I really don't like the water all that much.

Gee, Mr. Fish, I'm finding it hard to come back with a witty retort. Hate to admit, you may have bested me this ONE time. Really hard to admit, no one ever bests me. How is your sister tonight?

I've never fly fished for Salmon in Alaska..... but I have noodled Salmon in Alaska, including the State Record catch, have rendered down an entire whale for lamp oil, all while doing missionary work with the Inuits on a 9 year stint.

(for the record, noodling is when you use only your hands to catch fish, by gently stroking them on the belly under the bank of a river, or my letting them engulf your entire arm, and then whipping them on to the shore drydock style. Most hicks do this with catfish..... but I have taken the art North to Alaska)

(giant lie edit: ok... I've never been past Seattle.....)

HA, folks, I think I got the Nemo, he seriously can't have done as much as I have. Have you fished for salmon in Alaska, lived for awhile with the Inuits AND seen the illusive Walrus up close and personal... And had ST send you off on your own personal ice flo? And I hope to .....I do not resemble L. Bridges or his sons!!
